Khan you are right Iron Maiden always plays a lot of songs from their current album they are supporting. However, they usually break up the new songs up in the set with some classics to keep everyone happy. I did like the new CD quite a bit, not as much as my fav album Piece of Mind mind you. And the show would have went over a lot better if they wouldn't have front loaded the set with mostly all new songs and threw some more classics in for the people like me who go to a show and like to hear songs from all of the CDs. Some people may get sick of hearing The Trooper or Run to the Hills live every tour, but I for one don't. And could never get sick of hearing them live. I couldn't image seeing Ozzy and not hearing Crazy Train or seeing AC/DC and not hearing Back in Black. But like I said in my original post I saw AC/DC the week after this show and they played 3 songs from their current CD but mixed them up with a ton of classics. And no one was complaining about hearing the new songs. At the Iron Maiden show I would guess that half of the people don't own Brave New World so they didn't know the songs and when they were all played towards the beginning of the set you could see the energy of the crowd dragging. To MRBEAST to call me a moron because I think that fans go to a concert to hear music from a bands entire career is MORONIC. Believe what you want but you are apparently the exception to the rule if you go to a show only wanting to hear the new songs. As a reviewer we have to call them like we see them. But we always let people offer their own opinion, to say we have no integrity because you happen to disagree with the opinion expressed in the review is not valid. If we didn't let you express differing opinions then you might have a case. And finally to Jack Burton I agree if more people heard the new songs on the radio they would buy the CD and could have gotten more into the show but that wasn't the case. Like I said before if they would have broken the set up more with older songs between the new ones you wouldn't be hearing so many complaints.

Let's compare the Brave New World Tour with the infamous World Slavery Tour that "Live After Death" was recorded from: 1. Wickerman - new song 2. Ghost of the Navigator - new 3. Brave New World - new 4. Wrathchild - classic 5. 2 Minutes to Midnight - classic 6. Blood Brothers - new 7. Sign of the Cross - semi-new 8. The Mercenary - new 9. The Trooper - classic 10. Dream of Mirror - new 11. The Clansman - semi-new 12. Evil That Men Do - classic 13. Fear of the Dark - classic 14. Iron Maiden - classic 15. # of the Beast - classic 16. Hallowed Be Thy Name - classic 17. Sanctuary - classic "Live After Death" 1. Aces High - new 2. 2 Minutes to Midnight - new 3. The Trooper - semi-new 4. Revelations - semi-new 5. Flight of Icarus - semi-new 6. Rime of the Ancient Mariner - new 7. Powerslave - new 8. # of the Beast - classic 9. Hallowed Be Thy Name - classic 10. Iron Maiden - classic 11. Run To the Hills - classic 12. Running Free - classic The Maiden show was amazing. They sure beat Metallica, Korn and all the other lame "metal" bands of today's MTV-influenced "fans".

metallica7
well sad to say...im sorry that "the facts" from everyone in here who went to see Maiden felt cheated other than hmmmm you and 2 other people. thanks for comments tho, i've filed them... in the recycle bin

Khan
I was only contradicting the "facts" you had stated, and making sure the record was set straight. I'm leaving this sad pethetic excuse for a music site now. I'll stick to the Maiden BB where at least when we argue about things, we aren't talking out of our arses about stuff we don't understand.

metallica7
shebeast what are you talking about? im saying i was hooked on maiden since the "killers" album (yes i still have it was well as "beast" on vinyl) not just all of a sudden. look im not gonna get in a pissing and shyting match with anyone. all im saying khan was i work security at all the events and venues here in town directly with the band and the promoters (and no im not some pumped up brain dead jock either). but after the phoenix show, the majority of the fans filing out the gate were talking how they felt rob halfords band (who in support of your new music arguement) was way better then maiden and even tho he only did th new music and a few priest covers with it. im not pissed that oooooo they didnt play tail gunner... whaaaa they didnt play futureal (as an example) i could care less. i was only commenting on how the show seem to me as well as the others in attentence and yeah i was there till they drove out in there limo

MRBEAST
T-boner i guess since your named after dead meat your used to acting like it! Most people with even half a testicle or ovary get hostile when they see B U L L S H I T aimed at them. Nice praise you have for this website. To bad your to blind to see the obvious attempt to get hits. Doesnt a review over a month after the fact raise any questions in your mind? This isnt print-it doesnt take a month to post a review. And there is the link to the official IRON MAIDEN website. Once again the powers that be at sanctuary have called in the people from the MAIDEN BB to save another one of their lagging affiliates A S S E S. You wanna thank someone T-bone thank us. We are keeping your sad little website from going bye bye!

Khan
metallica7 - Oi Vey....geez man. I never said Blaze did any singing. I said they played two songs from the albums that Blaze was on. Of course Bruce sang them.

