Michael Jackson is wayyyyy fried! he's been reduced to grabbing his crotch ( since he spilt up with McCauley Caulkin )and becoming whiter by the day. This guy is the Gen X Howard Hughes! Poor ozzy is so baked he shakes like a crack baby in a paint mixer. Steven Tyler has become a parody of himself. I gave up on Aerosmith after the " Crazy " " Amazing " " Crying ' fiasco. Didn't they think we would notice that they were all the same song?

Posted by Mercury:
For you guys to come on here and say that Ozzy should retire, you have to be smoking some bunk sh*t. As Steven Tyler said "get a grip". Speaking of which, IN saw them on their last tour and they kicked some major a.s.s.. I was not expecting much, believe me, and I wouldn't have gone had the tickets not been free, but I was very surprised at what a great show they put on. Also, WTF should Michael Jackson retire?! Just because he's made some very bad decisions on his plastic surgeries nose? WTF does *that* have to do with his musical accumen, you stupid f.u.c.k.ing morons?!! Damn! When stupid's that stupid.....doesn't it hurt?

Dude, u 4 real? I would love Metallica do a whole album with Ja Rule, it would rock hard. I hope they do 1 with Eminem too. I would really like to see Creed and Metallica do something together, those are two bands who define the word rock. I allready made my dad promise to take me to the next Metallica show. METALLICA RULZ

Metallica has been talking to Suge Knight, they want to collaborate with Ja Rule again.

Posted by Dreamy Rover:
METALLICA & U2 are two bands who shouldn't be on this list or even on this page! The day METALLICA turn to electronic loops & James Hetfield starts rapping, while Kirk Hammett scratches on turntables, only then you should start worrying about them retiring. I'm sick of their action figures stuff. It's just merchandise: like Tshirts, Posters & stuff, nothing nothing more at all! So get another brain somewhere coz your seems to be fried. OZZY??? He's the undisputed lord of heavy metal. Every metal band worth their salt respects the man. So do all metalheads. The man is what I've seen as the best. OZZY, METALLICA & U2!! Jeez, people are getting tasteless & more inclined to stupidity these days if they want such bands and artists to retire! Agreed with AEROSMITH, ROLLING STONES, KISS, MICHAEL JACKSON, CELINE DION, BSB & others. But you take METALLICA, OZZY, U2 out of the market now... and all that remains... what do you like? CREED? POD? SLIPKNOT? BRITNEY SPEARS? METALLICA will deliver once again & u'll all see

Man, I have seen some really stupid post in my time but Mr. Know-It-All takes the cake. I had to stop reading his novel after a few sentences because of the stupidity level. Face it when bands run out of fresh ideas or start becoming characters of themselves it is time for them to retire instead of destroying their legacy!

Posted by pick:
I love the Rolling Stones. When I finally see them play live I will almost be done with all of the bands I've wanted to see live.

Posted by Mr. Know-It-All:
Man, I've seen some really bad top 5 lists in my time but this one takes the cake. Metallica has more musical talent and energy in one finger than the entire r&b world since Aaliyah died, and "the black one with a snake on the cover" was not the first album amateurs. Aerosmith has lasted and will continue to last, they didn't do the Super Bowl for money, ratings, exposure or anything else, they did it cause it's the only thing they hadn't done, and so what if MTV wants to call them Icons, I believe that they have proved to be more than just rolling stone wannabe's especially when, although Just Push Play is Just Pussy, Aerosmith still plays rock 'n' roll, the stones quit doing that in the late 80's. OZZY is your god, everything you hear today that can be loosely termed metal would be non-existant if it weren't for OZZY and his Sabbath mates, So forget about Pantera, KoRn, Slayer, Godsmack, and all those other bands, although some are good, they'd be Backstreet wannabes if it weren't for OZZY, and at least he's got the heart to go up on stage when his body is failing him, I bet most a youze never played a guitar or sung in yer lives. Scott Weiland may be the next in line to keel over from heroin, but STP's music is now going places that all yall's METAL has never and will never see. Creed should retire for the soul fact that they claim to be Christian while that Vedder impersonator (not the whole band) Stapp pretends to be our saviour. Whoever said that Primus needs to retire is kidding themselves, although PRIMUS hasn't put out an album lately, the most talented bassist, alive that is, Les Claypool has been all over music, and there ani't one fuching punk band or metal band that could list accomplishments that even rival the first half of Primus career, not only did they kill all other music that was on the fringe, but they leeked into the mainstream as well, if it weren't for Green Day and Blink 182 nobody would know waht punk rock is so all the poseurs that think it's cool to hate Green Day can lick it, there is no substitute for their style, and the rest can copy for years but not be heard, at least when Green Day went mainstream they didn't also give up ideals, (Dead Kennedys anyone?) I challenge anyone to find a factual reason why the entire genre (if you can call it that) of gangsta rap shouldn't retire. I'm a hip-hop fan, The Roots, Dead Prez, Jurrasic 5, OutKast and the like, but the shist about killing, raping, playing, money, cars, and image ain't doing anybody good, maybe if half it was about real shist you could defend it, but when lil Shady and Dre and the rest of the haters get home, all they do is make up situations that involve violence and sex, and their treatment of women is neanderthalic, it's the 21st century guys, you may be ugly but you don't have to beat a gal over the head to get a date.

