Weezer is one of those bands you just can't help but love. They write good, tight songs with catchy hooks, they're talented in what they do and they write a lot of music about girls. Now, there is something all of us guys can relate too. So, if this new album doesn't cement them as one of the best bands walking the Earth, I don't know what will.

This album is Weezers third full length and it successfully combines elements of their first two albums (the first- 'Weezer (aka The Blue Album)' went multiplatnum and the videos it spawned made Spike Jonez a GOD..the second-'Pinkerton' didn't do as well sales wise, but still garnered much praise from critics and fans alike). Catchy choruses, tight music, good ol’ rock n roll.

Personally, if you like the first two albums, you definitely need to check this one out for sure. Don't buy it expecting "Say It Aint So Pt 2" or "The Sweater Song-The Saga Continues", because you won't find it. What you will find is 28 minutes (yes, I typed that right..28 minutes) of good, solid poppy rock that we can all enjoy.

Your Turn, What do you think?

They call you
What do you think ?:

dudes and duddettes alike, time, that's all we have in the world, and with time, things change. in time, things evolve, or even dissolve. each and everyone of us here (not HERE, but here on earth or so to speak) are different. thus making our likes and dislikes different. ours is still just an opinion, there is no need for bashing. lets make this a better place, and become christians and all sing songs of praise and hallelujah baby! rock on weezer!

Posted by Brent:
i think you people who think it's just as good as Pinkerton have no idea what you're talking about. You're obviously musically stupid.

Posted by huh?:
I meant, even if you want to make commercial stuff, but still put substance into it.

Posted by huh?:
Going mainstream isn't a bad thing. You should be happy when a band you like makes it. I'm still waiting for Days of the New to be recognized for the RED album. Music should be judged by itself and not by being compared to previous albums and selling out means that you no longer make music for the love of it, with artistic expression in mind. Even if you do want to make some commercial stuff, everyone's got to eat, right?

Posted by weezapal:
Thankyou! I agree 100% with what you said, Dr Fever. One thing that I can never get sick of, is weezer. How could you get sick of kick-a$$ music? And everyone is ranting on about the Green Album's length, or lack of it, but I think it's perfect. Short and sweet. Rock on weezer!

Posted by Rob:
Although this is a GREAT new CD, it is in no comparisn to the second CD "Pinkerton" which will be the favorite of any TRUE Weezer fan.

Posted by AJB:
everybody knockin the length of this album is pointless because after you listen to the 28 min. album you will sit back and just be lik ahhhh! i love that sh*t! i think that this album is a notch better than the first 2. maybe they got a little more mtv, or peppy or whatever, but weezer is weezer and they are still putting out great music.

Posted by benny:
The green album is an absolute masterpiece, in its own right, it's not pinkerton, it's not the blue album, it's the green album! and it likes being green, ok? so get over it.

Posted by Lil Cutie:
I just went to see weezer last night and they rocked!!! I love the green album, but it will never live up to Pinkerton (which they only played one song from at the cocert)...they were being jerks about it too, they were like...here's El Scorcho, the crowd would go nuts and they wouldn't play it. I don't know why, it was by far the most creative musical masterpiece ever completed. (songs 5-8..wow) Anyways, weezer fu*king KICKS ASS, but I hope their next album isn't so straighforward...

Posted by jen:
for all those slamming weezer for "trying to remake the blue album" and "going mtv"- come ON. you would've been pissed at them if they'd done another pinkerton, too. the green album's been in my cd player on repeat for a month and a half now and i've concluded it is the fir[st actu music released in five years.

Posted by Dan the man:
IF you like ANYTHING cool, then you won't like these guys.

Posted by wait , what?:
their first two albums rocked. i mean rocked. but this time they 'polished' their green album to much, they went mtv. the next album which is coming out christmas time will change all that. river's knew what he did wrong, and he is correcting himself w/ the new album which i'm am gladly waiting for

Posted by Chris:
I think that this record is definitly worth buying because it would cheer up even the biggest metalhead. It's filled (well, not filled exactly) with radio friendly songs that continue their traditional sound while also intertwining new ideas not heard from Weezer before. However, from a strictly musical point of view I don't think it quite lives up to the standards set by the "blue record" and especially not by Pinkerton.

Posted by baybegrl:
The "green cover" album is a little short timewise, but it is damn good. Rivers hasn't lost his touch in songwriting. It's a great comeback c.d. and screw anyone else who doesn't agree.

Posted by RocknPop!:
Great new CD but far too short @ only 28 mins long. When's the next one due???All tracks ROCKNPOP! From UK :)

Posted by Schmitty:
This is NOT a good record. It is stale, boring, lifeless, overly-polished, and limp. I think they changed bass players, and their bass was a secret ingredient to the fun music they made before. Where's the fun in any of this record?

Posted by arial:
Why does everone care that weezer went mainstream on this album? Most of the people that say this are the same ones that got turned on to weezer by seeing the buddy holly video. So are they supposed to not have vidoes now because there is a chance that people may like the song. The point of having a band is to be heard, not to hide just in case you might become mainstream. Anyways now that I got off gaurd, the new weezer album is great, it's just feel good music..what more could you want?

