“Morning View” is the fifth offering from Incubus and as such shows the band progressing nicely. While not as raw as their first couple of releases “Morning View” proves that Incubus knows how to rock. And it is rock that is the focus here not the current traipsing of rap-metal. Sure they are as guilty as any modern hard rock band of venturing onto the dark side with rapping and down tuned guitars but on Morning View they for the most part forgo that tried and true formula and instead concentrate on melody, yes you get some hard rocking heavy songs but Incubus doesn’t lock themselves into any predetermined mold either. They offer up some nu-metal cuts as well as modern rockers, even funky rockers and power-pop. The only real complaint is with the overuse of “scratching” on a couple of tracks, which instead of adding flavor to the songs come across as a distraction.

Incubus may not be the best band on the scene at the moment but they once again hold their own and offer up a strong album that helps them land a cut above the norm.

"Sure they are as guilty as any modern hard rock band of venturing onto the dark side with rapping and down tuned guitars" Hmmm, well seeing as the only alternate tuning Mikey has ever used in an Incubus song is drop-d, I think you're wrong.

I am in love with the band incubus and i think that the CD Morning Views is one of there best Cds ever. Even though a crow left of the muder might be a little different i still love there music. And to the lead singer, Brandon Boyd, you will always bw the best and i will love you till the day that i die. Your music means and touched me in ways that i have never thought possiable. I love you!!

Posted by jessica:
i totally agree... Dirk is very much needed. you can listen to "A Crow Left Of The Murder" on MTV.com and you'll see the band just isn't the same without him... they're still good.. but something is missing :(

Posted by bob:
Bring back Dirk Lance!

I think that this particular album (Morning View) has one of the best portrayed settings of every emotional balance it can offer. Its in my best commentary that Morning View is one of the best Incubus albums that has ever been released. This CD has indeed helped me overcome obstacles that aren't at all easy to dominate.

Posted by Hypersuey:
I am a HUGE 'incufan' (lol) and this album is not my fave which is MAKE YOURSELF, not my second either... but still not my last pick... just because I only really listen to 1/2 the songs anymore and can listen to 2 of the other albums entirely...it is good that they have evolved.. 'choose anew, please evole, take flight'(ascog from SCIENCE)...times change and so should music... can't wait for the next album... it should be amazing! out 2004 but catch lolla this year and hear some new sh*t...lolla 2003 baby here I come!!! :)

incubus is my favourite band and im proud till the day i die. i love all their albums and i'd just like to say that morning view was a great album full of experimentation and beauty. i know science and make yourself were awesome albums but seriously if they did keep that same style as in science or make yourself people would just get bored with it...this way they remain interesting. i love incubus and i think that brandon has the most beautiful voice i've ever heard come out of a guys mouth..unique..not to mention the sExiness of him also! i feel that incubus' lyrics have definitely matured and i think in a very positive way because they are lyrics people can relate to more now... good job incubus oh and by the way incubus was never "rap" ...how disgraceful! my favorite songs on this album were probably mexico, echo, and ooo warning is absolutely amazing!

Posted by ju:
man incubus rules. but i do really think that the scratching was annoying.

Posted by incubuscat:
it an awesome CD but i have to admit i prefer the older albums, they had balls. Before Brandon was a sex symbol,he sang and acted however the hell he wanted and it was sweet.... now he has to be careful not to ruin his image.

Posted by rockergirl:
i think this album is really good, but it seems like incubus has "mellowed down" for good... how i wish they would go back to their style in SCIENCE and make yourself... this band is my favorite for now, including puddle of mudd... and the nirvana also smashing pumpkins :)

Posted by Nicole:
Incubus is an excellent band... All of their albums are absolutely amazing!

Posted by LittleLucyLu:
Being a self confesed INCU-NUT I cant say that My opinion will not be based on my sheer obsession with the guys but here goes......... Morning view is a progression in their music and we can see over the five albums the guys becoming more amd more musicaly mature! Morning view is not my favorite incubus album, but it has some of my all time favorite songs on it (Are you in? is amazing). It shows Incubus can do any thing and any thing, Aqueos Transmmision is the type of song u dont expect but is a beautiful track, and no matter how different to all their other stuff it is, it still has and Incubus feel! These Guys amaze me time after time!

Listen guys...SCIENCE, Make Yourself, and Morning View are ALL equally good, amazing albums! Anybody who only likes one or two of these albums is a closed-minded music listener. I hate the people who say that they are girlie music or they sold out or they're boring now, and at the same time I also resent whoever said that SCIENCE is just noise. There is plenty of music out there that could be qualified as just noise (Slipknot, Mudvayne, etc), but SCIENCE is far from that. Now I will say that Make Yourself was my introduction to Incubus, and I was unsure of which Incubus album I should buy next, since I feared that SCIENCE would be too heavy and/or that Morning View would be too soft. I went with SCIENCE since it was cheap, and I thought it was just as great as Make Yourself. I'm not a big fan of heavy music, and while SCIENCE is certainly heavier than Make Yourself, it's not mere noise as I mentioned before. There are plenty of actual tunes on the album, not to mention very inventive and thought-provoking lyrics and sounds, just like on Make Yourself. It's a diverse album too, all the songs stand on their own. Kinda like SOAD's Toxicity (an amazing album itself) in those senses. Then shortly after I picked up Morning View as well. And was thrilled with that as well. It's not really all that soft at all, there's a variety of sounds...definetely more acoustic guitar, but there's heavier songs to balance it out and some really unique songs that just can't be described. And while they have changed musically, one thing that has never changed is their amazing lyrics. Summary: all three of these albums are great, and any true music lover will feel that way. Incubus and SOAD are my two favorite bands now, and I plan on picking up Fungus Amongus soon to complete my Incubus collection.