#5) Kiss.. their farewell tour started in 1997! Besides, they suck. #4) Metallica: no respect, no bassist, and no good songs since 1991, and the Napster suit didn't help them either. #3) Backstreet Boys: married, arrested, rehabilitated, the party's over. #2) Creed: they released 3 montonous albums of crap, and now that Stapp thinks he's Jim Morrison, and compares his band to the almight Zeppelin is definitely my pick form "retire while you're ahead before you become even more of a self-parody." and #1: Michael Jackson, the Pedophile, Translucent Hero of Oddities and Freaks!! It's not 1983 anymore... besides, if his nose got any smaller, you can flick it off.

Posted by 5 Against One:
Comparing Pearl Jam to Creed is like mixing apples and oranges. Creed relies on corporate buzz and marketing blitzes. Pearl Jam doesn't have to write for radio or appear in " Teen Beat " magazine. Eddie Vedder is a dynamite performer who can actually write good songs unlike Christian rock icon Scott Stapp.

KiFi62, you're complaining about your "opinions" being shot down and ridiculed -on one hand you have a point but on the other hand, you don't. If you wanna listen to LOAD 9 times a day then go ahead - if you like that music then great, that means you bought the record and got your money's worth. Nothing wrong with that. But for us people who hate Metallica we also have the right to voice our "opinions." I bought LOAD the day it was released in June of '96 and I'm still angry about getting screwed. I see absolutely nothing redeeming about that music and that's even if another band put that record out. Metallica had such high expectations back then and no one knew what to expect - one thing I know for sure, is that we expected a lot better. They've done nothing but ruin their reputation over the past 5-6 years. I believe that if you make your bed, you lie in it. Sure they've got a ton of platinum albums and $ but they've got virtually no respect left. 20 years in the biz and people scoff at them. They musta done something wrong.

Posted by RidahNY:
If you listen to Pearl Jam you're tone deaf and that's all there is to it. The only way Eddie Vedder could possibly be any more out of key than he already is would be to start rapping. I think DMX has more musical ability than Eddie Vedder does. BTW, if you paid $13 for those CD's you still got ripped off. That band is terrible. At time I think Creed is more listenable if that's believable.

Posted by pick:
Dreamy, what I am trying to push is the simple fact that Metallica has done a lot of things after other people have. Some people view 'Load' as different, whereas I look at that album and think of other bands who have changed sound late in the game. I look at the cover album and think that it came out three/four years after 'Nativity in Black.' I look at the whole Ja Rule aspect and think about how many bands have already done a compilation with rappers. If Metallica had done all of these things BEFORE others I may not be so critical. However, I see them as a band continually looking at other people's ideas and figuring out ways to incorporate them into their music.

Posted by KiFi62:
Man Im just sick of arguing because I just always come to the same conclusion - opinions, that's all! People have individual reasons for liking a song, even if they don't like the band. I love Load, I think the music is just great, particularly songs like Ronnie and Cure, and I just say shutup to those who are gonna flame me and give me tonnes of reasons why those songs are crap - I just like 'em, simple as that, and Im not gonna stop listenin to 'em.

