Taste of Chaos 06

(special intro by Matt Nosek) Taste of Chaos tour 2006, making fans erupt to the bands tearing up the stage. The following bands were the ones who did just that in there performances in Chicago IL. The bands who gave the most promising, exciting, and energetic performances of the evening were Thrice, Atreyu, and As I Lay Dying. Thrice started their performance with “Image of the Invisible” a very chanty song which hooked fans right in with their hands in the air and the lyrics being sung back by everyone in the crowd. They especially got everyone going when they played the title track off of there last CD “The Artist in the Ambulance”. Their live sound was so on that it sounded like hearing their albums through a bunch of extremely powerful speakers.

Next would be Atreyu and the only four words needed to describe them are live, love, burn, die which was the closing chant in their last song “Lip Gloss in Black”. Atreyu blasted onto the set with the song “The Crimson” off the album “The Curse” and had a great mixture off their albums. Their stage antics including glow in the dark guitars, choreographed movement, stage setup, and light show always makes them fun to see.

Finally when As I Lay Dying hit the stage with their song “94 Hours” the fans exploded. With their extreme metal sounds including fast leads, intense double basses, and hectic screaming by the lead vocalist. It’s no wonder they stole the show. Their mix of songs from both their albums were drawn out perfectly. As I Lay Dying’s stage presence was so commanding that it seemed that every fan was connected. Their final song of the night was “Forever” off the album “Frail Worlds Collapse” and that couldn’t have made the place move any harder.

My review of these performances left me to feel that the “Taste of Chaos” tour was truly chaotic.