Jack Burton
It's always nice when you accidentally hit the "add my comments" button after the first partial phase of your statement.

metallica7
and khan blazes didnt even sing here in phoenix it was all bruce

Jack Burton
How many Maiden songs have I heard on the radio PERIOD? Very few.

Khan
Oh, and I forgot to address this... metallica7 - It doesn't matter which specific show I was at, as the band played the exact same setlist in every city in the US on this tour.

T-bone
It looks like a lot of people disagree here. I didn't think the review was too criticle. I didn't go see this tour but have seen them in the past but I can't think of any band that I've ever seen who has played predominantly only the new material. I've seen quite a few bands that have put out a dozen CD's or more and they always mix up the set list so everyone is happy. You can't win because someone is always going to walk away not hearing the song they came to hear. But it looks like in this case there were a lot of those people. But stating that disappointment doesn't make a person an a**hole. But I do gotta hand to this site no matter how the one person reviewing the show or CD feels about it they always let people offer differing opinions. And it looks like people both agree and disagree here. But if people have to resort to name calling just because of differing opinions then they lose the arguement because they can't bakc up their position they have to attack.

Khan
metallica7 - I can't believe you still don't get it. Iron Maiden playing a bunch of new stuff has NOTHING to do with lagging sales. They do that on EVERY tour. Have I not said that now, about 3 times? Oh, and you're wrong about them playing them in order. You gonna try and tell me that after Wicker Man and Ghost Of The Navigator, they didn't play Wrathchild? Oh yeah....another classic. Make that 9 classics. Thanks, I'd almost forgotten about that one.

MRBEAST
mecrappica7 you cant even get your bashing right-your 4 tours and 6 years behind! THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!

metallica7
thank you anti guy. KHAN im talking about the show that was here in Phoenix Arizona. i dont know what show you were refering too. and yeah not just Maiden but any group i go see i would expect to hear their new stuff, no shyt dense wonder thats why they go on tour to support the new cd. but to follow the new stuff track for track off the cd "live" is kinda senseless. and if you bothered to read the other posts from all the other people in here from all over the us. it seems the majority of the people in here are stating the same thing. im not saying give me a "greatest hits tour" i saw that last time on their "bar circuit" tour since they could not sell out the big venues. but lagging sells does not mean play more and more off the new cd to wean the people in making it a classic. how many songs other than the 2 (wickerman comes to mind) have radio stations overplayed on the radio have you even heard played from this cd (airwaves wise)? now i wanna state that im not a band wagon jumper, im not saying im not ever going again, or buying another cd. i've been a true fan of MAIDEN since killers, and even bands of the members were in before maiden, all i was stating that as a true hard core fan i still stick behind them, i was just disapointed with what i saw and listened to. and thats a first out of all their shows i've seen, thats what surprised me was all

MRBEAST
I saw the show this alleged review is about. Apparently Mr. Wiggins left before he admits because his review is a work of fiction! antiguy, you apparently have never been a long time fan of ANY band or you would realise that saying people go to see a band like that to see the old stuff IS TOTALLY MORONIC! I have gone to see IRON MAIDEN at least once every tour since 1983. Do you think i want to see the smae set list i have 16 other times? The set of old material you suggest alienates MAIDEN's oldest most loyal fans. THAT IS MORONIC! Also if your so called reviewers did their job, like watching a show or doing the slightest bit of research, you both would know that last year IRON MAIDEN did a tour based on their old material. You succeded in getting the extra hits your sad little website needed to pay the bills. What will you do for an encore next month now that you have proven your reviewer has no integrity?

The Hanged Man
Out of 17 songs, 6 were from the new disk. Anyone who left when dream of mirrors started made a mistake. At the Seattle show, that was the 5th song played. Out of 17. I would have felt ripped off had I left then as well. They are proud of their new material, and want to play it live. Good for them. Any fan has a few favorites. Me, I want to hear To Tame a Land, and Quest For Fire, but I'll have to live with my bootlegs for that:D

Khan
Ok I give up. Sheesh, they played 8 classics to make the casual old fan happy. They played 6 songs off the new album to keep the die hard fans who want new stuff, happy. They even played 2 songs off their albums with Blaze Bayley as lead singer, for those who liked them. Instead of people being happy, they take a lot of crap from seemingly all sides. No doubt, they can't please everyone. Seems they can't friggin please anyone. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be in the company of you so called, "fans".

Record Exec
We instructed the band to paly all of their new CD because it wasn't selling. So blame us not the band.

