I completely agree with you on the entire list. When I first accidentily heard Madonna's remake of 'Pie' I didn't believe it and thought I was hallucinating in some bad dream life. Then I accidentily heard it again and realized just what a travesty it was!

otay may

Michael
The remakes I hate most are gay a$$ sheryl crow-"sweet child o mine",that was f.....terrible!and FAITH just blew the big a$$hole in the sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick Mazoku
I hate Phil Collin's "True Colors" song. The person who sang it first did a better job. As a matter of fact, I hate almost all covers of classic songs. The originals sound a lot better.

S.O.A.D
I agree with your list ewxcept for Faith i liked it not as much as Limps other stuff but it wasss pretty good, other cool covers are KoRn's Low rider,Earache in my eye,Coal Chambers Shock the Monkey,P.O.D's U2 cover,Machine Head's Police cover,Nirvana's The man who sold the World,GnR Knockin on Heavens door!!! Metal Rulz,Dance s.u.c.k.s

Chook
the worst cover ever was the remake of the wall by pink floyd a song in alot of real rock fans top 20's it was covered a couple of years ago by a band i cant remembers name for a movie where the teachers were aliens or something with elijah wood if you agreed email me at chooky_is@hotmail.com

The Jester
Any re-make means that you are creatively lost. If you need to use some-ones elses material, then you need to retire. It's fine to play other peoples songs when you were playin' in small clubs or bars, because that is what the audience wants to hear. But if you are recording, then you should be able to express yourself through your own material. Good or bad, at least it would be original!

Marshmello
Lenny Kravits (hated it so much couldn't even spell his name right) American Woman! The Guess Who did it SOOOOO much better!

BIZKIT BOY
LIMP BIZKIT RULES!!!!!

Dr Fever
HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!

mort
Britney Spears is so SH!TE ! Who the he!! is she trying to kid with those fake T!TS of hers? Her new song $uck$ so much. Infact all her songs $uck.

otay may
hey d.c girl youngstown does rulez.

D.CGirl
whats the topic today

D.CGirl
youngstown rulez #1

otay may
hey who all is out there? i want know what the topic is today ? it all ways diff .

jillian
what is the topic today guys?

Murph
Mighty Mighty Bosstones' cover of "Enter Sandman" was horrible...and Orgy's "Blue Monday" was just so they could sell records...one cover I did like though was Machine Head's "Message in a Bottle"

Plasticmonkey
I agree with you about the bad covers. Faith wasn't really that bad, but then again it really wasn't that good. Anyway, the best cover ever is "All Along the Watchtower" by Hendrix, and "low Rider" by KoRn. Classic covers. Oh, and by the way, for those of you down there in the boy band group. I'm going to kill every pop superstar on this planet. That's right, I'm going to scoop the backstreet boys' eyes right out of their sockets. If you're really nice, I might mail you one.

Madeleine
You want a good cover of American Pie? Try Tori Amos. No butchering there, yo.

star
I think britney spears $uck$ and her's song oops I did it again sound the same as baby one more time and she can't sing and tell her we all know she has fake t!tt!es we'er not dum like her and her mother.

Bad Forklift
If Britney "Fake T!tties" Spears remakes Satisfaction, I will just F'n snap. I think Sublime and Nirvana did some kick A$$ covers, and Pearl Jam has a bunch of good ones too. Oh, and about boy "bands", they are straight up for losers. The only people that like them are faagz, morons, and teenage girls who are too stupid and fat to get any. If you think they are hot, get a damn poster, but don't buy their cd. Its like casting a vote for making music sukk sh!t.

jillian
i love boy bands !

DCGirl
YOUNGSTOWN RULEZ

D.CGirl
YOUNGSTOWN RULEZ BOYBANDS RULE exceptBSB

jillian
orgy ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nasty.

D.CGirl
You guys Su(k if you don't like boybands

jillian
back off b$tch.

Steve
I just want to say a few thing anyway. Orgy's cover of Blue Monday was better than the original, even though they shouldn't have released it as a single (but it got me to buy their CD so maybe they should have :-) ).

Steve
I wrote the best reply to this discussion, but this d-mn board threw it out because it had the word s-cked in it. And I dont want to write it all again because it was kind of long.

