Iron Maiden had the guts to have Slayer as their openers here in London, and Maiden weren't at all outplayed by the trash titans like Megadeth, Slipknot and so on..AND THAT'S SOMETHING THAT NOT EVERY BAND CAN DO!!

Bono
AntiMusic rap loving? HA! HA! HA! that is the funniest thing I have ever heard. I'm with t bone you morons need to go back to your iron maiden site where you can talk out your asses to each other we aren't buying it here.

You are all suckers!
HAHAHA Pathetic you people don't see that this band is pushing there new album because no one is buying it. HAHAHA KISS out sells Maiden. These guys couldn't crack the top 40 and Metallica goes to #1 who are the has beens?

Lars
OLD MAIDEN = GOOD NEW MAIDEN = BAD

T-bone
I love these people who are calling this site rap loving trendies. Geez it's obvious they have never been here before. GO AWAY AND DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE ASS ON YOUR WAY BACK TO YOUR IM MESSAGE BOARD!

Cyberstomper
I remember reading these very same complaints on the boards at the maiden site when the tour was going on and the same five or six people kept calling the ones who complained not real fans. A real fan would want to hear ALL the music not just the new stuff like some johnnie come lately's.

Bob
I hate you music press rap-loving idiots. Iron Maiden was the greatest concert I've ever seen. Brave New World is the greatest album I've ever heard. I'm sure it would satisfy the moronic masses if Iron Maiden would've put out an album of 3 minute rap-influenced anthems. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that Iron Maiden are true artists and do not bow to MTV and what is trendy today. If you can't stomach the 9 minute progressive metal epics they perform, stay home and listen to your rap.

Al Bore
Iron Maiden died when they killed eddie. Metallica and KISS still sell out stadiums on their own they don't need 2 supporting bands to sell tickets. The sad truth that this band and their die hard fans fail to realize is this band's best days are in the past. They can ignore that all they want but it is the truth.

Simon
M7 why are you bothering arguing with these people? They obviously came here from some type of Iron Maiden message board where they bitched about this review. These people are as bad as the boy band fans we argue with here all the time, they will blindly follow their favorite bands to the bitter end no matter what they do. Iron Maiden could go disco and these people would still defend them. If I wanted to hear any band play mostly new stuff I would stay home and listen to that CD. This band hasn't had a decent album since Powerslave and looking at the set list people have printed here most of the songs 75% came from their last three albums. Yeah I would feel ripped off too.

Ishi
First of all, Iron Maiden did not play mostly their new songs. Only 6 songs are off the new record, and a total of 9 songs are from the 1990's. The setlist contains 17 songs. That makes 8 songs from the 80's. So it is just about balanced both ways. "Fear of the Dark" is one of those 90's song, but we might as well call it an 80's one because its a classic and a concert staple. Secondly, why did you go to this show if you did not wish to hear things from their new record? "Brave New World" is a great record, in my opinion, the BEST Iron Maiden album ever put out. You want "Live After Death"??? GO LISTEN TO IT AT HOME! Secondly, Kiss and Metallica ARE washed up. They have gone utterly commercial playing only what is popular and what others want to hear. Iron Maiden has enough dignity to stay ACTUAL ARTISTS. They play what they like to play, they therefore actually FEEL the music they are playing, they actually WANT to play it. If they just played a 'Best Hits' setlist, they would be playing what is popular, not what is necessarily the best. Now sure, I'd have liked to hear some songs, both old and new, but I don't mind, because at the show, I had the best night ever. and Claptrap - Nice, they pissed of their FIVE fans huh? thats why they've had nice crowds at all their shows right? It was the same five people, ah of course, how could I have missed that. and Lagging sales eh? Is this because they havent embraced trends like Metallica and Kiss?? I think I'll stick to the Maiden BB, where there are less idiots.

Maiden86
I would have left too Brave New World is the worst. This band should retire why they still have some dignity left!

bababooeeii
This is why I hate this band. They basically say fukk you to their older fans because they want to appear "current". Take away the old fans and you ain't got squat. How well did Brave New World sell? Pathetic

KK
HALFORD ROCKED! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN HEADLINING AND LET IRON HASBEEN OPEN FOR HIM.

