Jealous Haters Since 1998!

We've seen all of the best songs lists but what about the lamest? Sure there have been a few, mostly made by aging hippies, but we wanted a list that represents some of the cheesiest cheese of our generation too, not a list made by people that still lament over the end of Summer of Love and actually gave a damn that Jefferson Airplane sold out as Starship. With that in mind, what started as fun thread on our message boards has turned into the list you see today.

The biggest offenders? When the dust settled, six artists had three songs on the list; quite an accomplishment with a list of only 101 songs. This unscientific survey found that Limp Bizkit, Warrant, Hole, Sheryl Crow, Nsync and Motley Crue were the most responsible for producing some of the lamest songs of all time. Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Poison, Journey and Simple Plan followed close behind with two songs on the list.

Don't agree with the songs our writers and readers came up with?  We'll have Fan Speak at the end where you can sound off and also post your picks for the next lame list, this time around Lamest Artists of All Time!

7-29: Here we are at the final day of this special. This has sparked some spirited debate. To those that got all bent out of shape because a song they liked was listed here, you are taking this far too seriously!  It's a lame list of lame songs. Don't forget that there is still time to make YOUR nominations to the lamest artists of all time list.  Going by some of the submissions so far, the reaction to this list was tame, some of the names listed there will surely get some people all up in arms. But always remember, just because it's lame doesn't mean people don't like it. And of course, it's all very subjective now isn't it? Before you get to the now full list, we leave you with the words of George Bernard Shaw - "The secret to success is to offend the greatest number of people."

101 Lamest Songs of All Time

1) Nookie - Limp Bizkit
Limp Bizkit is the poster child for all that is wrong with popular music. Ever since they first infected popular culture with their jock rock sounds, they have been responsible for some of lamest music ever produced. "Nookie" takes the prize not only for the lamest Limp Bizkit song but the lamest song period with lyrics that could have easily been written by a 1st grader. In short, "Nookie" is the musical equivalent to a fart joke. The only problem for Fred Durst & Co is that the joke is on them!

2) Shut Up – Kelly Osbourne
Does this one really need an explanation?  The deep intellectual lyrics such as "blah, blah, blah" failed to make Kelly a music star for good reason, she can't sing. If you are looking for a screaming argument against nepotism in the music business, Kelly Osbourne will surely fit the bill. It's just too bad that Kelly hasn't taken this song title to heart because let's face it; she obviously got her singing talent from her mother's side of the family.

3) St. Anger – Metallica
St Anger was supposed to be Metallica's comeback but it drove the wedge further between the band and some longtime fans. From the abandonment of guitar solos to the annoying drums throughout this album, this first single drew a lot of heat from fans who wondered "what in the hell happened to Metallica?"

4) Sk8tr Boi - Avril Lavigne
This song is just flat out lame; can we make it any more obvious?

5) Cherry Pie – Warrant
Nirvana didn't kill hair metal; Warrant helped it commit suicide by taking the cheese to a whole new level of lame.

6) I Think I Love You - David Cassidy
A perfect argument for why girls under the age of 12 should not be allowed to buy music.

7) Sweet Child of Mine - Sheryl Crow
A cover that was so incredibly bad that it inspired a movement to ban all cover tunes (not really, but it should have).  This may be the real reason why the new GNR album has been delayed; Axl is still recovering from hearing this song butchered so badly.

8) Gold Dust Woman – Hole
When you have questionable vocal talent at best, you really shouldn't cover a song by one of the best female rock/pop vocalist to ever put her voice to tape. It only highlights your lack of talent. There just may be a special spot reserved in hell for those that butcher songs like this.

9) Butterfly – Crazy Town
Meet the song that helped bring down rap-rock.

10) Ice, Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice
"Quick to the point, to the point no faking  / I'm cooking MC's like a pound of bacon" We'll just let this one speak for itself.

*The listing of a full album instead of an individual song title was not a mistake. When they were submitted the people making the nomination did state that they knew these were albums but the felt they deserved to be listed in their entirety instead of listing 3 or 4 seperate songs from these albums.