Posted by Dreamy Rover:
Come on Pick. Let's take this one at a time. METALLICA reinvented their sound cause they felt like doing something different with their musical skills. They did LOAD & RELOAD. While RELOAD definitely is very average fare, LOAD was quite good. I don't need to defend that all over again. I have my reasons for liking it immensely. I see a maturity in the song structures no one else sees cause they all want another MASTER OF PUPPETS. As for the rap collaboration, METALLICA don't need to team up with any rapper just for money. Why James isn't part of it? Why, doesn't he want any more money or the green that'll come along with the JA RULE thing? First, about the JA RULE thing, it wasn't even METALLICA's idea. Someone approached Lars & Kirk & they were sitting empty coz James was in rehab. And on that song, METALLICA is gonna play it's own brand of music. Sure, someone is gonna ruin it too, add loops, electronic error sounds & all that & worse, u have a stupid JA RULE rapping. Do I scream,"Oh! Jimmy Page trashed KASHMIR & recycled it with P Diddy! I ain't gonna listen to LED ZEPPELIN again!"? Will it make sense? Oh yeah, METALLICA's cover album...a bunch of old, forgotten songs which METALLICA have been inspired by...so they went ahead & did it. I didn't even know those songs until METALLICA covered them...why didn't they do the big heavyweight champion metal songs, known to everyone? As for S&M, it was Michael Kamen's idea, he approached METALLICA for that concert. METALLICA had their own doubts but all they said,"Hey, let's just try something new." It was an experiment. And if you see the concert, it didn't even feel like a collaboration...James wanted his music to override the symphony. The concert was less of a collaboration and more of a war between metal & Classical music. Atleast I feel that way. METALLICA have just changed musically. Sure, they may be interested in making money...but they're not do hip hop now coz that's what popular these days or nu-metal or R&B because that brings the Grammies. 3 years ago or more, they were to perform at the MTV awards. Everyone expected them to play KING NOTHING. But what the hey! They did SO WHAT and another cover from GARAGE DAYS...on MTV! Doesn't seem they wanted to get too popular with that. Or too rich. They already are too good at making money...all they need to do is keep on making good records & satisfying fans like me...

Yeah I always find myself in these Corptallica debates. I never criticized Corptallica for the amount of records sold. If that was the case I would hate Justice, being as that is when they surfaced from the Underground, and I don't hate that album. Furthermore, I often speak out about these closed mind metalheads, I admit I was one at one time, but once I was in a chat room and realized how stupid I sounded. My problem is with a band that puts the art of the music aside for the all mighty dollar. IMO it is not even a matter of opinion that Metallica did this, for the chronological facts speak for themselves. What Metalica has done in the last 12 years in no way takes away from the what they did in the 80's, as treadkill said they were the "Alternative" of those days. There is a difference between going to number 1 and number 1 coming to you, look at Nirvana, Floyd, Tool and countless others. As for your comment at the end, I have no clue where you are going with that. Metallica embraced that genre, why would James ridicule it? The fact remains that the first wave of grunge bands were no doubt the high water mark of rock music in the 90's. The fact that the Mighty Mets bowed down before them and tried to emulate them, albeit pathetically, shows the impact. Yes, Kifi, it is Metallica's perogitive what they put on CD, but as someone who used to save up lunch money in middle school so I could have the entire metallica collection on CD, it is also my right to critize.

Posted by 5 Against One:
RidahNY, I don't know where you buy your cd's, but I've got several of the PJ live discs and didn't pay more than $13.99. PJ Rocks! they follow no formula, they don't need MTV, and they tried to stop Ticketmaster from screwing everyone. PJ has a very loyal fan base and no need for corporate intervention, a lot of bands wish they had what PJ has.

Posted by pick:
And if you think I'm joking about the greed, I know plenty of folks who are still fans of Metallica and even they admit Metallica has grown hungry for money.

Posted by pick:
Dreamy, you're starting to use the same arguments the last time all of us got into the sellout debate. Nag is right; if Metallica really was "adventurous" then they would have teamed with a rap group long before that sort of thing was popular. And Ja Rule? That just shows Metallica probably had their manager pick out a rapper to work with, because Ja Rule is much less talented than Busta Rhymes or Dr. Dre. And how come Metallica has released a cover album and an album with an orchestra? It's not very original. To them, it's all about the money. They have become like Elton John and Paul McCartney...gimme gimme, it's mine.