Billy
Iron Maiden? Are they still around?

Proud of the Past.
You are right this was a sh itty tour for a sh itty album. This band is not even a pale shadow of what they were. No wonder they don't want to be labeled a nestalga band that's all they have going for them. Brave New World sucked big time it was one long rock opera symphinic experiment with the exception of wickerman maybe if they still played metal people wouldn't be pissed when they play the new songs cuz then it wouldn't suck so much ass!

Nigel
Ohh look at all these whiners. If I were to guess it would be 20% of the fans went to only hear the BNW stuff and the rest to hear all of it. My advise leave the next tour to these idiots who only want new songs and they can see them in small clubs which will be better for them.

Glenn
I agree with both sides of this to a point. I wouldn't want to hear the same songs over and over again on every tour but I also wouldn't want to hear mostly the more recent songs. It's a double edge sword, you can't win either way.

Keavin
I am glad that there were a lot of fans who weren't disappointed with this show. If someone wants to send us a contradictory fan review we will be more than happy to post it. We are not here to slam bands, we have never been about that. We leave that to Rolling Stone and other music publications. I realize that any band that has been around as long as Iron Maiden has is not going to please all of their fans with the selection of songs they play. Iron Maiden has a lot of great songs and they have always been a full album band, meaning the entire album is great not just the singles. To expect them to play all of the songs that fans want to hear is ludicrous the show would be 10 hours long. (although that wouldn't be a bad thing per se) Like I said in this review it is totally understandable that Iron Maiden wouldn't want to be out giving the impression that they are living on their past. Brave New World was a great CD but I am one of the people who would have liked to hear a bigger mix of old and new. Perhaps after having just done the "Ed Hunter" tour last year they felt that the fans got their fill of the classics? I can't speak for them, only offer up my opinion of the show. You can agree or disagree with my opinion. I for one was disappointed that they focused primarily on the newer material at the expense of the old. I know I am not alone in that opinion, then again people feel equally as strong with the opposite view. And that is the problem with reviews, all you get is one person's opinion. I have offered my opinion of this tour and you have the chance with this Fan Speak section to offer your own. We are not like Rolling Stone who pretends that they are the all knowing. We offer our opinions and allow the fans to offer their own as you can see by the responses below.

metallica7
and as an adder to Jack Burtons post... hey KaliSUn ummm Kiss has been doing it and playing to sold out shows for 28 years. i'd like to see you name one of your fav artists (other then elvis) that can claim that also. if their washed up seems their doing a damn fine job of it

Jack Burton
Kiss isn't washed up? HAHAHA!!! Ace Frehley's backup vocals sounded like a bad Henry Kissinger voiceover. Washed up is a term you can use to describe any band who, performance-wise, got their asses handed to them by Ted Nugent.

Jack Burton
The thing is, it'd be easy for Maiden to go out there, trot out two new tunes and then go into greatest hits mode for the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, you get known as a nostalgia act when you do too much of that, especially when you aren't the newest band on the block and the new material translates very well live--especially to an audience already familiar with the new album.

Claptrap
Looks like this review pissed off Iron Maiden's five fans. What a joke. KISS and Metallica are not washed up but it looks like Iron Maiden is. And Queensryche sucks ass little fairy geoff tate singing like he has no balls. They should have called this tour the "has beens tour"

KaliSUn
I was at that show, and I was there with my boyfriend. I went to see Queensryche, the only band there I didn't think sucked ass. I was wrong Iron Maiden rocked the place. I couldn't tell the difference between old and new songs, and they were all good. The audience was really into every thing. Hardly anyone was sitting down at all I don't know what you all are talking about. why would a band only play old stuff anyway? That's for washed up bands like Kiss and Metallica. I went and bought Brave New World the day after the show and its AWESOME. you, Mr. Reviewer, suck ass.
