as if you don't know
Top 5 rock video cliches: 5. expensive car/boat/helecopter/tricycle/ etc.'(any Poison or Bon Jovi video) 4. nearly naked girls shaking their 'dumps like a truck'(can you say, Hot For Teacher or Just A Gigolo?) 3. the 'suburbs' (too numerous to mention. punx do it too, right, Suicidal?) 2. a pause in the music in which the 'artist'demonstrates their 'unique'acting ability (November Rain, HA!) And the number one rock cliche is... absence of any sort of talent at all (no, grown men howling like someone kicked them in the nuts does NOT qualify as 'talent'. PS. Randy Rhoads, aren't you supposed to be dead? Something about you crashing your plane into a bus during a flying stunt? Oops.

6. Get a really high-profile friend, hang around him like a lost puppy for a couple months, and eventually "guest star" on his record. Then make a really stupid, expensive video involving a lot of flashy jewelry and nearly-naked chicks. Instant success.

"Oh, Whoa, Look at me go. Look at me row in my... ca-noe! Oh, no, a ho(le). No, ca-noe, please don't go. you son of a motherf*n ho. I'll get my posse to... get up and go! that'll show you... Yo!" See, its not that hard. I bet that could go platinum, easy.

SubXavier
This is so amazingly off-topic I won't even make a comment. By the way, it *is* Matchbox Twenty... I guess Rob Thomas didn't want to be associated with the "number bands" he hates.

AtomicPunk1977
If you play guitar like you say you do and you criticize Van Halen like you say you do, you gotta be one of the worst musicians in this country - let alone the world.

GREEN MUSE
I DONT SEE HOW PEOPLE CAN SAY VAN HALEN IS THE BEST,COME ON ALL DAVID LEE ROTH SINGS ABOUT IS WOMEN,AND HE HAS TO BE THE MOST OBNOXIUOS PERSON I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF VEIWING.AND EDDIE BEING THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER,THATS A LOAD OF CRAP.SURE HES GOT GREAT TECHNICHE BUT I CANT TOLERATE IT FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES.AND BEFORE THERE IS ANY SMART ASS REMARKS SUCH AS"GREEN MUSE HAD NEVER TOUCHED A GUITAR IN HIS LIFE"I PLAY MY LES PAUL EVERY DAY.AND AM STARTING A NEW BAND TO PUT OUT SOME GOOD MUSIC. 77 PUNK FOREVER!!!!!!

What is the predominant race in the rap genre - black. Who are complaining that the SAT is biased - black people. Who are the people that try to get scholarships into school through basketball and not academics - black people. Who complains about being called colored but then look at what the NAACP stands for - black people. So, does is really surprise you that rap's lyrics are ebonic trash?

Metal Wolf
No I did not even know there was a comic with a character called Metal Dude. I name myself Metal(my favorite music type) and Wolf(my favorite animal), making it Metal Wolf.

Where's my props to System of a Down??

Wigger with Pride (and colonosity)
That's the props I like to hear son. All theze old katz just don't understand kid. They is be stupit. I know I isn't buyin' any more of that shyt just to line the pockets of no record producez. They bytched when audio tapes were brought in, and they be bitchin' when da next thing is brought in son. Yo, I'm a Herbalistic Toolkit on spazzmatronic steroids son. Fukem all!

RidahNY
The downfall of napster doesn't really change things that much for me because i only used it to get stuff that i felt would have been a waste of $ to buy (i.e. Diana Ross or Kenny Loggins.) I continued to buy the stuff that i really wanted even when i used Napster so this doesn't change too much for me. I still can burn CD's and make mix CD's by combining the mp3's i already have with some of my CD tracks that i have saved to my hard drive. They're all WAV files (after mp3's are decoded and CD's already are) anyway so i can still go about my business like i used to. The point i am trying to make is that even if i went and deleted all of my mp3's off of my hard drive and just used my CD tracks from albums that i did in fact PAY FOR, the RIAA and Metallica would still claim that i am infringing on copyrights. How so? I am not selling these Mix CD's. These are songs that belong to ME, I PAID MY MONEY for them. So these WAV files that i have saved on my hard drive of CD tracks belong to me and if i want to burn a 15 song CD with Metallica, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard and Megadeth i feel as though i have the right to do so.

