The thing is basically that I along with many people am just so annoyed with the music business as a whole (i mean who REALLY wants to listen to someone talk over a machine making a beat (rap) or listen to a $hitty "rock" band sing a crappy three minute ode to everything that is evil and depressing while playing three power chords over and over again?) The reason i involve Puddle of untalented rednecks in this is the fact that they exemplify the disgusting traits of the music biz nowadays. And the fact that they ever even ASSOCIATED with Fred Durst, let alone be his puppet (which i agree with) makes them fools, just like LImp Bizkit. All i mean to say is just really think about what you are listening to. Music isnt meant to make the musician look cool, or help the listener maintain an image (punks, etc.), or stir up hate (rap, hate rock, heavy metal). Music, in its essence, is meant to please the listener, and nothing else.

First of all, Wes is HOT, hot, HOT! Love him, his sultry, sexy rough voice. He sings with conviction, his heart and all of his emotion, love to see that raw edge when he belts it all out for his fans.
Secondly, the drummer is HOT, hot, HOT! Yes, hot. Not a fan of long hair, but with him... I will make an exception.
Love the lyrics. They have meaning, purpose and best of all they can be understood.

i think the truth about this band is that they are ok. they sound so similar to nirvana at times its scary. one band that comes to mind when i think of rock, and differeing opinions, is creed. i like creed, yes stapps voice is like vedders, but at least some of creeds lyrics are meaningful, anyone whos been through real depression knows it, as does anybody with a soul. so while the singing sounds like pearl jam, some of there songs are actually very deep like arms wide open and faceless man. puddle of mudd on the other hand, well there lyrics are pretty meaningless, or just stating the obviously like in blurry.

Puddle of Mudd is one of my favorite bands. I'm very diverse in what I listen to- rap, rock, "pop", etc... it doesn't matter if other people like the music you listen to... you shouldn't have to explain why you like a band... usually people just listen to whatever they feel good listening to. Usually I listen to music that sends out a good message and makes me take interest in that person/band.

I used to be called huh?, but I changed my name. I've also grown as a critic. Here's what I have to say now. Puddle of Mudd have got the most accurate name in rock. You CAN rip off a sound of music. Good music has creative vision. These guys do not. They do not sound a little bit like AIC or Nirvana, they sound a LOT like AIC or Nirvana. Anyone who thinks that this is original or fresh needs to be slapped. Their instrumentals are not only unoriginal, but bland and uninspired. At least Creed, on their debut album, had some instrumentals that were inspiring if not completely original. The lyrics to POM are completely immature. Nothing really intelligent and thoughtful. Anyone who thinks that AIC are crap, is an idiot. AIC were innovative. They had beautiful, perfectly rendered instrumentals, an original sound, and poetic lyrics. The reason "haters" have many positive reviews is because at times we find something with originality, meaningfullness, and good songwriting chops. Everyone does NOT copy everyone else. Some people are inspired and have influences to be heard, but many still have a creative vision nonetheless that allows them to keep their own sound. Take Led Zeppelin for example. They were heavily influenced by a lot of blues, rock, and folk acts, but still had their own sound. Black Sabbath were inspired by the Beatles and Cream, yet still had their own sound. POM do not.

You can't rip off a sound or style of music. You can be influenced by it, but you can't rip it off. Songs themself are what you can rip off, like when Vanilla Ice ripped off David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure" for "Ice, Ice, Baby" and called it his own tune. But you can't rip off a style, just be influenced by it. Puddle of Mudd from what I've heard aren't as talented as some give them credit for and they do represent how modern music is about style moreso than substance, these guys aren't that talented, yet get plenty of airplay and exposure, while someone like Travis Meeks's Days of the New (YOU MUST HEAR THE RED ALBUM) can barely become successful.

There is a difference between not liking a band and knowing that they are a symbol of everthing wrong with popular music, much like Poison was in the 80's, and Limp Bizquick in the late 90's. The thing is, if REAL music fans wants bands that actually know what the hell they are doing with their instruments to get attention, then we must point out to people, in no uncertain terms, why bands that are mediocre at best should not be given money for their cum-laden redneck drivel. I love Puddle Of Mudd. They area great band and deserve every little bit of gratitude. They have worked their asses off to get where they are now. Besides, the music is great, the videos are great and the direction of the videos is very well done by Fred Durst. Not everyone has the same opinion as somesone else, so if you don't like them fine. Yeah I dont really listen to nirvana or this alice in chains thing everyone keeps talking about. all i know is that i absolutely love every single song on pom's album. it may sound a little like some otehr bands, but im telling you that the lyrics are teh part that sets pom apart from the rest of the crowd. Alice in Chain haha, I gues you HATE Godsmack, Who is a TOTAL Rip off of AIC. If you know Any background on these guys they are not just a puppet of Durst, Fred Only got them introduced and promoted, Each has had careers on their own, Greg The drummer was in Eleven who was the Band behind Chris Cornell on his Euphoria Morning album and Tour. He is an amazing drummer, Doug was in the Heavy version of Vanilla Ice. yeah everyone hates Vanilla but hey he was touring and making it. Wes has had Puddle of Mudd for over 8 years, was a sucessfull band in Kansas City, but the band broke up, Wes gets a demo in the right place and was able to make his Dreams.. What the hell is wrong with that. Yes you can hear other bands in their music but if you listen to ALMOST EVERY OTHER Band out there, your gonna hear rehashed music over & over. And there are about A MILLION people out there that so far will dissagree with what has been said here. The album is right at Platium status so.. go figure.