Posted by muckX3:
good album...but come on 28 minutes, if they are one the "best bands walking the earth" they can surely at least attempt to fill up a cd. 28 minutes? come on that's an ep in disguise. Anyways i'm going to listen to my Weezer CD... don't worry i won't be gone long

Posted by the good reverend:
Weezer's Green CD is amazing if you like catchy music, but it leaves something to be desired if you think lyrics are an important step in making a good record. The lyrics on this one just aren't there - they're often nonsensical and sound as if Rivers was simply trying to rhyme words. They lack the emotion and the meaning that the songs on Pinkerton and Blue did; while Blue didn't always make sense, the words were always coming from somewhere.

Posted by Anthony:
This album has convinced me that Weezer can't put out a bad CD. It's great to see Weezer make a comeback after most people thought they were gone!

Posted by Danman:
I think this album is good but nothing compared to their first album (the blue album) each song on that album provides a different side of weezer's artistic ability. The Green ablum lacks that quality. Much of the album sounds bland with the excpetion of Dont let go and Glorios Day. The Album delivers but not enough to put it on the same shelf with the 2 other albums.

I like it, although some songs are slightly repetitive. Although Hash Pipe is the most widely played, glorious day is the most exciting. This one is less anger and sadness (ok, nearly no anger and sadness in their melodies at least), and mostly lots of pretty harmonies from Rivers Cuomo. I think he is almost ready for a personal image change, but I doubt he will make one. His geek-cool image is teetering on the cliff of played out. I certainly don't think he is fronting as a shy little man, but perhaps that is what has HELPED the popularity of Weezer.

Posted by jennifer cuomo:
weezer is just an awesome band and if you dont like them then you taste in music is very limited

Posted by Dr Fever:
if ANYTHING weezer qualify as being more like an Emo/Indie rock band..a little poppy maybe..but, not pop punk. Not even close.

opps confused...see too many cervesa's

Posted by aG:
I'm cunfused where do some of these people get that Weezer is punk-pop? Come on give them more credit than Green Day and Blink-182 not only do they write better songs they play and sing better! I just don't hear the punk-pop thing.

Posted by headbanging_munky:
i usually listen to heavy sh*t...like pantera, slipknot or SOAD and i think pop music is crap. but for some reason i can't help being addicted to these goddamn catchy tunez of weezer. i may need therapy..."say it ain't soooo"

Posted by SubXavier:
Umm... Brodsky... their video -is- being played a moderate amount on MTV. Doesn't mean I don't love 'em, though...

Posted by BRODSKY13:
THEY SLOD OUT? ARE THEY PLAYING THE NEXT WOODSTOCK? NO IS THEIR MUSIC VIDEO CONSTINTLY PLAYING ON MTV? NO THEIR DOING THE SAME THING THEY DID ON THEIR FIRST ALBUM. PLAYING GEEK ROCK. ALL THEY HAVE DONE IS GROWN UP AND GOTTEN BETTER. IS THAT A SIN TODAY, TO MATURE AS MUSCIANS? THIS C.D. IS A DAMN GOOD C.D. SO DEAL WITH IT

Posted by Punker:
Fever, I was reading the Joey Ramone Tribute and you said your self, that Sid and Joey would cringe at poppy punk (you stated Green Day and Blink), so why do you give this poppy punk band such a good review?

Posted by Dr Fever:
I have no proofreader, and i'm to damn lazy to check for typos..so..uh....sorry. hehe.

Posted by "Farmer from Norway, Horntvedt":
weezer is the best band on earth! They`re just great! the green album rule the world

Posted by Amethysst:
3 words...This album rocks...love them, love them, love them

Posted by Rock Star:
Green Album kicks it all the way! Weezer is back in force! I think this album has the potential to outdo the blue album in sales. But hey, that is just me.

Posted by Josh:
They right good song Fever. Damn and all this time i thought it was write. j/k. Had to call you on that. I have to say this is by far my favorite Weezer CD.

Posted by Dr Fever:
Not sure how you can say (let alone think) that weezer sold out..i mean, sure, every album has been stylisticly different, and they've grown as musicians while rivers has grown as a songwriter, they are still the same 'nerd rock gods' that they were when the blue album was released and going double platnium..think about that for a sec too..first album: 2x platnium. second album: gold (maybe) third: to be determined. I thought the idea of selling out was to sell MORE records each time..not less. Just my opinion though.

Posted by METALHEAD:
Personally its way too mainstream, they sold out like all the rest, sorry but I have to say the "blue"one is by far the best, and whats up w/ this 28 min long sh.t..I was expecting alot better and in return I get this pop-cheesey bullcrap

Posted by Jason:
The Green Album is the best pop offering I've heard in a long time. I'd rather have 28 minutes of perfection than 55-60 minutes of crap. Long live Weezer!!

Posted by Mark:
The Green Album by Weezer rules. Weezer rules. And they will continue to rule forever. Buy this CD!

Posted by Alecia:
I really like "the Green Album" by Weezer...my only complaints are that the CD is only 28 minutes long!!! And, I think they went a little mainstream, but Weezer still rocks! And I still stand by them 100%!!
