Every Time I Die
with Haste The Day, Between the Buried and Me and Bleeding Through
House of Blues in Chicago, IL. on Feb 26th, 2006

Every Time I Die

Every Time I Die kicked off their show at the House of Blues with their new breed of hardcore metal in support of their latest release Gutter Phenomenon. This raucous band had the crowd in a frenzy from the moment they hit the stage. Growing up in the late 80's, I used to have to duck from flying punches and do what ever I could to avoid physical violence walking the halls of my high school. I would go to concerts to blow off some steam and the craziest was to do some headbanging and wake up with a sore neck. I am amazed at how the kids in the audience for Ever Time I Die, and I do mean kids with the average age being about 16, were beating the crap out of each other. There were fist fights, insane body slamming that makes a normal mosh pit look like a sand box, and crowd surfing that was more like body tossing. It was mind blowing to watch, I couldn't believe the violence happening in front of me. And the ones partaking in this flurry of insanity, were having the time of their life. In fact, one crowd surfer lost his shoe and guitarist Andy decided that he would keep it.  The band egged the audience on by giving them some ear candy in the bass driven "Champing At The Bit" with lead singer Keith Buckley asking the crowd to "sing with me Chicago". They fired away with "Romeo A Go-G0", "She's My Rushmore", and " The New Black" which Keith dedicated to the band Bleeding Through. During this onslaught, 1,400 in attendance were clapping in time making this an unforgettable experience. "I Been Gone A Long Time" and "Ebolarama" finished this set off and while the audience was having the time of their lives, I'm sure they wore their battle scars with pride to school the next day like an athlete who gives it his all and takes one for the team, these misspent youths took one for their icon's of hardcore metal, Every Time I Die.
