antiGUY gives his top 5 list of music stuff. Could be songs, people, a stupid trend... nothing is sacred to antiGUY

This Months Top 5

Top 5 cigarette lighter songs

Last year for Valentines Day I did a top 5 of anti-love songs, this year I thought I would take a more positive approach. No, antiGIRL is still off with her “now broke “ Internet entrepreneur (karma?). I was watching a video collection of classic rock bands recently, for every band there came a part of the show that I call the cigarette lighter song. You know the power ballad where the people in the audience would hold their lighters above their heads during the song. Usually, when I attended concerts and this part of the show came I took it as a golden opportunity to go buy another beer or wait in the long line for the rest room. But over the years a few rock bands have created cigarette lighter songs which were compelling enough to stick around for and even break out the lighter, hold it above my head ignited until it was too hot to touch, or in the case of the Scorpions at the Monsters of Rock show, almost blow my hand off!

So here are my picks of the top 5. Use the fan speak below to post your favorites.

Top 5 cigarette lighter songs

5. Scorpions – Still Lovin’ You.
4. Eagles – I Can’t Tell You Why.
3. Led Zeppelin – All my Love
2. Black Sabbath - Changes

And the number one cigarette lighter song is

Aerosmith – Dream On

Your turn, what do you think?

They call you

Posted by No Name:
Free Bird, Stairway, All My Love have to be there. Every Rose has its Thorn is great, but what about Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Anybody remember they held the candles during the Simpsons episode. And whoever said Last Kiss by Pearl Jam, it was originally done by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in the 1960's.

Posted by jag:
aG, How about top 5 COVERS?? That could get very, very interesting. A lot of bands out there are now putting old covers on their new CD's. I've got more ideas than that though.

Posted by jag:
Hey, aG! I've got a couple of good ideas for new top 5's. E-mail me. jagoff01@webtv.net. Shame on you, how COULD you forget "This Love"????

Posted by phatmammaca:
Aerosmith's "Dream On" is killer, smoked many a fatty to that tune!!

Posted by capt.america@lycos.com:
number one should be: "Cigarette Lighter Love Song" by Marvelous 3 (from the album ReadySexGo)

Posted by Zer0:
personally, i would think that the only use a lighter has at ANY concert during ANY song is when you use it to set the guy next to you on fire.. BURN BABY BURN!! - 0

Posted by Callum:
(5.) Always - Bon Jovi (4.) Alone Again - Dokken (3.) Hurt - Nine Inch Nails (2.) Don't Know what ya got (till it's gone) - Cinderella (1.) Love Bites - Def Leppard

Posted by D-day:
I would say any ballad by Warrant, "Changes" by Sabbath, "Beth" by Kiss, "Imagine" by John Lennon, and "Dream On" by Aerosmith.

Posted by aG:
Jag... I've heard M3 and the song you are talking about. That's a good choice since that's where I got the idea for this Top 5. Go to our sister site rocknworld and look under the sophomore section for an interview with Butch where he talks about that song and the rest on readysexgo. .... this love. damn how could I forget that one! looking like it's time for a new top 5 any request?

Posted by Match:
In no particular order...Civil War/November Rain/Knockin' on heaven's door - GNR, Blow up the outside world/Black hole sun - Soundgarden, Chloe Dancer/Stardog Champion - Mother Love Bone, The World I know - Collective soul, Give Peace a chance - The Beatles.

Posted by jag:
I'm glad someone put "This Love" by Pantera.

Posted by jag:
You forgot "Cigarette Lighter Love Song" by Marvelous 3. Actually, you probably never even heard of them. Sappy....

Posted by RidahNY:
Peepz missed "In the air Tonight" by Phil Collins or "Mama" by Genesis.

Posted by little_blue_bat:
Dream on is an amazing song!!! But someone has a goood point....Where is EVERY ROSE HAS IT'S THORN? That's like, the perfect lighter song... ???