Aluminum Wolf
Yo Metal Wolf did you get your name from the character in the Bazooka comics named Metal Dude?

Canada-Dry
Let's get some props for Godsmack eh?

Metal Wolf
Why is it all of a sudden everyone is taking my name and screwing it up or making fun of it, or maybe it is that some people can't spell right. Anyway in my view Matchbox20 is in my view a normal rock band, not a hard rock or metal band.Goo Goo Dolls in my view is a alternative/rock band.Sugar Ray is a sort of rapish rock. And hey do not insult VH1, in my view they give respect too all sorts of music and not totally bias like MTV, even though the only shows I watch on the channel is Rock Show and Behind The Music.I have nothing against Kittie but I beleive Drain S.T.H is a better metal band when it comes too all women band members.

Eagles
Ridah you scare me. One second you say something I agree with completely, the next you're calling Goo Goo Dools, Sugar Ray, Matchbox 20 hard rock/metal. I hope that was I joke because I just couldn't stop laughing. Good enough to be on MTV and VH1? LOL I guess they are right up there with those other awesomely talented groups like N Sync, the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Madonna and all the other music completely lacking in creativity and talent that MTV shoves down our throats. Personally I think the Goo Goo Dolls are not a bad band but the other two are really boring and annoying to me. And none of those bands are hard rock in the least. As for Kittie, to me they and the bands like them are what makes metal right now as weak as it is. Kittie is simple guitar played loud with no soloing or creativity. Their name doesn't deserve to be mentioned in a genre that gave us such awesome, mind-blowing bands as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth, etc. etc.

Hanz Elington
No way dudes, *NSYNC is totally more Hardcore Rock than those fruits! They get the freakin' party started!!

Razor Welf
Yeah, you're right RidahNY, I think there was a number in there, this guy obviously is no connosiour of finer hard rock like Blink 182 and Dave Matthews, just listen to the song "Crash into Me". It gets all angry when he says "Crash" and he's got mad angry and fast songs son. Shyt kid. My dawg is rizzite. Don't crack on Sugah Ray or da dolls kid, dey be comin' back hard kizzore style son. peace.

RidahNY
Are you sure that Matchbox20 is Matchbox Twnenty? Cause last time i checked, i remember there being a number in there somewhere.

T-bone
Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty, Sugar Ray hardrock/metal? On what planet is that? Are you on crack? Ok the Goos used to have a heavy punk sound but now all you hear from them is pop crap. RidahNY, you destroyed any credibility you might have had with that post. That is besides the point, what they hell does any of that have to do with this Top 5 list? oh in case you haven't heard matchbox 20 is now matchbox twenty, guess they didn't want to be confused with blink 182 although they are basically the same band.

RidahNY
I think the most exciting bands in music right now have to be Sugar Ray, the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox20. They are all great hard rock/metal bands that write good songs that remain rich in artistic integrity along with being popular and good enough to be on MTV and VH1. If it weren't for these 3 bands along with Kitty, rock music would be bland and stagnant. It's a good thing we have bands that are putting out stellar music in the rock community in the year 2000.

ZombieMaster
Rap music isn't a musical genre, it's a plague on the music industry itself. I like music that is more original like Rammstein, despite the fact that you can't understand what they are saying unless you speak German they are a very interesting listen. Also bands like White Zombie which is now Rob Zombie and the very extreme but still entertaining Slipknot are both wonderfully original bands.

Stresso Monty
Tell everyone what the hells on yo mind, and try to relate to them.

Wellf or one thing one banner has britany Spears on it while all the rest of the site runs her down. See how should we know why they have that banner, maybe they are not too bame on what their sponcers put on their site, or maybe you should ask the webmaster of the site.
You are correct Wolf. Sadly, we have no say on what banners run here. All of our ad sales are done by UGO and not us. The irony is Launch is helping us bash Britney and the music they support by running ads that have no appeal to most of our users. Think of it as those POP Tarts giving a little back to the cause against them. aG
RidahNY
antiMUSIC is supposedly a rock website and anti-britney spears and ricky martin. If this is true, then why the F*Kc is there always an advertisement with Britney Spears on the site. Oh yeah, and don't go telling me some crap that rock fans still like looking at her cause that's no excuse. If i am going into a website to post comments about Metallica or AC/DC the first thing that i don't want to see popping up at the top of the home page is Britney Spears and this has happened at least 7 times. Now you f*gg0Tz read this and tell me what you think.
As for the Britney Ads look at my comments to Metal Wolfs post. Now, you contend that we are supposedly a Rock web site. That is not true, and we have never claimed to be exlusively a rock site. Yes, our focus is on rock etc, but we do cover all kinds of music here at antiMUSIC. It seems you have confused us with our sister site rocknworld.com that covers only rock artists. aG