1) Aerowsmith - Stop putting out music and just tour, better yet retire! 2) Poison - They suck and always have sucked. yet they show up in cocert every year. 3) Van Halen - If Roth isn't comming back, then just quit while your ahead. 4) Primus - havn't put a good album out in a very long time. 5) Ozzy Osbourne - I once saw him on a tour called the "No More Tours Tour". That was supossed to be our last time to see Ozzy live. I've seen him twice since then, and twice before. I just feel sad for him when I watch him on "the Osbourne's". He's getting to old to go on night after night. Hang it Ozzy I saddly must say.

Posted by RidahNY:
1. Metallica - they suck and are indeed an EMBARASSMENT 2. U2 - got progressively worse since 1991 (Achtung Baby was brilliant BTW) 3. Ozzy - his "singing" is reduced to nothing but midrange whining these days on top of the fact that he can't move too well onstage 4. Pearl Jam - these guys release one forgettable album after another and then have the nerve to release 30 live albums at the same time and charge $25-$30 a piece 5. Van Halen - my favorite band of all time but I'm so sick of being tormented by these guys (it's been three years or silence and they treat their fans like crap) I'd rather VH just pack it in now then keep on playing the act.

Posted by Trendkill138:
Personally, I thought Metallica's old speed metal stuff was more alternative than Load and everything after that, for the fact that they were an alternative to the "hair" bands of the time. Not to mention the punk influence.

Posted by KiFi62:
I agree with dreamy rover, people will go out of thier way to crush Metallica for any possible reason - mtv, napster, change of sound - yet Ozzy does a show on mtv, thousands of artists have blocked their songs on the internet, Metallica are millionaires, so are Led Zepplin and other great bands gone before! and about the whole music style change! now people complaining about that is just stupid, musicians are people ya know, and people grow and develop as Metallica did, so excuse them for being human. Also, thier change was not a bad one, I loved Load and ReLoad wasn't too bad either. Load is an album with deeper lyrics, better structured songs and a bluesy edge. Anyway, I'm going to listen to Metallica regardless of what you anti's come up with and even if Met's next album is not good!Ill still liste to Load and And Justice! The most important thing for any person interested in music is to listen to whatever appeals to them, even if it's bubblegum pop! who cares! Closing everything off just cause that band sold out or this band dont play instruments just makes ya more narrowminded and a musical snob.

Posted by Sacrelicious:
How stupid of me to forget to mention Ted Nugent?

Posted by Sacrelicious:
1. U2 - They didn't even get popular until after they'd lost any thread of originality 2. Sir Paul McCartney - Should have quit after Wings (or sooner) 3. Rolling Stones - Mick and Keith could be played by Don Knotts and Boris Karloff 4. Sting - Music for white people who want to explore other cultures, but can only handle it when it's presented by other white people 5. Metallica - Because the world needs more fry cooks

Posted by Dreamy Rover:
Nag, your point has been understood. However, when I said that many metalheads started calling METALLICA sellouts since LOAD wasn't as MASTER OF PUPPETS or RIDE THE LIGHTNING, they are being quite narrow minded. I'm in a heavy metal band myself & my songs aren't always super chugging guitars & screaming vocals. Depends on the theme & my inclination and the requirement of the song itself. METALLICA changed their sound on LOAD because they wanted to try something different. Some people (like me) applauded the effort & others just didn't. They just wanted another FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS...you know the story behind LOAD? After the black album & a grand tour, METALLICA took a big break. After a very very successful album that brought the band among the top selling artists, Kirk went back to LEARN guitar. U payin attention? From 93 to 95, he attended guitar classes & workshops, learnt some new things & LOAD had that new sound...METALLICA makes songs that they like themselves first...it's never been a band about fans...always music...a music that changed just as they had hit their peak. Why didn't they stick to the heavy formula and variations they tried on the Black album? Why Kirk bothered to go back to guitar classes after a mega million selling album, which would have brought them all the ROLLS ROYCES they could possibly want? By what means is LOAD sounding alternative? THE OUTLAW TORN, BLEEDING ME, THE HOUSE JACK BUILT, KING NOTHING, THE THORN WITHIN are alternative to you? METALLICA isn't doing a song with JA RULE coz James Hetfield has not been part of it. And you don't have James with it, so the METALLICA tag don't fit, not without him. JIMMY PAGE did a song with PEE DIDDY, recycling KASHMIR riffs...but that doesn't mean LED ZEPPELIN starts to mean less to me now. You go pretty long way to justify your dislike for METALLICA... NSYNC with guitars? HA! Next you're saying they're gonna wear baggy pants & take to computer generated sounds & all... no way. James ain't rapping, Lars isn't taking into drum machines & Kirk isn't going to turn to scratching on turntables or play keyboards. So don't bore me. I don't care if they're fat, balding, middle aged & too rich ... as long as James is playing his guitar & screaming in the ears of Grunge/Alternative fans that they should shut up & get some sensibility somewhere...I'm with him.. I'm with METALLICA..

