Originally recorded in 1997 the self-titled release from Eso Charis gave us a glimpse at another side of Living Sacrifice bassist Arthur Green and drummer Matthew Putnam. While the music retains a hard-core metal base it also explores areas of Alternative and Nu Metal with vocals riding the recent primal scream wave. The riffs are heavy with a merciless bass and drum rhythm thrusting the songs forward in a chaotic metalcore fashion. Unlike the other Living Sacrifice offshoot Soul Embraced, Eso Charis concentrates more on power than being melodic.  The riffage here is a notch above most of today's lightweight nu-metal groups, which makes this album a good choice for metalcore fans looking for something a little different.