I think that 'Morning View' is a great album. 'Make Yourself' was a excellent album but Morning View does make for a very good follow up to the very sucessful album Make Yourself. It may have mellowed out a bit, but it shows Incubus in their element and it seems they were in a much better place while making the album.

I personally think that Morningview was a great album. I just saw Incubus live and they honestly don't give one what people think so I'm not even quite sure why I'm writing this,I guess because I'm one of the biggest incubus fanatics living. It might have been a step down from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Make Yourself, but those two are my favorite so I maybe biast. It's better than Fungus. Then again, it's hard for me to pick a favorite because I love them all! MAKE YOURSELF!

Posted by Steve:
this cd, is purely an awesome display of the many talents of Incubus

Posted by Girl of true Rock:
well i just saw them live and the F*ing rocked! anyone that doesn't think that Incubus is one of the greatest can just go to hell! Has anyone ever listened to the old stuff? like fungus amongus? it's awesome stuff! Just b/c they don't curse and scream all the time, people diss 'em. They did NOT sell out as some people put it. They just experimented with different sounds ad styles and guess what? It ended up getting better every album! You better learn to love Incubus, b/c they're going to be around for a LONG time!

Posted by The walking dead man with no face:
Well i think incubus sold out, and are girlie music, and Trl sucks by the way.

Posted by CyCo #13:
Well more of a hardcore kind of guy. I would say I love this cd. It is nice to wind down to. I just got this one burned it it is the stuf I might go out and buy one. Also would like to see them live one day.

Posted by blackdove1983:
ilove incubus they are quite lyricly talented

Posted by PsychoMonkeyGirl:
well, I was kinda disappointed at first when I got the CD. I'm a HUGE fan of Incubus, but I liked it better when they had that slight punk or heavy edge to their music. I think Make Yourself was an excellent album, and can't be matched, but Morning View is great. It really focuses on the melody and ignores all that rap-metal crap that's getting so popular. I was happy with it.

who is the person asking about Greg Gauthreaux?

Posted by punker321:
Everyone loves Incubus, and if they dont??? They simply aren't cool.

Posted by loganb04:
every band must grow whether it be good or bad and in the case of "morning view" i found it to be a positive growth. from the melodic to the rambunctios this album is above exuberant. its starts out with the melodic yet driving song "nice to know you" which more and more people are learning about since they released it as a single. to the strange but extremely relaxing "aqueous transmission" it is no doubtedly there best accomplishment yet and if you know any thing about musical growth then you will respect there ballsy move to do what they wanted to in a world of crying babies (staind) and how the music world is kinda of like the end of the 80's hair band stage thats all these bands are bit INCUBUS is a shot of positive energy which will never grow old they are a timeless have fun smoke marijuana look on the brighter side live life to the fulles and one more thing before i go remember...DONT EVER BE THE SAME

Posted by Jimmy. Or Maybe Andy.:
People that like S.C.I.E.N.C.E. = people that really, really can't tell the difference between "noise" and "music". And these people obviously don't listen to Pink Floyd. I find a lot of that band's influence on this album. That, and some Zeppelin. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. sounds like a slightly different normal hard-rock album to me; it's just noisy. Personally, I want melody and a backbone to the noise, which Incubus began to provide with certain songs on Make Yourself and went off, full-blown, in Morning View. This stands on the top of my list of favorite albums right now.

Posted by Speemo112:
I am awestruck by this band as a whole. They go from album to album changing and changing getting better and better. And to you people who condemn them for not being like the supposed "OLD Incubus" realize that bands can't stayed locked into the same formulas... in order to stay interesting they must change and evolve.

Posted by Dirt Dog:
If you like N'sync And Backstreet Boys You'll Love this album but If you were an Incubus Fan before this CD was released and enjoy good music then you will know this album sucks. Incubus can do much better then this, listen to S.C.I.E.N.C.E or Make Yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Posted by CrazyBumFungus:
I don't like this album. I'm not really an Incubus fan, but I kinda like S.C.I.E.N.C.E. I heard this CD and it had the same effect on me as Staind's music.... put me to sleep. BORING!

Posted by Helen:
This CD is their best. Every song is f*cking amazing.

Posted by Sarah :
I really like this CD. It's really different from their other music, and although it was all good, this is a good change. It adds more to them that we neevr knew was there!:) I'm really impressed with it!

Posted by me:
This album is the most musically genius work i have heard as of yet. incubus' older albums do rock and love them cuz i've been a fan from since the beginning, but morning view shows a different side of incubus that i love..it is pure genius. by the way, metal militia..where are you from? there was this band in my town, fairfax VA, called metal militia..i knew the drummer, greg gauthreaux..you know him or that band?

Posted by sannetje:
The cd is indeed different from the others, but Incubus only gets better! I love them, and especially their new cd!!

Posted by BK:
I agree,Metal Militia.This isn't a bad album(what I've heard of it anyway),but their other albums are much better.

Posted by metal militia:
what kinda rubbish was that?? im tellin ya this aint incubus.. SCIENCE was way better

Posted by Juli:
i really love this cd. the only other incubus cd i have is make yourself which is all good too! but this ne has good beats and its all around so good, i constantly find myself with one of their songs in my head...which tels u something

"the sky resembles a back-lit canopy with holes punched-in-it." how eloquent and original.

Posted by ace:
Morning View is a testament to the creative spirit that Incubus displayed on Make Yourself. While owing a debt to grunge and rap rock, the group continues to carve out its own niche in the increasingly homogenous world of modern rock. This album displays the group's talent for both rocking out and mellowing out without skipping a beat. Incubus is one of those bands that do what they feel without apology. It's a risk that pays off nicely.

Posted by cheapsk8chick:
i love incubus and that's it! they amazed me once again as they raised to another level of their music...i love you bRANDON!