Hammett is undeniably a pretty good guitar player but he gets too much credit. He constantly gets voted best lead guitarist in all sorts of guitar and metal magazines. I don't agree with that at all and even though I think 80's Metallica was alot better, Hammett's leads were very unoriginal back then(all he could do was play lightning fast dissonance) and got better in the 90's. It was the exact opposite with Hetfield, his playing got alot more boring and simplistic after the self-title album compared to the earlier stuff. Overall though I like Hetfield better as a guitarist then Hammett.

Metal Wolf
No doubt that Kirk Hammett is a good guitar player when he was in his prime(1980s). But nowadays he plays bad stuff.

RidahNY
How come no one ever mentions Kirk Hammett as a good leader player - especially in old Metallica? Ever since their self-titled debut in 1990 Kirk Hammett's guitar playing has been both creative and full of technique. Don't get me wrong, i know all their new music stinks but that old school stuff is still cool. Besides Hammett's lead playing being amazing so are Hetfield's riffs. The only Metallica albums i have heard and own are Metallica and Reload so there are still a few songs that i don't know but after i get all 5 albums i bet i'll have more ammunition to prove my point even more.

Calculator sorry for the miscommunication but I meant other mid to late 70's bands like AC/DC were influenced by the Stones. Not that AC/DC was influenced by any late 70's bands. Also I have to agree with people bringing up other great guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Jeff Beck, etc. I would consider all of these guys better then Clapton. Its ashame Axl ruined Slash's and the band's career. How about Joe Perry for a great guitarist, he never gets much credit (probably because 80's Aerosmith made us forget about the great 70's stuff they did).

Spazz2K
What about Slash from Guns n' Roses? You can't deny that he's got some talent. And yeah, Clapton's older stuff was way better than the crap you hear on the radio *cough WHUD cough* anyway, just because Jimi drowned in his own vomit doesn't degrade his guitar playing ability. He was crazyed playing a righty left handed, but what makes someone the best? The technical aspect of their playing or just that one person likes them better than someone else?

Fungul Nutz
Where's the props for my dawgs? Right unda neath me! VH is as good as they get, but lets not forget other guitar geniouses, like Steve Hackett, Steve Vai, you said Jeff Beck...that other guy, with the hair... ummm... you know... anyways, lets not get all bent out of shape, because even though Hendrix and Clapton wrote a good tune back in the day, doesn't mean they took all of the newer people to school kid. Besides it's kinda hard to idolize someone who died choaking on his own refuse, son. Besides, if you guys were around back then you would have probably called him a sellout! Did I mention I was a spazzmatronic toolbox? Sodas rule, and little umbrellas in drinks totally get the party started right!

RidahNY
Eagles you hit the nail on the head with the Clapton comment. There can't be a guitarist that is more overrated than Clapton is. This is a guy that had a good tone and wrote some classic music back in the 60's and totally erased any good that he ever did with the garbage that he did in the 80's and 90's. i can't believe someone had the audacity to spray "Clapton is God" on that wall in England. Hendrix had Clapton beat by a mile - so did Jeff Beck. The worst is when i see these arguments that have Hendrix listed as #1 and Clapton listed as #2 of best rock guitarists of all time. Uh hello, where's Eddie Van Halen at? Is he behind Clapton? Come on man.. this is the kind of crap that shows how ridiculous this world is.

Calculator
Hey Eagles, AC/DC wasn't influenced by late 70's bands. Because AC/DC first released the High Voltage album in '74 so they couldn't have been influenced by those bands. Angus Young said he was influenced by the blues legends like Muddy Waters.

