Not a bad effort from ill nino, they still come off as a poorman’s Soulfly which isn’t surprising when you consider they are on Roadrunner a label that has a tendency to regurgitate their top bands with second and third rate clones.  Also of note is the fact that is was Dave Chavarri brief stint with Soulfly that inspired him to form this group.

I was prepared to absolutely hate this CD but found myself unconsciously getting into it. It’s true it takes the six members in this band to create a noise that other groups can create with three members.  This is brutal in your face nu-metal, which is really hard-core with a new spin.

Ill nino isn’t very diverse when it comes to songwriting and the songs all pretty much fall into the same category with a similar sound but what the hell, they know what they like and stick with it. Flaw is far better in the songwriting and diversity department but songs like “Unreal” and “What Comes Around” really show ill nino’s nu metal character, going from melodic verses to bone-crushing hard-core choruses.  Max Cavalera doesn’t quite have to worry yet about being dethroned but given a few more years, if ill nino keeps at it and nu-metal doesn’t die out Max might have to watch his ass!

I don't know what band you were from Tim but it doesn't matter because all the bands that played with us basically sucked. Funny how all those people came to see us and not you. Makes you wonder who really sucks. In case you can't figure it out it's you. and thanksd for the girlfriend comment because that either means you're a fagget or you are going to be a lifelong virgin. Maybe a combination of the two. This is Tekoa's guitarist signing off and may i say that Tim doesn't know crap about music or chicks and will die alone playing his skin flute.

I have played a show with Tekoa~sun and may I say that it was one of my least satisfying shows I've played. Personally, I didn't think they were all that special, and their girlfriends are skanks who wish other guys would hit on them so they can feel hot and sexy to everyone around them. Not that their girlfriends reflect negatively upon them, per se, but they seemed to be mostly stuck up bitches nonetheless. Furthermore, the wall of sound that I heard while standing in front of the stage can only be described as some kind of prog-metal. I like prog-metal, but this was some other sort of prog-metal, like... crap-prog-metal or something. From a fellow musicians stand point, I am baffled at their amps EQs as well. I have the same amp as at least one of the guitar players, therefore I know that it was EQ'ed to basically the worst possible settings. IT WAS OBNOXIOUS! They also played first, then as soon as they were done, packed up their crap and left with many of the spectators as well. What kind of band manners are those? Perhaps someone should show me how I'm mistaken here...

Tekoa Sun Rocks, you fool! And the last I heard "Bongo Boy" joined Banana Republic in Baja, California. All of them have an extensive music background--they just didn't pick up a guitar one day and ponder, "I'm gonna be a rock star, dude. So get real tekoa-suck2, and tell us you're jealous.

Posted by Tekoa_Suck2:
I think the Tekoa Suck kids need to realize they dont have a band they have a "Group". They have a Kid that thinks hes a musician but plays the damn bongos. And the only one in the whole gorup with any musical talent at all is their drummer jimmy. So all I have to say is get a life Tekoa Suck cause Brittany "PFC Rose" did and u guys should too.

Posted by jimmy jimmy jimmy:
thank you for your input PFC Rose we will take it into consideration. Keep us updated, check your mail. :D -Jimmy we love you

Posted by xdeftonesx:
ill nino is so bad ass. i agree that they don't compare with soulfly but they bring the latin beats along with the metal to create an awesome noise. good band!

Posted by DeViLiSh_Jo:
the only thing i have to say is that... they are unbelievable!

Posted by Ember:
I dont know how people can make ratings about bands, they say good stuff about it and then trash it the next paragraph. Im sick of people saying bad things about Ill Nino, they obviously need to open their ears and listen to what is being given. Ill Nino has talent that most bands dont. They dont sound like Soufly excpet for Cristians voice. The music has a different sound and I dont know why people are comparing them to Soulfly. Yes, Dave was the drummer for Soulfly back in the day but that doesnt mean that the other members sound like them too. I personaly think that Ill NIno has the most talent in the nu-metal scene.

Posted by kenn|aboy{[°_°]}:
that is one of my favorite albums in my collection... some very very nice tracks... some like "god save us", "unreal" and and and... buy it...

Posted by the ram:
the album is F@#$en awsome hell im suprised that antimusic had this album on review! soad is awsome!

Posted by ybor_knight:
I have seen Ill Nino live 3 times now & the CD has outlived any other as far as longevity in my player. Revolution has been a favorite since its release. Their blend of pure raw energy and melodic breakdowns are inspiring. The fusion of latin percussion and modern metal is a lasting force in todays music. No one has done this as well as Ill Nino...I don't care who started it or who gave them their break, (MAX C.) they are the best!

Posted by Anarebel:
They're good, but still young. I listen to them a bit, but they haven't hit my high rotation yet. Nothing is that catchy. They don't replace the loss of melody with much. They're still good, but not all that stand-out good.