IDONTKNOW
I HAVE NO COMMENT ABOUT THE TOPIC AT HAND. I JUST WANTED TO SAY HOW MANY OF YOU LOSERS ARE IN A SUCH A HURRY TO GET YOUR COMMENTS DOWN THAT YOU DON'T EVEN SPELL THEM WRITE. YOU ILLITERATE FOOLS!

looloo
i totally agree with you

Aaron
Reel Big Fish does kick as.s covers. i.e Take on Me and New York New York,

snotface
anyone who tries to cover a beatles song, it always turns out terrible

snotface
anyone who tries to cover a beatles song, it always turns out terrible

The Hardcore Icon
The worst cover EVER was Muscadine doing Big Balls. Close was the cover of Enter Sandman sung by Motorhead. The guy sounds like he had nothing to drink for a week.

that grrl
the worst cover ever is sheryl crow's remake of "sweet child o mine". that just plain sukked. i agree w/ madonna's remake of "american pie". i agree w/ dk, "faith" isn't the best, but is fun. i just hope the rumor about britney re-making the stones "satisfaction" isn't true. who does that b!tch think she is, covering a rock song? btw, kurt does rule forever!!!!!!!!!! (but GN'R are good, too!)

DK
I don't think Faith is one of da best covers ever but it's fun.The other covers ya mention should stay in a bin and stay dat way.Madonna's cover of dat song IS da WORST ever.It mutilated da song! Other good covers are POD's cover of U2's Bullet The Blue Sky (they made is sound original and new) And one final word Limp Bizkit Rulz!!!...

Michael
The worst? Hoe bout the entire KISS my As* album? Those were the worst covers I ever heard. If I ever see those jerks from the Might Might Boss tones I will smack them for ruining a classic like KISS's Detroit Rock City.

antiG'NR
hey brownstone, G'NR SUXX! KURT RULEZ 4EVER, MOTHERF*CKER!

tupac
no they dont call me tupac. but whatever. and i thought faith was cool.... but i'm not that big of a limp bizkit fan. all i have to say is that madonna totally destroyed that poor song... i dont know what she was thinking. shes terrible now anyway/

ruce
ugly kid joe did a horribe remake of cats in the cradle, orgy f ucked up that blue monday song, the wallflowers butchered bowie's "heroes", and those punk/ska whatever you call it bulls hit bands have been covering many 80's songs and making them ten times worse. as for some notables: bowie's version of "growing up" by springsteen, red and meth's cover of "mic checka" by das efx, the mac's "landslide" covered by billy corgan, and the spin doctor's(suprisingly) did an excellent job covering hendrix's "spanish castle magic". oh yeah, i just heard a third eye blind cover of the clash's "train in vain" which suc ked a fat one. finally, limp di ckkiss can smoke a hog. stand on your own two feet durst.

ruce
some others to add:

00 Dan
Kid rock should be shot for performing CCR's Fortunate son. marlyn manson for highway to hell, madonna for American pie andlenny cravitz for American woman

00 Dan
i totally agree with everything said above. esp. about the american pie. but one cover i di d like was Offspring's 'Hey Joe'

the seeker
Crdeath must never have heard the originals...All the original NWOBHM are better, BOC and Thin Lizzy's originals were better, as were Queen's and the AntiNowhere league.

Crdeath27
Ugly Kid Joe did a really b*tching cover of Nativity In Black...If it is possible to improve on that song...they did it. And look at Garage Inc. from Metallica. there isn't one song on there that they didn't improve on.

sam
i disagree. i think the worst remake ever was sheryl crow's remake of "sweet child o' mine" by guns n roses

paco
the original faith was bad and this gave limp the fame it needed to spark their carreer

_FDM_ Luke
Faith was an awesome song. And if Limp hadn't done it, they never would have become as hugely popular as they have.

timmyjo
we got tonite by kenny rogers and sheana e is the worst cover ever

Diabolus
AntiGUY!! What about Marylin Manson's cover of AC/DC's "Highway To Hell"??? That has to be awful... thats one of my favorite songs and Manson made it awful!

Ell
I think that limpbizkit rulz over all! I think your right about the rest, especially American Pie! that was the worst! Disco s*cks, and so does madonna!

Doug
Amen brother. There should be some kinda committee to stop people like madonna from ruining the classics.... i hear Britney spears might be doing a version of the stones "satisfaction", this must be stopped.

Mr. Brownstone
This is to Sandy and Zer0, you f*ckin p*icks. Axl is comin' back with Chinese Deomcarcy and its gonna rock all this boy band sh*t, and just to tell you, he (AXL) wanted Kurt and Nirvana to tour with them, but the motherf*ckers turned them donw, calling them untalented! Look at Cobain and compare him to Slash...jee, lets think Slash wins by a long shot! Don't get me wrong Kurt was a wicked songwriter, but comparing Nirvana to Guns'? who the f*ck do you think are, f*ckhead!

