MTV has spread a lot of misconceptions about the Goo Goo Dolls. Most people think this is a band that puts out sappy love song and after love song, but there is a lot more to these guys then the stuff you see and hear on the radio and MTV.  Ok they may be partially to blame, when “Name” became a monster hit for them all the public heard from these guys were the love songs like “Slide” and “Iris” but if you bought the CD and put it on you were surprised by how these guys could actually rock!

It looks like the band has seen the errors of their ways. This new compilation of album tracks showcases the band’s diversity and the songs that made them international stars are curiously absent. That’s a good thing, because this may offer people a second chance to discover the real Goo Goo Dolls who do have a lot to offer aside from sappy ballads.

No offense, but why do some people consider love songs sappy. Songs like "Name", "Slide", "Iris", and "Black Balloon" were deep, meaningful songs. Love is an important and meaningful thing. Why do so many people hate music that's "sappy" and mellow and claim that somehow it's not real music. Granted, I love a lot of their hard rock stuff, but the ballads were of far more depth and credibility than teen pop stars.

I have seen the Goo Goo Dolls in concert and was actually surprised at just how hard they can rock, for real. Their CD's are a little soft and obviously go through quite a bit of production to make it poppier, but live they really can crank it out.

Did Anti Guy give the Goo Goo Dolls a good rating? I must be seeing things.
