antiMUSIC is reluctant to present “Slapped!” with Scott Slapp. He’s been bugging us to do this for a while. So we figured what the hell, let’s give him a shot at it. If he isn’t assassinated by an irate fan, Scott will check in with us every day to tell us who needs to be “Slapped”.

Slapp of the Day: Jacko & The Wacko Media

As always the views expressed by the writer do not neccessarily reflect the views of antiMUSIC or the iconoclast entertainment group

I want to start out by saying, thank you to all the fellow haters that voiced your support for my silly little column.  Apart from a drunken Nikki Sixx wanna be, after Friday's self indulgent slapp, everyone sent in and posted supported comments that they want the slapps to go on.  I'll do my best. So slapps to all of you!  Now on to today's slapp and for a Monday it's a double slapp! But far more serious ones than usual.

Are you ready for the Jacko trial circus and the media overload that goes with it? In the coming months it is going to be impossible to avoid this story and it will make the coverage of the Scott Peterson trial seem as short lived as the Baha Men's career.  I know it is predicable for me to slapp ol' Wacko Jacko. It's the new sport.  I mean this guy was just asking for trouble. Earth people tend to frown on grown men sharing their beds with boys, no matter how innocent you say it is. It just isn't done. Holding a boy's hand during an interview doesn't exactly send the right message either, especially when there had been accusations in the past of pin the tail on the little boy at the Neverland Ranch. That being said, I have not seen the evidence against Jacko and in this country you are supposed to innocent until proven guilty (yeah, like that is ever really the case). So far Jacko has only been proven a major weirdo with extremely bad judgment (just listen to his last few albums… who's bad? Though making bad music isn't a prosecutable crime, just ask Motley Crue).   Some would say where there is smoke there is fire (Are where there is Jacko, there is Wacko). But a lot of things in this case just don't add up. Others do (especially if they really did find porn with Jacko and a kid's fingerprints on it), so I'm reserving judgment until the D.A. makes or doesn't make his case.

So Jacko = freak. Yes, but did he diddle little boys?  I have no idea, he may have but I just can't jump to that easily reached conclusion without knowing more. So I give Jacko a wacko upside the head for being weird and not using his head (and especially for not coming close to topping "Thriller").  The big slapp today goes to the media. I'm in the precarious position of actually agreeing with Mr. Freakshow. The media's handling of this story has been terrible!  When did the mainstream "credible" media turn into the tabloid press?  Any little rumor or leaked tidbit gets reported and of course some of the reporting is written in such away that the reader can only reach one logical conclusion;  Jacko diddled little boys.  I know it's easy to automatically believe the worst about someone as strange as Michael Jackson, but I really can't believe how far objectivity has gone out the window with this trial.  Was nothing learned from O.J.?  And if Michael is convicted are the transsexuals or plastic surgery victims going to riot? I know the name of game is to sell papers and get ad dollars for TV but a lot of people in the press have already crucified Jacko before one word of testimony has been heard. Give the guy his day in court before you castrate him (that is if his plastic surgeon hasn't already done so).  I guess this anger may be misdirected, I really don't care about this trial or Michael Jackson but the mainstream media has really morphed into the worst kind of sensational headline grabbing yellow journalism that would make William Randolph Hearst shake his head in amazement.  Somewhere along the line, the editorial page leaked over into the news and now that Pandora's Box has been opened we are going to have a hell of time closing it. I don't know if the good old days ever really existed, but it would be nice to get back to the media reporting the news, not making it.  I know this wasn't the usual slapp but I had to get that off my chest.  Jacko this slapp is FOR you. To the media, go slapp yourself!

I think Slapp got it right, nobody really know if he has or hasn't been fondling little boys, give him his trial.