The only good lighter song is all of my love, and dream on

Posted by tylerhot:
Dream On was perfect for #1, due to the fact, they are #1!!

Posted by Jello: 204.50.249.130
So how come nobody has mentioned I Remember You By the one and only Skid Row.

Posted by SubXavier: 140.186.49.177
Augh... Silent Lucidity... I hate that song. And Staind isn't bad, Ridah... lyrically, they're a little weak, but their songs are good. Limp Bizkit/Fred Durst, on the other hand... well, I'd just be reiterating everyone else on this whole board.

Posted by RidahNY: 205.188.199.173
"Life Goes On" - Tupac Shakur , "Silent Lucidity" - Queensryche , "The Rain Song" - Led Zeppelin , "Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd and "Without You" - Motley Crue.

Posted by Sin:
Forever-KISS Ballad of Jayne-L.A. Guns Home Sweet Home-Motley Crue House of Pain-Faster Pussycat Mine-Bulletboys The list can go on & on. All you have to do is think of the power ballad onslaught of the late 80's early 90's and you can come up with a ton of them. You can even go back farther with stuff like Sister Christian-Night Ranger Open Arms-Journey etc. Personally, I think there is way too many to limit the list to 5.

Posted by KimmyMac:
Raising a lighter to a song is gay as hell. PS--Just for the record, Slim, I know the girl the Allman Brothers song "Sweet Melissa" was wrote about. Went to high school with her. Gotta love Long Island.

Posted by PersonB:
This Love -- PanterA

Posted by Sin:
Forever-KISS Ballad of Jayne-L.A. Guns Mine-Bulletboys Home sweet Home-Motley Crue House of Pain-Faster Pussycat The list goes on & on. Just think of the whole power ballad onslaught of the late 80's/early 90's and you'll come up with a ton of them.

Posted by Whatever:
So tell me Shack Nasty K, how did Metallica get labelled as a boyband? What quality do they have that makes you go "oh those guys are talentless losers" cause i'd sure like to know.

Posted by Rhiannon:
'Mama I'm Coming Home'

Posted by Shack Nasty K.:
Your lighter songs are weak to the point of wondering if you've ever stuck your lighter in the air and waved it like you just don't care. Try: 5: Winds of Change - Scorpions (you almost had it) 4. We Are the Champions - Queen 3. Fade to Black - Metallica (when they weren't a boy band) 2. South of Heaven - SLAYER! Just kidding...I love Slayer though. AND NO.1: FREEBIRD! Tons of redneck rockers can't be wrong. Every time I hear it, I want to light stuff on fire.

Posted by Ozzman:
Black Label Soceity- Just Killin' Time Metallica- Fade to Black Ozzy- Mama, I'm Coming Home Black Sabbath- Planet Caravan and for the hell of a 5th song, System of a Down- Spiders. not the ultimate lighter song, but f*ck it. its my godd*mn post

Posted by ShroomDevil:
Pearl Jam - Release... Beatles - Hey Jude. Green Day - Time of your Life. Do a best moshing list. It would entertain me.

Posted by THEMONKEYMASTER:
OK IV SAID THIS IN COUNTLESS MESSAGE BOARDS BUT IT MUST BE SAID AGAIN WHEN SOMEONE MISSPELLS SOMETHING IN THEIR POST AND WRITES NONESENSICAL UNGRAMMATICAL SENTENCES ITS NOT CAUSE THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO @#$%ING SPELL OR TYPE ITS CAUSE ITS A MESSAGE BOARD AND OR THEY ARE TYPING FAST AND THEY DONT GIVE A SHYT ABOUT CORRECTING THEIR WORDS SO WHEN YOU'RE PISSED ABOUT SOMEONES POST CAN U PLEASE FIND ANOTHER DIS OTHER THAN "WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO SPELL" OR "TAKE SOME TYPING LESSONS" PEACE OUT

Posted by tamestK:

Posted by Whatever:
Patience-Guns N' Roses

Posted by Dr Fever:
