YOU ARE SUCH A JERK!!!!!!LIMP BIZKET ROX!!!!!JUST BECAUSE U DON'T LIKE THEM DOESN'T MEAN U HAVE TO PUT IN ON A WEBSITE!!!!!!

Chucky
I know this is an obscure entry compared to the more recent and obvious ones chosen but about 6 years ago a Hendrix tribute album came out called "Stone Free" . Clapton did justice to the original version of that song and Seal with Jeff beck did justice to Manic depression. And then in the lousiest choice of bands to cover hendrix on the record, they went and chose the Cure of all the bands they could've to cover Purple Haze. A horrible choice and a disgrace to Jimi and the record buyer!

ApoX
Excuse me, but are you spitting on, and talking dirt about Limp Bizkit, 'cause Slipknot say so? Don't get me wrong, I love Slipknot, and the (§ic)ness about it. BUT, let's not forget that Limp Bizkit were much more famous and popular than before Slipknot started their debate against them. I like Nookie & Break stuff of "Significant Other" by Limp. By the way, you should listen to Children of Bodom's cover of Sepultura's Mass Hypnosis. It RulZ! Bye 4 now!

ApoX
Have you heard Dimmu Borgir's cover of Accept's "Metal Heart"? That one was good. Then a band called Rockstar made a cover of Rammstein's "Du Hast"! That one was bad! Shitty! Some covers are good, and others are bad. Let the good ones rule, and the bad ones disappear in time. ApoX Rule the EaRtH! Pantera, by the way, ROCKS!

Em
covers are good if they are done well... faith was ok but soulight's a f**k

Soulight

Baby Blue
Billy Idol did Dancing With Myself, Not the Ramones, oh yeah Union 13's Cover of Roots Radicals by Rancid rules! So does the Ramones' cover of California Sun. And Gotee Hook's Walking on Sunshine, and MxPx's I'm Okay, Your Okay. bizkit s*cks

Grifin311@aol.com
You are definitely right about your #1 pick, that Madonna remake of "American Pie" is just aweful. The best remake in history is CAKE's remake of "I Will Survive" listen to it, it's just awesome. CAKE RULES!

www.animeotaku.com
I'll just add some of my favourite covers: Orgy's blue monday, Bizkit's cover of Ministry's thieves(its a bootleg), Dynamit Hack's cover of NWA's boz-n-the-hood, Blink182's cover of the Ramones' dancing with myself, POD's cover of U2's bullet the blue sky, Puffy's every breath you take(especially when sting did it with him on mtv), Korn and Chino's wicked, Urge Overkill's cover of Niel Diamond's girl you'll..., 30-foot-tall's cover of creep by radiohead, White Zombie's cover of KC and the Sunshine band's boogie man,....I could go on for days, I love covers,....

yennifer
I heard a country version of a Beatle's song but I don't know who did it. In any case, you do not defile the Beatles with country twang. They should burn.

Andy@thespookykids.com
How can you possibly leave American Woman 'by' Lenny Kravits off this list? That cover is as bad, if not worse than American Pie. What the hell were you thinking. But i definately agreed with the rest. Actually, i cant remember ever hearing a cover live up to the original. BIZKIT $UCK$ -andy-

Significant Other
OK, 2 ALL THE DUMB IDIOTS THAT INSULTED LIMP AND ORGY-F*** YOU!!.

All the exclamation marks hurt my eyes.

Hey guys just forget all the $hit ya mentioned as the worst cover ever&give the f**kin crown to Britney Spears!!! Little b***h just meant to cover one of the most kick-a$$ songs ever, "Satisfaction"!!!!!!! i just heard some secs of this song in my little sis's room (yeah my sis likes her-shame) and just tried not to vomit there!! AAAAAAHHH i can kill that fat-a$$!!!!! also guys, sorry but Limp Bizkit f**kin rules...Admit it or not, they do&they don't need your a$$e$ to prove it!!!!

