well, all the major labels have found the key to their success. sell crap to people who are too young to decide for themselves, or are too stupid. rock music isn't dead, mainstream rock is. the old mainstream rock acts aren't even mainstream anymore. listen to whoever you like, i don't care. i, on the other hand, will listen to whatever sounds good. luckily, what sounds good is usually bands that have been around for a while. how many bands in the past five years can you actually say are great. my favorite band/artist is NIN. all their albums are different from themselves (did that make sense?) well, not rant on what bands i like, but i love pantera, ministry, alice in chains, depeche mode, tool, and anything that's pops up. blah, i'm gonna go pass out.

I'm sorry to say it, but Rock died a long time ago with Elvis. There is no more True Rock. You may be thinking to yourselves "but what about my Guns N' Roses?" or something to that effect. That's not Rock and Roll. Chuck Berry was Rock and Roll, GnR is Glam-Commercial Metal. And despite what you may think, metal is not Rock and Roll. Metal is slow drums, hard guitars, and a bunch of yelling and screaming. Punk Rock isn't even Rock and Roll. The closest thing today to true Rock and Roll is found on the Country Music Channel (ugh). So you're fighting a lost cause when you want to save Rock and Roll.

Marshall
There's only one way to save rock, one word: Deftones

Knightmare
you can't spell "crap without rap" Amen master!!!

their master
Alright, rap sucks, agreed? So why the hell do we put up with it? It had its place on BET, then it invaded MTV, and thus paving the way for the sissy soft-core MTV we all hate today. Keep the rap IN ONE PLACE.....the trash.

their master
damn straight. try to get rid of MTV of your cable subscription if you can, I did and I haven't missed it at all.

Droog
TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN, BROTHER! These are the best five I've ever seen! YOU KICK ASS!!!!!!

MR. T
OFFSPRING ARE GENIUSES . THEY RELEASE THE MOST BUBBLEGUMISH SINGLES ON THEIR AL;BUM SO TO ATTRACT A NEW AUDIENCE . THEN YOU LISTEN TO THE ALBUM AND IT ROCKS

MR. T
OFFSPRING ARE NOT SELL OUTS .

dover
Kid rock ... all his music is about himself!!! and i really loathe those people who sing Story of a girl... they play it every eight minutes on the radio

brisy
I don't know that rock is really endangered. Even the mainstream and trendy stuff this site hates so much gets some real rock on there. Consider Stone Temple Pilots and the Foo Fighters. It isn't all Smash Mouth and NSync. Besides, there's a whole other world outside of teenage commercial targeting. Your site proves that there are plenty of people not affected by MTV. Who can forget word of mouth either. I think Rock is pretty safe. Now it's these fleeting fads that are tremendously unstable and therefore weak.

RIP THE WHEELS OFF THE MUTHERPHUCKIN BANDWAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dis_phuckedup_guy
this is so true-this is how i found some of the greatest punk bands ever! :)

The Almost Great One
Ok, to the idiot who said 'kill all the niggas so they won't make any more rap'... where do you think metal/rock would be without the blues, which happend to be created by 'niggas'? Your ignorance is what should be killed. Pick up a guitar and play a song from any classic rock band from the 60s (the bands that created metal). Guess what? You're playing a hybrid of the blues

Crumb Bumb
Metallica's not metal.... what are you talking about?

HeadCase
Too True. Burn MTV! Kill the TeenyBoppers! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

guy
sporker is right the one thing that was good about rock in the nineties was NIRVANA ! Also, lets get some more heavy metal back. Alternative music may be dead, for now, but lets fall into this rock/rap hybrid cr@p

sporker
easy. reincarnate kurt. nirvana and a band-aid can solve any problem.

Prince of Darkness
Go buy the Hard Rock like AC DC MEGADETH IRON MAIDEN OZZY OSBOURNE GUNS N ROSES the good stuff

ROACH
1ST, DONT LISTEN TO SELLOUT SONGS, WHY NOT PICK UP AN INSTRUMENT AND MAKE YOUR OWN MUSIC? I AM . BUY PANTERA ALBUMS CUZ NEXT TO METALLICA THEY ARE THE GREATEST BAND IN METAL, ONLY BETTER CUZ THEY HAVENT SOLD OUT AND CAN STILL GO PLATINUM. MTV IS STUPID. LETS CREATE AN ALL ROCK MUSIC CHANNEL ON BASIC CABLE. RAP HAS 1 AND SO DOES COUNTRY, WHERES ROCKS????????????

Philip the Black
May 30: New Iron Maiden CD. Buy it, see a show on the tour that follows. Buy a shirt. Compared to Maiden, everything else s_cks. So force your friends to listen, call your radio station. Show Kid Rock what REAL ROCK is.

METAl, that last comment made me sick!!! You have NO right to blame anything on a certain group and preach that racist bullsh**!! I thought the rock community was supposed to be more open and accepting of differences than your everyday whitemiddleclass american society, well i guess you proved that there can be bigots in any group. Sure we all have our opinions, but differences don't make other people wrong. No one's stopping you from listening to what you want to... there's no need to hate on people like that. Bigots are a**holes if you ask me..... or even if you don't. I love rock.... but everyone has the right to their own opinion. PS Tori Amos is God(dess)!!

I dig METAL
HAHA! I'll tell ya the first way I'd save rock:KILL ALL THE NIGGAS so they couldnt make any more of that RAP BS!!!HAHA--on top of that ,never listen to the top 40 countdown, guarantee it'll be teenie bopper bullsh*tor overplayed stuff, never turn on MTV,if you do you'll make a mistake,Everyone go torch the ghettos of every major city (haha,it refers to my 1st)-and all sign a petition saying theres not enough "true"rock music out there,oh and one more suggestion Hold your local DJ hostage at gunpoint, till he plays some rock !!!