Eagles
I have to agree Ridah, I always thought Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin were WAY overrated. Especially Led Zeppelin and no way that Zeppelin 4 was one of the best rock albums, it had mediocre written all over it. Personally I'll take a Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, or Bad Company album over Hendrix or Led Zeppelin any day. But AC/DC doesn't get NEARLY enough recognition in my opinion because they are far and away my favorite band. And the Rolling Stones don't get mentioned often as influences because their influence isn't as easily visible nowadays, but bands like AC/DC are very much heavily influenced by the Stones as well as many other late 70's bands. Music today compared to the Stone's really blows so you don't hear much of their influence in it. One more thing, I think Eric Clapton is BY FAR the most overrated guitarist of all-time. His only good work was with Cream but the music industry and media is hanging on his di ck BIG TIME. Give me Angus Young or Keith Richards anytime over Clapton.

Baboonicus
And our thrashing of rap hasn't riled you guys? Anyway, perhapes the reason you only see the same couple of groups/artists coming up again and again could be because they'r good. Perhapes because they'r classics. As for whining, this is a message board. People take stuff off their chests here. Naturally there's stuff that can be seen as whining, but no one's forcing you to come here. If you don't like it feel free to leave. As for closed minds somehow I don't think the worst are here. The world is full of stupid people, many of whom think rock is "evil," others who watch MTV, and still others who are sheep in 1 way or another. By associating with that which is disliked by the masses (metal in case this isn't obvious enough for some of you) you are not being just another sheep. You could be a sheep in this minority, but the chances are much slimer than the majority. And once again with listening to the same music all the time I don't own any albums by those groups. I'v heard many of them and respect them, but that dosen't mean I listen to them all the time. To be completely honest I listen to a lot of underground techno, but that's besides the point. I congratulate you, RidahNY for being the only rap fan I'v ever met who puts up a good argument, but you still have work to do.

Metal Wolf
For one thing this forum was about rap and stuff and all of a sudden we are talking about history of rock music and the influences. As for RidahNY, I only used those four as examples and now you think I only listen to those guys and that is it.No I listen too AC/DC alot, I listen to Black Sabbath once and a awhile. Scorpions, I listening them often and if you do not beleive me I can name some of their songs The Zoo, Big City Nights, Blackout, and of course their two most famous ones which I know most of you know. RidahNY is true that there are so many inspriations when it comes too bands.Look at Metallica, they had a long list of many bands they had inspirations. But in my last message I was only using those guys as examples and do not say I have a close mind too metal because I can tell you how many bands I listen too.I can name 70s bands that listen too usually once in awhile. It is just I listen too AC/DC alot because they are my favorite band. But I guess that is a problem with some people.

Mettle Dawg
Wow, that's some long winded forum action. You know, I think RidahNY is one of the smartest dudes out there. He comes in here, turns around, and gets everyone all riled up, exactly what he planned on doing. All anyone else is doing is whining. He has you right where he wants you. As for me? I'm just the lawnmower, you can tell me by the way I walk!

AtomicPunk1977
Oh yeah and for the record, Van Halen killed disco you should all respect them for that. RidahNY may be a stupid person that thinks he knows everything but he's got a point with VH.

RidahNY
No one on this site seems to listen to any type of variety of music. We get the same 3 or 4 bands mentioned in every post with band names used as examples. We get the same generic stupid comments like "hard rock and metal bands that influence everyone are Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and AC/DC." Yeah they do influence most bands but they're not the only bands that do. No one on here ever mentions Van Halen, Eric Johnson, UFO, The Scorpions, Def Leppard or even The Beatles or The Rolling Stones as far as influences go. I just don't understand how half of you people can sit there and listen to the same 10 CD's over and over and over again without ever buying anything new or trying out anything different. Let alone the fact that you probably never even heard of Eric Johnson or UFO and think that Def Leppard is some crap 80's hair metal band. Most of these posts are some of the most closed minded comments i've ever seen. You're all worried about the wrong things. You're so worried over whose fake and how NSYNC stinks that you don't even think enough to go buy something different to listen to instead of wasting your time whining about boy bands. I posted some crap last week about how i liked the BSB and how they dance good etc. - I was messing with you idiots to get a rise out of you. I can't believe you actually fell for that one. I think some fool was even dumb enough to come back with the typical Jimi Hendrix comment of how he's better than they are or how rock has more talent or something. Wow, this guy must be curing cancer in a labratory somewhere if he was smart enough to think of that. Jimi Hendrix a good guitar? I never really noticed when listening to his music. (rhetorical comment)

Metal Wolf
by my name, please name the metal and hard rock bands who have influences with rap(probably Limp Bizkit, RATM, Korn) I would like to know. Because I always thought that the main influences of most metal and hard rock bands were Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix or AC/DC.

by my name
rap kicks ass!! even tho 90% of it is ripped off from old songs, its well done!! most of the heavy ass metal and hard rock bands have influences from rap/hip-hop...so stop dissing it cuz it might repercute onto your fav band.....beeeotch!!! but this 5 ways thing is funny as hell!!!!!!