ShroomDevil
I really liked Leif Garret's and the Melvin's cover of smells like teen spirit. Does anyone care? Hello? how low...

chris
orgy's cover for new orders "blue monday" kix a$$!!!! the original verson was so lame and horrible, orgy made a great cover!!!!

Scully
I AGREE Especially with the Madonna bit!

Blonde319
I would have to add Shawn Colvin's entire "Cover Girl" album in which she dedicates an entire album to lame covers. Especially "Every litlle thing HE does is Magic." Whatever!! I think that Semi-Sonic's version of Erotic City was pretty cool. I agree that Marilyn Manson's cover of Highway to Hell was pathetic. "Crimson & Clover" was a good remake by Joan Jett!

mando
i think you S$%!.the remake of faith was awsome!!!!

jackson joe
kid rock, needs to get a life and listen to his music before he sells it nobody want to here about how great his thinks he is, limp bizket or should i say limp noodle, noting like hereing the same power cord for a hole song, enough said

djdarin
I agree with tonkpilssic one of the worst things an artist can do is change the lyrics, for example tiffany singing i saw HIM standing there.

TonkpilsSic
The worst thing any artist can do is change the lyrics with the same melody in the background. You cant change the lyrics to a great song, and then sing you new lyrics to the same music. This was done by busta rhymes when he did "Ironman", also F*@#$ puff daddy to "Kashmir", and Kid Rock with "sad but true." The songs are so bad they just make me want to cry.

djdarin
britney spears cover of stones satisfaction bits it bigger than any other cover. by the way if you wanna hear a cool cover check out travis thrashing britneywith hit me baby one more time

Gotti
Yes I agree Madonna's American Pie was very bad, but this award goes to Busta Rhymes "Iron Man" hands down. He butchers Ozzy's classic.

Laura
I think you're right ... I also wanted to add that dope's version of "you spin me round" is sooo terrible, they should never have done that. BUT, interestingly, there is a good cover of that song that i heard by a band called Uranium 235 that i really liked (one of the few covers i've ever liked), you might find it interested @ http://www.uranium235.com

SubXavier
Arrgh... you made me take a break from my music. I just had to respond to Buff down there: It may sound odd, but I like some bands with singers that can't sing very well. It makes the music have character and strength, and assures you that it was done FOR THE MUSIC, not for the money. And I hope to god you never have a suicidal thought... you wouldn't want to become a loser, now would you.

banana
some artists have built their careers out of making cover versions. i can think of whitney houston doing "greatest love of all" and "i will always love you", vonda shepard and harry connick jr and many others. but i must agree that most remakes sound downright horrible. i guess for madonna after playing eva peron, making remakes of old song has become in'evita'ble. i absolutely hate her version of "american pie". also hated celine dion's "when i fall in love" , that dragged out nat king cole's classic into a mushslide.

Amy
anything off the Burning London tribute to The Clash

wade banger
kid rock-american bad ass remake of sad but true by metallica is 10 out 10 easy-can any one tell me where to get old kid rock mp3's please help me wallbanger25@hotmail.com reward offerd

wade banger
your comments are true-bands like korn -limp ruin it for true metal heads this music trows people away from real heavy stuff-and makes metallica write to commercial because they want record sales not good tunes so what think of that limp heads with korns on their face

Brian
I would probably throw Orgy's cover of New Order's "Blue Monday" because the orignal is just a way overlooked masterpeice of the 80s that was just remade by NIN ripoffs. Oh, By the way, Don McLean reeks high hell (he's such a Dylan impersonator).

SAUL
I Have just heard Take That's versian of Teen Spirit. Definitely the worst remake ever by far.

Joey
Best covers- Jimi Hendrix/ All Along the Watchtower, Van Halen/ You Really Got Me, Nirvana/ The Man Who Sold the World...Where Did You Sleep Last Night?, Foo Fighters/ Baker Street, Whiskey in the Jar/ Metallica

Good covers: GnR's Knockin' on Heavens Door, Anything off of Nirvana's Unplugged album and a whole bunch more that I can't remember.

BUKSTER
Worst Cover: AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" by Marilyn Manson. Some good covers: Queens' "Get Down, Make Love" by Nine Inch Nails; Gordon Lightfoots' "Sundown" by Elwood; and Tears For Fears' "Shout" done by Disturbed.

RAnden
you think fasith sux?

RAnden
you think fasith sux?

Fipking aka Chino
Oh man, the worst remakes are anything Puffy gets his hands on, he just su(ks a$$. Some really good remakes would have to be Jimi Hendrixs version of Like a Rolling Stone, Deftones version of the Chaufuer, and I gotta go with Nirvanas version of the Man who Sold the World, later!

Joey
Go listen to Britney Spears's cover of the Stones' "Satisfaction"...its so bad, it should require an entire website to accurately represent its disgustingness. Putting it as the number one worst cover on this site wouldnt even do justice to its level of garbage.

JuStSaYoZzY
Best remakes= pantera's version of black sabbaths planet caravan (Far Beyond Driven), slayer's cover of that priest tune on south of heaven, biohazard's cover of the sab's after forever (though it can't touch the original) and all those old metallica garage covers.

PERRYFERREL666
The best cover ever is Janes Addictions cover of Ripple by the Greatful Dead...The worst cover ever is that american pie f(ucking bulls(hit

Slouse
Tori Amos is a KUNT!!! Listen to Melvins cover Smells like teen spirit on the BOOTLICKER!!!!!

Emperor
I nearly burst into tears when "puff daddy" remade Zepplin's "Kashmir", and Maddona shredded "American Pie", those two are easily the biggest crimes in the history of music.

Saul
Best remake GN'R Mama Kin or anything on Nirvana's Unplugged album. It is possible to like Nirvana and Guns N' Roses. Kurt best musician? not likely. Best songwriter maybe. Also Limb bizkits Faith Is great but I have to agree American Pie was butchered by Maddona

Grrrrrunge
Hey ya forget the worst remake ever, Sheryl Crow's cover of the GN'R hit Sweet Child O' Mine. Thats an utterly ridiculous song man. madonna come 2nd to me.

Slim Shady
Uhhh... OK. Madonna's remake is so sad. It makes Don McLain cry I'd bet. But Limp's remake of Faith was brilliant. It started ushering in the return of rock. So shut up about it. How about Bratney Spears' "I Cant get no Satisfaction" remake. That goes as the worst song, period.

Some Girl
Worst Remake has to be Puff Daddy's remake of Led Zeppilin's Kashmire...

smudgie
I can't agree with derek that people only cover songs cause they're desperate, what if they really love the song too? Of course, if they really loved it they would either leave it alone in the first place or just not mess it up so badly. Personally, I t

mlsstar619
good cover metallica "turn the page", bad cover tori amos "smells like teen spirit"

LoKi Omega
Well, i'm going to judge the remake by how good it was before. With Limp Bizkit, their song s.ucked but it was MUCH better than the original. You have to admit that. And Madonna's remake was just making a good classic song into MTV sheepshizt. I think the amount of revulsion to a remake is how well you liked the original version. Also many Pop artists try to get a wider audience by remaking some other genre's music, but i don't think it works too well. For now listen to some dance/techno/acid/house where everyone copies the beats and songs are 500 characters long!

LoKi Omega
Well, i

A Cab
Lenny Kravitz's ``American Woman'' made me want to vomit. There are some good covers out there, from Hendrix's remake of ``All Along the Watchtower'' (even Dylan was impressed) to NIN's redo of Joy Division's ``Dead Souls'' on the first ``The Crow'' soundtrack. But all of these current bands who release remakes as singles to draw attention to themselves should be shot. People like George Thorogood remake the blues as a tribute to the original artists, not to try and capitalize on someone else's work.

DianeDT
Here are some good covers: Respect, Aretha Franklin; Dancing In the Street, Bowie & Jagger; Whole Lotta Love, Tina Turner; Mustang Sally, Wilson Pickett; Mystery Train, Elvis; Rock and Roll, Heart . About the Madonna thing: It certainly wasn't her best effort. However, I have always thought that the lyrics to Ameican Pie represented the most self-conscious rock poetry in existence, and--frankly--I was glad to hear someone cut out a bunch of them. It's okay to give a song a new sound. Even Britney's 90's sound for Satisfaction is valid. Sorry. I can't believe that I said that, but I'm trying to be objective.

DianeDT
Here are some good covers: Respect, Aretha

you don't need to know
I agree madonna's remake Sµcked

THEICPBAND
BRITANY SPEARS IS POP SHE SHOULDN'T DONE IT BECAUSE SHE F*CK UP THE ORINGAL

AxL
I think you're totally right about L.B. that remake s*cked.

mike
leader of the pack by twisted sister & johnny be good by judas priest, pretty bad remakes huh

blunt
Hey BUFF, aren't u too old to be here, Gun N' Roses is the stupidest band to come from L.A. I hate Axl's whiney voice, it sounds like his nuts r being squeezed by a nutcracker

Wassie
Firstly, Madonna should be ashamed of herself , antiGUY, youre absolutley right, you cant change a song like that so much into something compleatley different, everytime i hear it i wanna be sick, also i think All Saints idd a cover of "under the bridge" by RHCP, im not sure though but if im right someone beat them with a lead pipe cause you just dont touch the classics like that, its quite sad and it makes me MAD!

Me
THE FUTURE OF HORRIBLE COVERS 1. UNKSINNY BOP - R KELLEY 2. SOME FLOCK OF SEAGULLS SONG - PUFF DADDY 3.COME FEEL THE NOISE - MASTER P 4. ACHEY BREAKY HEART - WYCLEF JEAN 5.DO U REALLY WANNA HURT ME - BRITNEY SPEARS

Slim Jim
Fecal Matter Band, Fecal Matter Song

Thornado
I totally agree about the Vincent remake. It ate some major f*** d***! But I think there are some worse songs out there than Faith.

GOD
BY FAR the worst cover I have ever heard ever was "smells like teenspirit" by Tori Amos. OH MY GOD it s.u.c.k.e.d. so much I was almost in tears.

Beaners123
Ok - I agree, Sheryl Crow's remake of "Sweet Child O' Mine" made me plug my ears and weep into my oatmeal. I DO think Dave Matthews does a rocking cover of "All Along the Watchtower" (the one with John Popper and Trey Anastasio). But that's just my (not so humble) opinion.

Misanthropic
I might get blasted for this but I think that the worst cover is Marilyn Manson doing Sweet Dreams. Just for kicks some of my favorite cover songs are: Fudge Tunnel doing Sunshine of My Love, Living Colour doing Sunshine of My Love(hey, the original was great and these are two interesting takes on a classic), Type O Negative doing Summer Breeze, and I don't know if this last one counts as a cover because to the best of my knowledge they only played the song in concert, but if you watch the video S.O.D. Live at Budakon you'll see S.O.D. play Territorial Pissings by Nirvana. Even though Billy Milano had to read the lyrics off a sheet it was still cool..

sporker
just to add to the list of lame covers, brittany spears covered 'satisfaction' by the rolling stones. just dispicable

sporker
hehehe, faith. funny. faith was one of the biggest poseur songs of the decade. limp bizkit isnt a terrible band but that song just blew chunks. and madonna ruined american pie. whatttaya gonna do?

Plaid Princess
I don't agree with your NOFX opinion. I think they're worst cover song was their version of "Last Caress" by The Misfits. It was good and everything but you can't just make that song any better than the orginal. Though I must agree MXPX did some awesome cover songs like "Summer of '69" and "The KKK Took My Baby Away" by the Ramones (and I LOVE the Ramones!).