When people say Metallica didn't sell out, I have two words for them..." Action Figures "

Posted by Nag:
Well, yes I happen to be pretty stupid based on the fact that I hate Corptallica. Is it I who sees the facts, merely the facts Dreamy? Now Load was released in 1996 right? "a very brave album"--by Dreamy Rover Yeah Bob cRock & Lar$ put the balls on the line with this one. Metallica all of a sudden had an alternative image and a toned down sound, and boy did people eat it. Tell me something, why 1996? Why not 1991? Why wasn't Load released in 1991 dreamy? Simple, if that album came out in 1991 it wouldn't sell 100,000 units. Remember 96 dreamy, I do, I was in highschool and I remember what the masses would eat, of course the metalheads would buy it cause the words Corptallica were on the cover, but the alternative crowd was larger and it needed to be exploited if Lar$ was to buy his 32nd Rolls Royce. Enough traveling down memory lane, lets flash forward to 2002. Why is Jay-Z supposedly going to be doing a song with them? Why didn't they do a song with Naughty By Nature in 1991? Why didnt they do a song with 2pac in 1996? For fear of a record tanking? What about Artistic Evolution? Gee I wonder? Why don't we ask Regis Philman? The Final answer is Lar$ wants his 52nd Rolls Royce. Can it be more blunt Dreamy? Now go ahead call me some closed mind Metalhead who lives off 80's speed metal...Wrong. I love Slayer...and I love Nirvana, Sabbath, Eagles Zepplin, Acid Bath, PJ, Pantera, and sure throw some U2 in there for good measure. Load had a few good songs, but the majority of the album had the emotion of a telephone book. It was pathetic, but pathetic enough that it worked, hence why it sold 5 million albums. I also can't wait until Corptallica (A.K.A. N'sync wit' guitars) comes out with its next artistic venture. I think even the 15 year old LB fans will be smart enough to see through middle aged fat balding Lar$ and Jame$ decked in FUBU with Khakis hanging down to the crack of there ass. Oh and the difference between U2's and Metallicas 'artisic' growth is IMO U2's wasn't fueled solely on money. If it were they would be screaming there lungs on Atchung, and decked out in Flannels on Zooroopa. Face it Dreamy, for as long as Metallica are around they will be Hillary Rosen's and Bob Rock's bitch. Now that's Sad But True! That is my explantion on why Metallica should retire! Thank you for your time!

U2 should never retire. EVER. Their sound, perfect as it's always been, continues to change and change for the better. My favorite U2 album is the latest, 'All That You Can't Leave Behind.' I was privileged to see them play a sold out show in St. Louis last November; I was both awestruck and inspired. Some bands are untouchable. U2 is one of them.

Corptallica realesed Load in 1996. Need I say more?

