How to save rock? That's easy- destroy cR@p-"rock" bands like Limp Bisquick, Kid Crock and Corn.

disarm
i agree with the mp'3 downloading, it's the only way you can find a great music.unfortuatley

Anonymous..haha
The best way to save rock is to buy and constantly listen to the new Smashing Pumpkins album! Seriously, it is terrific.

Chip
Rock kicks a$$. I'm sick of cr@ppy three chord songs and people like Britney Spears who think they can make MUSIC but can't. It's all about the money and not the music now.

heh
DJ Trippy: there was an indi band that combined rock, electronica and other styles...even a small amount of rap. That band was My Scarlet Life, which is now unfortunately defunct.

sexy
i think antiGUY is always right in what he says! keep on rockin

timmyjo
only buy tori amos cds and only listen to tori amos

Doug
I would have to agree..... the only "groups" in mainstream music are glorified glee clubs like S club 7..... long live rock.

Jackie
I couldn't agree with you more, but you might be preaching to the quire. less talk more rock

Kermit
Amen. Save the Rock! Music is becoming all image, not talent! Long Live Rock!

SAC
I have to agree with Adam about the Beatles. Nobody gives them their deserved respect anymore. The did the first Music Video which makes all these groups today. The first Heavy Metal songs. How about a little respect for the true Kings!

Riot Girl
More power to you, I agree wholeheartedly. I listen to Iron Maiden, Fear Factory, Pantera, etc. and they aren't on eMpTyV. Rock on!

15Yr old Metal FUKKHEAD
Korn Rule. Dumbasses who can't appreciate them, go to hell~~!!!

justin
God, YOU sir are incredibly right! MTV is nothing but commercialist, big shots in fat chairs getting their pockets filled with money, by playing teeny boppin garbage that only little girls like... and they have total control. i remember when MTV was the best thing around, now it's just another channel that i avoid. the real music IS in the indies, and in the upcoming bands...the stuff you hear on the radio, is just fake people trying to make a quick buck by creating NO substance music, for all the brain dead followers they have...

Me
Just remember one thing...THOSE STUPID BOY BANDS WILL DIE!!!!!! In a few years no one will even remember them. That's the only "good" thing about those trendy bands. Once they're not popular, THEY'RE NOTHING......THEY WILL BE GONE!!!!!!!!!

Eagles
I agree with Trend Hater especially about the solo's thing. AC/DC 4 life.

madman
Anti guy is right. But why hate a band just because they are signed to a label? Epitaph is a label and it has some of the best music on it. Why does everyone hate offspring now? two stupid songs from "americana" and they are trendy popsters? Go listen to "smash" or "ixnay on the hombre"

Newdreamer
I don't think we need to save it, it's going to live on no matter what anyone does. Just look how many people there are out there that cannot stand Metal, then look at us. I really do think we're stronger than the strange people who listen to BSB and Brittney.

zoso
man, i could not agree more. MAY GOD SAVE ROCK N ROLL and get rid of KORN. Damn they're annoying

DJ Trippy
One other thing, why can't we get a SUCCESSFULL attempt at a band integrating rock, rap, and electronica? Rock needs to be preserved, but at the same time, someone needs to try to be different. I recommend Orange 9mm.

DJ Trippy
I think antiGUY is a pure genius. Fück MTV.

diabolus
Well f**k MTV and f**k radio! All we need is another James Hetfield and we'll have metal whipped into shape in no time!

vvulfe
Find it interesting that Durst became a record executive...and still claims to be a "musician"?

Stormrider
I might add that in america, trendiness seems to be the norm. however, overseas, METAL is very MUCH alive. Even thought it is too extreme for all you pansies, BLACK METAL is alive and thriving in europe and russia overseas, and it's only a matter of time before those bands make it over here. It very well might be another NWOBHM, except not from the brits like before....

Adam
it would also help if today's youth cared about something other than either bubble gum pop simplicity or non-specific middle-class white boy rage a la "Korn" and "Limp Bizkit." it would be nice to see teens enjoying something a bit more cutting edge like Moby or even Beck; even more traditional artists with some depth and a sense of real meaning rather than stereotyped adolescent pseudo-emotions, like an Elliot Smith, or Blur. and for god's sake, listen to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin, even the Clash or Pearl Jam, and tell me honestly that you think guys who can neither write, sing, nor play their instruments worth s*** can hold a menora to bands like these that kept rock alive.

Adam
we need another kurt cobain or even better, a john lennon, who can appeal to the masses, gain huge acclaim, then spit in the face of all the idiots who flocked to their bandwagon in support of the "next big thing," someone who can get together a group of charasmatic guys who can play with a vision and intensity, and who still consider music an art form, not a business.

Smasher/Devourer
bands like Korn are keeping rock alive, even though they might not be the best band in the world. if korn wasnt around, rock would be made up of reunion cds from 80s bands. and Trend Hater is being retarded, Korn only comes out with 2 videos per album, and they were huge before they had any successful or quality videos

Trend Hater
rock also needs a band that can play solos, unlike Limp Bizkit and Korn who pass off the fact that none of their guitarists can play a solo as "oh, well we have good videos." It needs to be more about the music, not the image or style.

Elizabeth
Right On AntiGuy!!!

Rich
I agree completely, especially about discovering new music online. Places like Mp3.com and many sites like it offer excellent opportunities for unknown artists. Since putting out independant CD's is getting cheaper and more common, it is much easier for bands to get their music out there than ever before. Another good way to support local bands is to go to local shops that might sell their CD's and give them a chance. But yeah, MTV and Top 40 radio are good to listen to if you're doing your 8th grade math homework, but when you want REAL and CREATIVE music, then chances are you'll have to look a little deeper beyond POP charts, but perhaps no further than your own hometown.

meggers
eMpTyV

meggers
i think you are 100% right. when great music was on mtv we watched. if we watch them now we are condoning what they play which is cra*. if the trend says picking your nose is in would you do it? no - being a follower s*cks.... i stay off that line big time. the 'underground' world on the web for music is phenomenal - resouces for everything are at our finger tips..... and i'd rather listen to KNAC on line than the cra* played here in long island ny.... if the buck stops here in our hands then isn't it us who have the control? well spend your bucks wisely and make a stand.

Bong
IIn reply to "MAN"s comment: what's wrong with Creed? They're technically on an Indie labe cuz Wind-Up isnt big..just local Tallahasse stuff..and btw, they have all the fundamentals of a great rock band and dont have to rap, cuss, or scream like psychos to get the point across. Scott Stapp is an excellent songwriter, Mark Tremonti is a great guitarist, Brain Marshall is a good bassist, and Scott Phillips is a good drummer..please, just because a band is mainstream, dont judge their music until you've listened to their WHOLE album, not just played out singles.

gnr1 ecw2 crue3
Metal Blade-Combat-Earache-Noise rule!!!!!

Mr. ROCK
I think the only way to save ROCK is to have Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys wear black leather jackets.

Newdreamer
Oh I know it. THis site rocks! They actually put new stuff on here - and the load of stuff already on here is cool! Yea MTV is clueless, no music anymore...the radio is a lot of the same...and where I live I only get country and religious...one rock station or two at best! They don't play anything good either. If some millionair dude reads this would you PLEASE put up a good heavy metal station around here? I can get all my friends to back that.

Duke
This is the greatest music site on the net. Down with MTV and rich companies with affluence.

HUGO S.
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT DUDE!...I THINK WE HAVE TO RECUE THE GOOD ROCK AND ROLL!. CONGRATULATION YOUR SITE RULES!

Judy
You're totally right dude!!!!! MTV ruins everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!