Genenut
I haven't bothered seeing Iron Maiden since the Seventh Son tour because I haven't cared for any of there albums since then. I'm a huge KISS fan and if they came out and played most of the Pyscho Circus album and only a few songs from the rest of their twenty odd albums I would be as pissed as these Iron Maiden fans are. Some people would have loved that having heard Rock'n Roll Allnight a zillion times live but more people would be pissed if they didn't play it. I go to a lot of concerts and I can't think of any other band besides Iron Maiden who spends most of their set playing songs fro the album they are supporting. At most you will hear 3 or 4 songs from the current album, unless it is the bands first. But they break those songs up in the set with classics. Some fans may love Iron Maiden for doing this but I for one don't pay $50 to only hear the new stuff. Judging by the post here I am not alone. then again you can't make everyone happy can you? i just think Iron Maiden took a big risk here and I will be interested to see how many people will show up at the next tour or how many supporting bands they will need to sell tickets.

The Hanged Man
I'd like to mention some thing about the "die hard fans". They've been talked about a lot. They've heard The Trooper 30 times live, and wish that they wouldn't play it any more. The die hard fans are sick of hearing the "Hits" that the losers who are stuck in the 80's want to hear. You should have heard all the bitching about the set list. "They're playing Number of The Beast again?". I, as a die hard fan, loved hearing the new stuff. I already own two copies of Run To The Hills live, how many more times do I need to hear it? If you want to live in the past, I suggest the Motley Crue, Cinderella, etc, tour.

Khan
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that a tour is supposed to support a NEW album. Ever notice how 95% of the time bands tour, is right after they release a NEW album? Hmmm...funny how that is. Oh...and they also played The Evil That Men Do. Another classic.

Khan
anti-Tories - puhleeeeze give me a break here. You claim they're ignoring their past fans. Hallowed be thy name Number of the Beast Sanctuary Iron Maiden The Trooper 2 Minutes to Midnight Fear of the Dark Yeah, you're right. They totally ignored their backlog of material. I'm rolling my eyes here, in case you can't tell.

Valimar
Sorry antiGUY Khan is right on. I seen Maiden when the stopped by Cleveland and the show was amazing. They have a good mix of both old and new. I have seen Maiden a number of times Through the years and I have yet to be disappointed with one of their gigs. Remember They went on tour to promote BRAVE NEW WORLD not POWERSLAVE. What the hell did you Expect to hear?

Blas
I went to see this tour in NM and sat through it to the bitter end and felt totally ripped off. I should have left like a lot of other people did because by the time they got around to playing number of the beast half the people were asleep from sitting through the boring new songs. I wasted 20 bucks for Brave New World and listened to it three times and traded it in. I was adiehard Iron Maiden fan but the past few records sound like a rehash of rhyme of the ancient marineer. This band is way past their prime and that fact really showed at the concert as I watched a lot of the people around me leave half way through the show.

Khan
How can someone's review of a concert be right, if they didn't even stay for the whole thing? Oh, and antiGUY, my point (which you apparently missed) was that Maiden throughout their ENTIRE career ALWAYS play a large percentage of brand new songs at EVERY concert. Period. So why is it such a big deal now? Last tour they did a greatest hits tour, since there was no new album. What more do these people want? I, for one, do not want to go see them play the exact same setlist everytime they come to my city.

anti-Tories
If the Europeans love bands that ignore there past fans you guys can keep them. We will see how soon they come crawling back to get the american dollars.

antiGUY
Khan just because someone doesn't agree with you that doesn't make them a moron. I agree with this review and think it made a lot of valid points. He wasn't bashing the new songs, just stating the fact that most people go to a concert from a band that's been around like this want to hear more of the old stuff. Any band that fails to do that is in jeopardy of alienating their fan base. True the people who consider Iron Maiden their absolute favorite band may not mind, but look at the sales of Brave New World contrasted against the sales for the tour and you'll find that these people are in the minority. If Metallica came out and played 6 songs off of Re-load 3 songs off of Load then only 2 songs from the black album and 1 songs from MOP, Ride the Lightening people would be pissed. Iron Maiden can do what ever they want but the people who were disappointed this time around will not bother going to see them if they tour again and everyone loses because of this. If the band doesn't want to live in the past, fine. Then they shouldn't be disappointed when the fans from the past stop going to see them.

Devilboy
Hallowed be thy name, Number of the Beast, Sanctuary, The Trooper, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Fear of the Dark... None of these songs are CLASSIC enough for you? If you want the old stuff, you should have seen them last year on the Ed Hunter tour!

Khan
Metallica7 - Some facts need to be straightened out. #1) They DID play Number Of The Beast. It was the first song of their encore. #2) They played 6 songs from BNW, not 5. All 6 being great songs...many to become future classics. Those same songs people are bitching about being played now, will be the songs they love to hear in the future because they'll consider them classics by then. It happens every tour...people bitch about the new stuff, and say how much they love the classics. The classics they love now, are the songs they bitched about a few tours before.