Posted by Dreamy Rover:
ACHTUNG BABY by U2 is a great great album... it's a creditable thing that U2 did not stick to a formula & start churning out political songs & ballads... ZOOROPA was good too... so was POP... very different, crazy very crazy at times but the entire B side was superb... simple songs...nothing too grand yet enjoyable. As for METALLICA, LOAD is a great album...a very brave album with new sounds & some crazy but jaw dropping riffs. Toned down, yes, but a good change. I don't listen to one type of music, depends on my mood, I can like a hard, chugging IRON MAIDEN song one minute...and I can listen to a SCORPIONS ballad the other...METALLICA was one band that now was a band that could scorching metal as well as melodic semi-classical ballads... a lot of METALLICA fans were shocked...but if all they can listen to is MASTER OF PUPPETS & RUST IN PEACE & REIGN IN BLOOD all the time, I'd call those metalheads very narrow minded. Don't make metal seem like ONE type of music when it's not. I love BLUE OYSTER CULT just as much I love ICED EARTH just as I love U2 as I love IRON MAIDEN... and it's a great experience listening to different styles and music and bands. Get out of the rut. METALLICA doesn't belong on this list... nor does U2... Take those bands who do the same thing over and over and over again... they're the one who should retire, who stick to a formula & suck it dry... I am thinking KORN & SLIPKNOT & the whole stupid nu-metal brigade...

As much as I enjoy this man's music,I think it's time for Bob Dylan to hang it up. Don't get me wrong. I loved his recent stuff. But after seeing him at the Grammys it made me feel bad. I can't explain it really. If he continues to make music,I'd still buy it. However,I just think it's time for him to quit. As for the STP topic,I didn't really like their last two albums either, but I don't think they should retire. I just think they need to reevaluate their music and make albums like "Purple" again. That "Days Of The Week" song just sounded horrible to me.

I'd love to know why Metallica are an embaressment to metal and rock? Was Load & ReLoad really that embaressing? And what has the Napster case got to do with rock & metal? And Mtv? people complain cause they get a little bit of play? How about ozzy doin a whole series based on himself and not a word is said? U2? no, they shouln't retire, they're U2! They're better together than apart.

5)Celine Dion. Do I need an explanation? 4) N'Sync. See above. 3) Aerosmith. They've had great past hits, but lost it over the years. You know you're getting old when MTV does a tribute to you instead of the Rolling Stones. 2) The Rolling Stones. Two words: too old. Mick's single career has been bad and Keith Richards needs to realize he can't play anymore. And number 1 is... 1) Michael "Jackoff" Jackson. His new album flopped, his marriages flopped, and he actually said "she bangin" on one of his tracks. Ugh.

Although he still tours, I think Billy Joel has retired from making pop records. The only new stuff he writes anymore is Classical. D-Rover, I think I feel the same way about U2's "Achtung Baby" as you do about Metallica's black album. "Achtung Baby" came out my Freshman year of high school, and I was actually kinda glad they changed, because I don't think I could have listened to The Joshua Tree-era U2 in high school. I know a lot of people who say "I like older U2", but I don't think they've really given the new stuff a chance. Some records you've got to let soak in.

AEROSMITH should retire...so should the ROLLING STONES...MICHAEL JACKSON too...as well as MADONNA (sic!)... BILLY JOEL is one guy I'll be glad to see going into retirement... Oh, and CELINE DION too! She's nauseating... ditto MARIAH CAREY... LENNY KRAVITZ, YESSIR!! But U2? STP? METALLICA?? Hey...these bands have grown up, and have changed their sound...and for the recird, METALLICA doesn't suck...they've contributed a lot to Rock & Metal... and U2, while they haven't done JOSHUA TREE Part II with ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND...it was definitely nicer than JUST PUSH PLAY or the stuff Mick Jagger & Paul McCartney have been doing lately. All the bands I love have grown up and changed with time...IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, ICED EARTH, U2, QUEENSRYCHE, OZZY, BORKNAGAR, BLUE OYSTER CULT & countless others...have grown musically...I, unlike many music listeners, wouldn't like METALLICA to recycle the riffs of MASTER OF PUPPETS every time they put out new material...the Black album gave me a 'new' METALLICA cause every song didn't sound the same... from ENTER SANDMAN to THE UNFORGIVEN to WHEREVER I MAY ROAM to SAD BUT TRUE to NOTHING ELSE MATTERS to HOLIER THAN THOU...kinda a buffet of many sounds and songs...and when I bought it, I didn't know it was their most successful album...METALLICA was exploring new musical setups & it made me happy...LOAD made me happy too & I still have to understand the reason why many people say they went downhill...cause they shed their SPEED METAL skin? Puhleeze! METALLICA & MEGADETH both have undergone changes & yeah, they did some awesome stuff, which, for me, is much greater than ANYTHING Aerosmith or Rolling Stones ever did. Take MEGADETH...RUST IN PEACE is awesome, the most wicked guitar driven album I've heard but Dave Mustaine's vocals are terrible. Cut to CRYPTIC WRITINGS, you have great rock/metal riffs & far better singing by Dave... as for the new teen pop duds...NSYNC, BSB, BRITNEY, J LO and others..they're too young to 'retire'... I think we should fill their mouths with quick setting portland cement & be done with it.