Diane
Heh, I totally agree with you! First time in a long time I've read something and have totally agreed with it. Um...except I *did* like John Waite's "Missing You" and it just tore me up how Tina Turner twisted it around from a great denial song to a stupid "empowerment" song. Hearing that someone like NOFX covered Don Mclean is a no-no with me. I only sorta liked George Michael's "Faith" but I would still never approve of a cover by a group that seems to be lampooning it. Mariah Carey is way overrated and I can't believe the things she covers ("I Can't Live", "I'll Be There", "Open Arms"...all of them classic songs, all of them sullied by this wannabe diva). But the biggest insult I've ever heard is Madonna's cover of "American Pie". First off, Madonna's "act" is getting WAY too old. Second, you do NOT discofy a multilayered folk song and expect it to be any good. Third, Madonna showed signs of being well over her prime since unleashing "Take a Bow". "Rain" is the last good song she did, and she should simply hang it up. I mean, she can't even act. I would've thought hanging with Rosie O'Donnell would've helped her there, but apparently not. Oh yeah, and can I say that Lenny Kravitz has been irking me for awhile now?

Zer0
umm.. well you know, it's not my fault Axl Rose is a gay a$$hole who doesn't appreciate anything anyone does for him... and treats people like Kurdt Cobain (one of the most brilliant musicians in the history of mankind) like total $hit... so you can just bite me Mr. BrownHole

Gnr1Ecw2Crue3
Other rad covers---Anthrax-I'm 18(cooper); Lizzy Borden-Live and Let Die(beatles); Megadeth and Motley Crue-Anarchy in the UK(sex pistols); Abattoir-Ace of Spades(motorhead); Guns N' Roses-Wild Horses(rolling stones); Sacred Reich and Faith No More-War Pigs; Skid Row-Little Wing(hendrix); Slayer-Witching Hour(VENOM!!!!!) Good music can really be found anywhere.Someone needs to kick Sandy.

Sandy
I hope axl rose gets hit by a nighttrain in the november rain. he is dumb. B/W If you are taling about cool covers, listen to Pantera's remake of Hole in the sky, by sabbath. It is cool. Die Axl, Die.

Mr. Brownstone
hey Zer0 guns n roses did every song on the spaghetti incident better than the orignal artist and you know it you double talkin' jive motherf*cker

Zer0
personally, if you wanna hear some kick ass covers, check out Soundgarden... they covered $h!tloads of artists from Devo to Sabbath to Hendrix to even Spinal Tap for crissakes... and they did them all well... and while there are people talking about G n R, i'd like to make a quick comment... for covering SG's song "Big Dumb Sex" (but for many, many other reasons) Axl Rose needs to be drug out into the street and shot in the face repeatedly by a whole village of people... that ba$tard!!!... also... some more really good covers: any of the one's on Nirvana's Unplugged album, AIC's version of Bowie's "Suffragette City" (sp?), and Pearl Jam's cover of Hendrix's "Little Wing" which they titled "Maggot Brain"... i don't really think that doing a cover song is all that despicable... but what is... is doing it badly...later

CreamPuff
Madonna took one of the top three best songs of all time and disgraced the f**k out of it. She should be ashamed. Who thought making American Pie a freestyle dance song was a good idea?

LedZeppelinRulez
I agree, Madonna's remake of American Pie is horrid. Tis a sad day for music indeed. What's next? Ricky Martin remaking Stairway to Heaven? it makes me feel sick. Also, some good remakes- Metallica's Garage Inc. CD and Aerosmith's remake of the Beatles' Come Together. Those are just a few, but there are some good ones

THE SOUL ASSASIN
NO COMMENT

T-bone
What's wrong nookie? Does some telling the truth about limp bizkit hurt?

the nookie
I tingk u s$#k your an A$$H#$E you are a very corny person

the nookie
ewan ko putangina mo

the nnokie
pwede na

the antichrist
i can think of a bunch of really good covers, for instance most of the nativity in black cd, also coal chamber's cover of shock the monkey...ok, maybe i cant think of that many, but there are a few.

smithers
i think the song is great

J
MxPx does some bad ass covers... they do Social D's SickBoy and SUmmer of 69 by Bryan Adams and they make it good! Gotta disagree on you slamming NoFX's Vincent, I fukking love that song. Kid Rock does a cool FOrtunate Son live... Cover Songs are cool because it allows you to see who the bands you like are influenced by... I dig em. Peace...

gnrfanman
I liked motleys smokin in the boys room and poisons your mama don't dance

Mr. Brownstone
I agree Madonna did a horrible job on American Pie, but I really liked Pantera's cover of Cat Scratch Fever, Everclear's cover of The Boys Are Back In Town and Blink 182's cover of Billy Idols Dancin With Myself was also good. But I think, Guns N' Roses do the best covers, such as Live And Let Die and Knockin' On Heaven's Door. But I also agree with you, Faith did s**k, and so do Limp Bizkit!

Ken
I definately agree with the number one pick. Madonna did an absolutely horrible job. I think Lenny Kravitz's cover of American Woman by the 'Guess Who' should get an honorable mention.

hells disciple
your list is right on the mark. generally i don't like it when bands do cover songs but i did like panteras remake of the black sabbath tune planet caravan

charlie
I agree with your list. When I heard Madonna's cover of American Pie I wanted to cry. Also, Sheryl Crow's cover of Sweet Child of Mine almost made me vomit.