Eagles
First I have to agree some punk bands are good. Now onto RidahNY, how about I can't connect to a bunch of phonies who aren't even making the damn music on their own? Don't know how fake people getting rich off LIES and other people's hard work is something to respect or help bring us all together. If I am going to support any music it will be music that is not phony BS thats completely based around using others beats and melodies. So this takes rap out of the running right away. Not to mention how terrible these beats are anyways. People don't like rap because of the music, they like it because of the FAKE image. These con artists are playing you all for suckers and laughing all the way to the bank and I'm sorry but I am not going to be "connected with people" through something like that. Also Rage Against the Machine and mid-90's Metallica is not what I consider good rock anyways so I don't really care if they wanted to get together with a bunch of fake no talents getting by on fabricated gangsta fantasies that make the wussy preppie kids who buy them feel tough. Finally the half-way decent rock album that came out was in 95? Even if that were remotely true (we all know you're just going on mainstream anyways) then in my opinion NO halfway decent rap album has ever come out. Pointing out these new albums coming out is not showing anybody how good rap is but how fake and musically shallow it is instead.

Josh
What's wrong w/ GOOD punk rock?

Metal Wolf
(Continued)Now on too fads .See in the 70s disco was a fad which metal killed in the end too only come back in the 90s. Now that all this pop,hip hop, rap and punk is all over the place. Some time they will all get sick of it and go for metal again for it too be a fad. An dwe will see metal bands who look cute and theyw ill get allt he women and sell lots of records but when the fad is gone, women will dump those bands like yesturdays garbage, just like the boy bands of today. But here I go again preaching about boy bands. But you know what I do not care because this is a rock site which most of all people who come here every day hate pop, rap, disco, punk, and hip hop or maybe they like one or tow of those but mainly fans of rock.I do not care.

Metal Wolf
I see that RidahNY is thinking Pop and rap is better.See in the 80s girlish metal bands were the fad, 70s, disco was the fad. 90s rap,pop and hip hop is the fads.See Metal has been around since 1970 and maybe earlier. Rap ? I can care less. Public Enemy, well where are they are they know anywhere no they were famous one day and not no more, just like fads. See rap was second place in 80s.Now first place but you can only stay on top forever and what is on top is usually what everyone likes, just like a fad. Pop has always beena round because it was disco and the famous songs that are over played. In my view talent in the music world today is almost whiped out you can go on and on runing me down but in my view rap is crap, pop is slop. And as for you saying rock is dying, check the front of the site! Rock is coming back and pop will soon lose it's rank. You have to insult all the bands that have worked for 30 years and earlier saying that rock is dying and they will go with them, you are one pitiful person. Now let me guess you are going to say I know nothing about music right, yeah sure. At least I know where I am at in this musical dispute. In my view rap steal from rock, pop steal from rock. Rap songs take sound clips from everything to make a song. With switch tables.Rap is nothing but talking about a crime or death or sex just use more the 10 swear words in it, you call something that all of just cursing music?Rock music will live forever as long as there is fans for it.If if youa re in a rock band and now you are saying it is dying it is mor elike you are saying that your group won't last long.Pop will always be the ruler of the TV until once and awhile a catchy rock song will pop us from some one hit wonder then die away. But the bands that have powers rock fromt he underground by touring relentlessly around the world will always remain strong as long as they have their fans and sometimes they willg row, and sometimes they will decline but rock will never be stoped.Rap is just for people who listen a bunch of mixing and repeative sound and a guy saying potty mouth language just to get some fan base.Wow this guy is talking about sex, cool huh? Lets buy the album so I can hear him say kill the cops kill the government. Rap, music huh, more like some sort of comedy album over and over witht he same message over and over.Just like country but at least country is original musically. But guess I maybe wrong and ridahNY is going to say I know nothing of music and that he knows everything because he has a band.Wow! I can see you on MTV now.