I want to give my list toooo. 5- Backstreet boys 4- U2 3-Jimmy Eat World 2-Britney Spears 1-Jlo- she fcuking sucks

Why should any musicians retire? Unless they are physically unable to play or the public hates them, musicians should play to the very end, playing for fans and entertaining generations. So what if their tours are merely marketing schemes? Isn't EVERYTHING a marketing scheme?

Posted by SubXavier:
I think NSync is actually breaking up... rumors abound that one of em is going to go solo. Even if I had to listen to -his- crap, just the satisfaction of the breakup would be enough to quench me for a while.

Don't forget Rush! Heh heh huh huh.

Am I the only one who actually likes the new STP? Artists that need to call it quits? Crue, Michael Jackson, Metallica etc

Posted by 5 Against One:
I'm not making fun of Layne's death. Layne's demons were what made him great, just like Cobain, Morrison, and any of the other tortured souls. There is no denying the connection between creativity and the troubled mind. If all artists were clean where would we turn, John Tesh?

Posted by LithiumBliss:
You know, tool, that sh*te about Weiland and smack ain't funny at all, seeing what just happened to Layne. If you don't like STP's last album, fine. But at least Scott is still alive so he can possibly come back with a good record next time. Layne will never record again. Maybe you should think before you speak.

Posted by 5 Against One:
Hey LadyMuck, I've got nothing against STP, it's just that they should get into the studio the minute Weiland relapses, that's all.

Posted by BUTCH:
LadyMuck, do you really think STP has anything to offer anymore other than trite rewrites of all their older material? Why couldn't WEiland OD instead of Layne Staley? Anyway, I'll stop. I'm being mean.

Posted by Mr. huh? saying, "My Generation Sucks!":
Slipknot. With such "profound" statements as "People=Sh*t" and "I wanna slit your throat and f*ck the wound", they should hang it up. Not that they were ever really credible. If you read their lyrics and hear them in interviews. They're nothing but a bunch of prupubesant dorks who never grew up. Also, why you gotta slam Spin for P.O.D., Basement Jaxx, and Outkast. Sure, the others are crap, but those bands make some creative, meaningful music.

I can explain myself in four words...Shangri-La Dee Da. That album couldn't suck enough!

Posted by Rick:
Britney Spears, J-HO, Limp Bizkit, Nsync, Eminem. It's 14:55, you got 5 seconds.

Posted by greg:
Aerosmith should retire, their legacy is being destroyed by sharing the stage with talenless hacks and being called "mtv icons". ac/dc should stay, they have lots of energy.

Posted by LadyMuck:
Okay, I wasn't even going to post because I'm under the impression that this country has a thing called free speach, and these bands shouldn't have to retire unless they WANT to...but this guy below me says STP needs to retire....what the hell are you smoking? Please explain yourself before I start ranting, okay?

Posted by 5 Against One:
1.The Rolling Stones ( Their last decent album came out during the Carter administration ) 2. Michael Jackson ( get a suicide watch going for this freak. ) 3. Billy Joel ( He should be playing supermarket grand-openings with that tired act. ) 4. STP ( Either get Scott Weiland some smack or hang it up.) 5.AC/DC ( They've still got one iota of respect left, they had better save it.)

agree with everything except one, MetallicA. their last albums were slow, musician-wise, it was great. i think you shouldnt put them at #1 until you've heard their upcoming album. metallica is a great metal band with a really big talent.

Posted by Nag:
I agree with most of these. Metallica is definatly number one. Kiss number two. Cher and Maddona number 3, I just hate seeing a bunch of middle age woman thinking they are still cool. Four will go to Rob Zombie, his act has gotten old fast. At five I will put Poison. The reason for this, is I was parting with some teenyboppers, anything for free beer, and they were playing Poison. I just want to cut the head before 80's retro is all over the place.