Anonymous
I liked Pantera's cover of cat scratch fever. I think Ted Nugent did it originally.

Finch
Well i am a bizkit head before faith and faith was ....okay. I'd much rather hear that than BSB i guess. oh yeah korn did a rippin cover of Ice Cube's wicked and sublime did that grateful dead song, that was good too

Bradley
Sublime did kick as.s cover songs. They covered grateful deads Scarlet Begonias and that cover ruled.

Metal Militia
All hail antiGUY! Madonna tried to completely ruin that song!

el feo
NOFX f***ing rules. they dont sell out like your gay glitter wearing media kings korn. Atleast somebody has still wants to make music to have fun. for all you people who think they like metal because they like lilith fair headliners korn should actually try listening to bands like puya or snot or even metallica. i dont even like metal that much but i know enough not to like korn. And as for the dumb dumb who said to that metal head that he was just jeaolus because they know how to play seven string guitars and he doesn't. The only reason they play on seven strings is cuz they are so un talented that they don't know how to tune a normal string down an octave. Thats what sepultura did when max cavalera was still with them. if you mtv sheep like whats cool, why dont you praise system of a down or something, atleast not just the drummer is talented.

BIG AL
PEARL JAM DO THE BEST COVERS - IF YOU HAVE HEARD THEM DO SONGS LIKE BABA O'RILEY, I AM A PATRIOT, SONIC REDUCER ETC YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. CRAZY MARY ALSO KICKS SOME ASS!

MR.G.
LIMPBIZKIT IS A JOKE ALLTOGETHER!!!THE WORST REMAKE OF ALL TIME IS SHERYL CROTCH " SWEET CHILD OF MINE " SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS TRYING TO PASS A BIG TURD!! OOOH OOH OHH OOH THIS BIG TURD OF MINNNNNEE!!!!

oz
i completely agree with you're choices...i just wanted to vent about how much i HATE that stupid lenny kravitz remake of "american woman"...it butchered that song, also I'm a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and was REALLY pissed when jimmy page let that ass puff daddy sample kashmir...what the f***?

dr fever
bands that focus TOO MUCH on covers are only trying to cover their short coming as a band....but...covers happen, he!!, i like to hear a GOOD cover every now and again (like Boy Sets Fire covering Motley Crue on their first album...Codeseven doing Don Henleys "Boys Of Summer"....Kittie doing "Run Like Hell"...or All For Nothing doing "Hangin Tough")...BUT, there are some songs that should never, EVER be covered...and here they are: 1. Beastie Boys-Fight For Your Right (to Party)....2. ANYTHING from Metallicas' "..And Justice For All" album. AND FINALLY, Limp Bizkit sukks..always has sukkked...always will sukkk. Period.

Quix303
I don't know who did it, but who-ever did the cover of New Order needs to be shot. The tried to make it industrial!?!? If you're going to do it.... do it right... otherwise it's not exactly a tribute to the original song/writer (unless of course the original writer likes the new version... for whatever reason) :)

Crdeath27
How could you leave out Cheryl Crows utterly disgracefull butchering of "Sweet Child Of Mine"? That was so horrible what she did to that song. And in the future you can add Kid Rocks cover of "Sad But True", because you know he's gonna mess it up.

Simon
Gee Kristin you need to look up the word hypocrite in the dictionary. I agree with all of these but the NOFX. I heard the original after I heard them do it and you know what? The NOFX version is better. You should replace NOFX with Cake. Those f@gs have no business covering Gloria Gaynard

Kristin
Well I am not really a Limp Bizkit fan by all means but I do really like "Faith". I don't care how bad some songs are I don't think that you should bash them cause there are people out there that do actually like them. Just cause you don't you don't have to voice your opinion to everyone. That is just gay. But for the record I do agree with you on the "American Pie" remake by Madonna. That just blew up the @$$!

Kristin

sublime
I don't think artist do covers cuz they are desperate, a lot of the time people respect another bands song so much, they want to play it themselves. what do you think tribute albums are??

Robert Hughes
Has anyone heard CARS by fear factory. That is the most f****d song ever.

Kyle Murphy (lead vocals in Audacity)
I think cover songs are great... they can express and artist's interpretation on a song that touches them... makes them feel a certain way... makes them want to share that feeling with others in their own way.. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah yeah a lot of covers really do suk though... especially LB's "Faith"... but i'm still down with tha Bizkit~ Wes is tha man!

Derek
Artists should write there own music, they only do covers cause there desprete

Aaron
REEL BIG FISH DID A KICK AS.S COVER OR A-HA'S TAKE oN ME

Fred Durst
f.uck you! Limp Bizkit kicks AS.S!