Buff
THE WORST COVER WAS SHERYL CROW'S REMAKE OF "SWEET CHILD OF MINE". SHE MESSED UP A GREAT SONG. ANY ONE WHO THINKS KURT IS A BETTER SINGER THAN AXL ROSES IS FU*KING CRAZY. KURT WAS SUCH A LOSESER HE HAD TO KILL HIM SELF. HE KNOW HE WOULD NVER BE AS GOOD A SONGWRITTER AS AXL ROSES.

josh carr
I think u r a stupid loser that likes guys because faith is a cool song by limp Bizkit F**ker

THE GREEN MUSE
THE TOP 2 WORST COVER ALBUMS OF ALL TIME ARE..... LONDONS BURNING OR WHATEVER ITS CALLED,YOU KNOW THE CLASH TRIBUTE ALBUM.COME ON THIRD EYE BLIND??? TO QUOTE MR STRUMMER"THEY THINK ITS FUNNY TURNING REBELLION INTO MONEY"NUMBER TWO WORST IS DEFINTLY TAKE WARNING A TRIBUTE TO OP IVY.I THOUGHT MY EARS WERE GONNA FALL OFF WHEN I HEAR THAT SWILL.I CAN ONLY STAND LIKE ONE SONG THEN I HAVE TO PUT IN THE REAL OP IVY.DAMN IF THAT WONT BRING JESSE OUT OF WHEREVER HE IS NOTHING WILL

SirAaronP
The BIzkit' cover of "Faith" was pretty lame.. Thanks for keeping your head straight.

Azure
Thank you for the answer. I had a feeling someone would know, so I checked back in. During the course of the evening, I remembered another good remake song that most everyone would agree with. The remake was done by the Soup Dragons, the tune being "I'm Free" (the 'Don't be afraid of your freedom' tune you hear on TV commercials) originally done by the Rolling Stones many, many moons ago. The remake's tempo is much faster. In this case, I'd say the remake was better than the original.

Azure
For the life of me, I can't recall the name of the band that did the cover of Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust", but it was pitiful. I've heard better during a last-call Karaoke night at the pub. I hate remakes and overdubs. They pi$$ me off and ruin what typically used to be a good song. Rarely are there exceptions, but one I found was done by Sublime, remaking the Grateful Dead's "Scarlet Begonias" on their 40oz to Freedom CD.

Judas Priest did a cover of "Diamonds and Rust". -aG

dimmaen
why haven't anyone mentioned Mariah Carey's cover of Pamela Anderson's boobs?

CacaBonita
I actually enjoyed NOFX's Vincent :o) I think you need to put up the 5 best covers ever....next time

If I can find 5 good covers I will think about it. -aG

Wow.
I am worried about everyone here. I mean, no one even mentioned Britney Spears' horrifying re-make of the Stones' classic "Satisfaction". I was on the verge of tears when I heard it.

AC
I Think Limp Bizkit's remake was great especially compared to Lenny Kravits remake of American Women or Sheryl Crows remake of Sweet Child Of Mine

Slunk
I don't think the NOFX version of Vincent is one of the 5 worst cover songs! Try Cheryl Crow's version of "Sweet Child of Mine", the origional was bad enough. Rednecks. P.S Korn, Bizkit, Kid Rock and all of the stupid clone bands $uck.

BadHabit
Limp SUX,so does Madonna--she reached THE taboo that I can legitimately b itch about with the american pie ITS JUST NOT RIGHT! I loved KoRn's Lodi Dodi --*Jon can do NO wrong*

ShivasIrons
Lenny Kravitz both súcked and blew with his "American Woman" cover. The Guess Who (a bunch of good Canadian boys) did it right the first time.

kev
i agree. one you should have added was fine young cannibles version of suspicious minds

Metal Melissa
I think Limp Bizcuit $ux my foot and they need to understand that Metal and rap don't mix. Kid Rock's a stupid idiot, especially his new song "American Bada$$". James & Lars helped put that song together but I still think it's a ripoff of "Sad but True". Screw MTV and all their sellouts.