Sounds just like the top 5 ways to become a rock star. 5. Learn to sing, and end every non rhyming line with a guitar solo or a drum fill. 4. Make an enemy out of a well known preacher. They will dis you in their sermon and give you instant notoriety. 3. Steal from the best. Find a killer classic blues song, steal the riff, and sing some stupid lyrics over it. As long as people like your Marshall amp, you've got a hit. 2. Gather a group of hangers on, call them an entourage, bodyguards, drug suppliers, or groupies. Then chill out at nightclubs and wait for one of them to pull out a badge on somebody for buying cocaine or offering money for a blowjob. Free press baby! 1. Get arrested for doing something really stupid. Like bringing hard drugs over the Canadian border, right, Keef?

PorcuMancer
RidahNY, that post is just about the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Who cares about talent? Being remembered thirty years after release is bad? That is the ultimate (and only) sign of greatness. Thirty years from now, we'll see if rap is still 'connecting one person to another'. But I gaurantee that people will still remember Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, etc. even sixty years after their day.

Big Baby Jesus
Antiguy, how can you say rap is a shortcut to talent. Yes there is a lot of talentless rappers but have you tried to freestyle. I think it takes alot of skill. I guess everybodies entitled to there opinion. yours is just bias because you think rap will take over your precious rock and roll.

RidahNY
Oh ok Eaglez, now all of a sudden you're the judge of what's good, what's hard or easy to produce, and all around embassador for classic rock. Someone forgot to tell me about these 3 things. There is a common error made by all of you playa haterz that post comments denouncing rap on this site. You seem to be forgetting that music is a form of expression and if it makes someone feel something and connects one person with another the goal is accomplished. Maybe someone like Nas does sample music that has a 3 note beat, can't play an instrument, isn't able to sing and raps his lyrics but at least he's connecting with people. Idiotz like Eaglez are so concerned with the talent level and what is playing on a synth, what's recorded where etc. You're worrying about all of the wrong things. The bottom line has nothing to do with how many chords comprise the music or what equipment it was produced on. Van Halen's "Ain't talkin' bout Love" is an Am and G5 chord so i guess since it's only 2 chords that stinks too right? I guess rap stinks so bad that Rage Against the Machine did a song with Snoop Doggy Dogg and redid NWA's F*** the Police too right? Metallica was even trying to jump on the bandwagon in the mid-90's trying to hook up with Dr. Dre to do some music. At least there is a steady flow of rap music coming out and rap fans can look to recent albums to stake a claim for the rap genre. The last half way decent rock album came out in like 1995 (and that's being generous.) Let's face it man, i like rock but it's a dying genre. You gotta stop looking at crap that was recorded 30 years as proof that rock is the foremost genre. Stop groaning and moaning about music and listen to what you want to and i'll listen to what i want to.

Eagles
All the sudden its considered a right to go around and criticize music? Who's going to stop him from doing it, you? Sorry preppie I doubt it. And who said Public Enemy is one of the most influential groups of the 80's, do todays rap fans even know who Public Enemy is (doubtful that most do). Also they are another example of just stealing other people's songs and calling it their own. I forget what their version of the song was called but they stole it off Buffalo Springfield. And once again who notes Tupac as one of the most talented people ever? Nobody I know. What is it the same preppie wannabe gangstas that buy that $hit because they think it makes them hard? People with real music taste can see rap and rappers for what they are, people talking fast with simple lyrics (that don't even rhyme half the time) to a VERY simplistic beat that any 3 year old could conjure up in their bedroom. On top of this the beat isn't even played on a drum but a drum synthesizer, because any actual talent involved in rap goes against the genres definition itself. The worst part is people who listen to rap and put down rock. The only good rap beats and melodies ever used were stolen off classic rock song, and usually they screw them up too.

RidahNY
Hey MetalWolf i am about tired of your worthless comments being that they are so absurd and closed minded. Rap is a fad huh? How is rap a fad when Public Enemy is one of the most influential music groups of the 80's? How is rap a fad when the Beastie Boys have been around for almost 20 years selling out shows? How is rap a fad when a band like Rage Against the Machine is one of the most prominent rock bands although they have a front man that raps? How is rap a fad when Tupac Shakur is noted to be one of the most talented people ever? Just because you like Kiss or Megadeth and don't like DMX doesn't give you the right to go and criticize an entire musical genre. Such immaturity in half of these comments. Get a clue please and stop using the music you listen to as an excuse for your stupid crap.

Rappin for a livin man it's the tip
Stealing and samplin and let it rip
Hey hey hey gonna make you pay
Hey hey hey never go away
Hey hey hey you be buying it to
Pay pay pay that's whats' you gotta do

It's don't matter it don't even have to ryhme
It's so easy, it should be considered a crime
There are enough dumbasses in the world to make me rich
Hang with my homies and slap my bitch

The record company is laughin all the way to the bank
Cuz they know the shit you buy is totally rank
It's doesn't take talent or any real skill
Just makeup silly phrases like dis and get ill

Rappin for a livin man it's the tip
Stealing and samplin and let it rip
Hey hey hey gonna make you pay
Hey hey hey never go away
Hey hey hey you be buying it to
Pay pay pay that's whats' you gotta do

So run along little children and heed my tale
Cuz the clueless loser story will never fail
When you buy into rap you are buyin a lie
Learn how speak, and stop getting high
ignorance of truth is what you all see
So run along buy your dr dre and ice t
Limp bizkit, britney the backstreet boys too
Bend over baby, cuz you've been screwed

Ooh ooh ohh gotta say goodbye
Ooh ooh ooh watch those whiteboys cry
Ohh ohh ooh my words are sad but true
You you you aren't nuthin but a fool!

Eagles
Ohhh and one more thing, D-Bomb, you're a jack@$$

Eagles
Your homies sell to prep school homos trying to be tough. Anyways the top selling albums of all-time are mostly rock, the top 5 are the Eagles Greatest Hits, Micheal Jackson Thriller, Pink Floyd The Wall, Led Zeppelin 4, and Fleetwood Mac Rumours. The only one in there that isn't rock is Micheal Jackson and he's pop. And the top metal and hard rock bands surpass the top rap stars by far. Bands like Metallica, AC/DC, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and ZZ Top all have albums out that have sold over ten million. MC Hammer is the only rapper ever to put a record out that sold over ten million. He's someone to be real proud of (and surprise, surprise, the hit song off that album was STOLEN off an early 80's song by Rick James). Anyways the popularity of rap is way overblown because its only popular among kids 12-16 trying to act tough and thinking they are hard. When they grow up and mature they usually go past that phase and move onto real music.

Babooncius
D Bomb.... such a stupid name. An an even more pathetic message. Tsk tsk, what is the world coming to?

paul
oh yeah and a turntable isn't a fukkin instrument. most good music came out on vinyl first anyway

paul
first of all eddie van halen is an awesome guitarist and no rapper shou;d ever compare themselves to him. second every one of the 20 metal fans in that club count for a million rap fans and a single metal fan has more free thought and integrety than every rapper in the world. did anyone see the tonight show with kid rock and Lar$ Ulrich and Kirk Ham It from(metal)lica came out and played sad but true while kid rock rapped to it. such an awesome song and they just desecrated it.

Metal Wolf
D Bomb is an example of a guyw ho goes witht he corwd, and fad follower I bet he is a prepish dressing guy who shows off all the time, acting like he is a gangster. D Bomb learn that rap is crap, and that metal has beena round for more longer. And metal bands never needed a so called "posse" or "gang" "hommies" or any othe rof those gangster wanabie slangs. Because in my view rap bands are nothing but posers taking music from other bands and acting like they are so tough.Sorry but KISS concerts sell more tickets than DMN or any of those other rap fellows. And many other bands are a whole lot better and original than these turn table, potty mouthed crap. So listen "hommie" in a few years where is your rap "boyz" going to be? Maybe in jail or dead or gone and not playing no more. Where will most of the rock bands be? Stil touring and making albums. Case and point rap is crap, hip hop and pop is slop.Rap is just a fad that will go away, but rock will always be forever.

djdarin japan
D bomb you are a case in point of someone who pretends that he cant speak english. Im from Japan and your letter looks a lot closer to japanese than it does to enlish. boku no chin chin o sute

D Bomb
You stupid crackers don't know nuthin rap is the shyt man go on little boyz listen to ur metal noiz my homies be sellin platinum and u losers b playing clubs to 20 ppl

Eagles
I know this top 5 was supposed to be funny butthe fact that rap is really just like this just got me pissed. Also I think the old version of American Woman is much better and I am pretty young (under 25). I also enjoy mostly 70's rock with some 60's and 90's (hardly any 80's though, except for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, they are so underrated).

maple leaf
Rap sucks. I'm tired of rap artists taking classic songs and doing remixes of it. I haven't heard many good remixes of any classis song. It is not only rap artist doing new crapy versions of great old songs. I am 16 and listen to classic rock from the 60's and 70's. most people my age don't realize many of the songs the listen to are actually old tunes. For example after the new version of American Woman most people my age did not know it came from one of the best bands to come out of Canada of all time, The Guess Who.

DonnyDBadBoy
yo you peepz got it all wrong. i am a white rap star coming up through the brooklyn scene right now and you people got the rap game all wrong. everyone likes to point the finger and sling mud at rappers but the truth is this.. people like me, eminem and redman are on the mic and vocals what eddie van halen is on the guitar. we transcend the instrument and deserve to get credit for our accomplishments just like any other musician does.

MasterOfPuppetz
I like ICP, Your right baboonicus they are not conventional rap, there lyrics are downright hilarious, (people who think eminem is funny should go buy an ICP album)and they do use instruments, in the song "Wicked Clowns" they even use some heavy metal guitars, its pretty sweet. but if you look at it rapping is just a style of singing(that requires less talent) and if accompanied by instruments it doesent bother me, I just hate the rap genre becuase theres almost no instruments and when there is its sampled from someone else

Baboonicus
Yep, I'd have to agree with djdarin on that one. Not only that but you have to pretend you don't know how to speak English.

djdarin japan
The best way to become a (c)rap artist is to pretend how hard your life is while you are driving around in your new car singing about the hood that you probably never lived in cause your parents were rich enough to buy you some studio time.

Baboonicus
Well, ICP isn't conventional rap. They do rap lyrics out, but they don't follow rap guidlines about lyrics (whinning about their own problems) and they actually use instruments rather than just some evil repetative beat. I guess they're rap, but it's hard to say. Other than them, yes, rap seriously sucks.

Metal Wolf
Well there is a rap band that went through the top five in thi list, Insane Clown Posse. But since I heard EMINEM's insult too ICP I was curious what would ICP think, I went to their web site, and I downloaded their comeback song, I heard it and I laughed through out the whole song.I still hate rap but I thought it was a funny song, I think of this war with Eminem against ICP as more of a comedy show. But I suggest for allt he pople who hate Eminem to go get the song, and listen too it, it is hilarious, and no I am not a fan of ICP.I do not have any of their albums either. All I am saying is that their comeback song is funny even though it shows #4, I know but I think it is funny.

Mr T
rap is CRAAAAAAAAAP

t-bone
how about dis well known and famous people then put a decent hook on it and then bam-your the real slim shady

bryna
who is more obnoxious, Eminem or Fred Durst? i have to admit, being sued by your mom is pretty incriminating

wiper
it would work

wiper
prity god

Shut
Or how about this: "Be white". It worked for Vanilla Ice and Eminem, and to a lesser (but better extent) the Beastie Boys. (the filters are gay by the way. its called the first amendment, and ugo will allow most anything.)

dreamah
get in with dre's crew, you know they've been monopolizing the radio.

ShroomDevil
This doesn't sound like a joke. It sounds like an actual guideline. Like Hobo Angel said... "that was too true to be funny".

Metal Militia
LMAO

Hobo angel
now that was too true to be funny

Soulight

T Bone

Dr Fever
hahahahahahahahaahaha hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! I laughed outloud aG..this is some funny shyt!!
Thanks bro, I know you like Rap and all so that does mean a lot. Sorry, I just had to say it =)
Metal Wolf

Yeah that is definitly how to be a rap artists. But if there was a 6th I would may put in as "be able to know ever curse in the dictionary".Boy you know what, I thinK I should make an album and every track is going to have me saying the f word straight, then the next another curse.Till I have finished all of 75 minutes of curses. And I will garuntee I will go multi platinum.Because in my view the world today has pretty bad taste in music.Meaning that most of the number one artists are pop bands and rap bands.I guess that proves that anyone can be famous, just a snobby attitude(women/men), big breasts(women), tight a$$(women), nice hips(women), skinny and thin body(men/women), and nice looks(men/women) and you would get it big in no time.
Good point. how about #6 the ability to cuss to the beat
