Rob Zombie’s Top 5 Favorite Horror Films
With Halloween just around the corner,
it’s time to head on over to the video story and get those scary movies
to get you into the mood. This month I’m very
pleased to turn the Top 5 list over to none other than Rob Zombie so he
can share his favorite Zombie movie picks with you. I’ve always been
a big fan of Rob’s music so it’s an honor to turn the Top 5 list over to
him for this special occasion.
Be sure to check out Rob’s film debut “House
of the Thousand Corpses” while you’re at the video store, a film that the
MPAA originally gave an X-rating to because it contained too much “sadistic
violence”! Now we’re talking. Also after Rob’s list I’m including some
cool multimedia links so you can check out some stuff from his brand new
CD/DVD set “Past Present and Future”, which is in stores NOW!

5) Zombie Lake - This one
is just really weird. Maybe not the best zombie movie, but for some reason
I like it anyway.
4) Dawn of the Dead - As
a sequel, it's outstanding and a great political commentary on how people
are zombified by their culture. Where else can you get a Zombie Mexican
Biker Pie Fight?
3. I Walked With a Zombie -
This
one is classic but a little unknown. They had a really different approach
to the storytelling in this one which I why I like it.
2. Night of the Living Dead
- This movie was simply groundbreaking for the black and white zombie
genre. George Romero had people freaking out with the whole idea of zombies
coming alive and eating people.
1. White Zombie - Nothing
like a little voodoo to make your woman love you more. Plus it's got Bela
Lugosi.

House of 1000 Corpses was, in my opinion, a great horror film yet it had some humor in it that helped out. I now own the sequel, The Devil's Rejects. Now THAT is a good movie. Rob, your movies ROCK!! I hope to see some in the future from Rob Zombie

well..House of 1000 Corpses is a great horror movie!!The latest releases from hollywood sucked big-time but Rob made a masterpiece. My favourite horror movies are all the Hellraiser movies from 1 to 8!!!

Evil Dead will always be the greatest horror movies ever released, and what they did with Evil Dead 2 was a masterpiece, George Romero is currently working on Land of the Dead, and i am anxous to see how it turns out.

CLOWNHOUSE is by far the best horror movie ive ever seen. SEE IT! It's directed by Victor Salva who did the crap Jeepers Creepers movies.
Night of the Demons 2 is pretty cool and House of 1000 corpses is sick!

1.Pet Semetary- I liked this film because it was scary violent and bone chilling! the book was better but the film was great!
2.House Of 1000 Corpses- Rob Zombie did a great job on this film! he is my fav musician and this movie rocks! i can't wait for the sequel!
3.Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1,2,3,4 NOT THE REMAKE!- i liked all these films except for the remake because they were good! they were violent they were gritty! and tcm2 was just flat out funny!

The Tesas Chainsaw Massacre is the my favorite horror. I was disgusted with the remake, what a piece of crap that was. House of 1000 Corpes was pretty solid too, but i wished they could have extended the underground scenes. Dr.Satan!!!

I actually own all of these films and found it rather amusing that Zombie Lake was on his list since it's supposed to be the worst zombie movie ever made. Sure the makeup wasn't good, but what a touching zombie-father moment, ha.

i remember seeing the klowns when i was fairly young,and really should see it now that im old enough to understand it.the thing is about the guys in antartica or some other polar region and there is odd creatures running about,i remember something about a 2 headed dog like thing.you again have given me morsels of thought.

Ah--- the classics indeed, Mr. Muse. Check out "Horror Hotel" with Christopher Lee, or "Carnival of Souls" ( NOT the modern movie in color ), "The Reptile" ( a Hammer classic ), "Killer Clowns From Outer Space", the original "The Thing", and "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".

reading all this made me think of this movie my dad had recorded off some movie channel. i don't know the name, but what i can remember the movie had like three(maybe more) short stories about classic childhood stories, but gruesome. i know there was Goldie Locks and the Three Bears. at the moment i can't think of the others. does anyone know what i'm talking about? that is, if i've made sense.

Evil Dead is always gonna be great. They really need to do 4. Has anyone seen Bubba Ho-tep yet? From what I've heard, its pretty cool (then again ANYTHING with Bruce Campbell is). Also, is anyone gonna go check out the re-release of Alien?

Stuff that got me a lil funked out was the Amityville Horror, The Ring, when the chic is comin outta the tube.

i also have to throw in that the soundtrack to the silent version of nosferatu was perfect in every scene and was as creepy as the monster (especially the girl on the deck scene)

peter jackson, director of the lord of the rings trilogy had got his start making zombie/gore flicks. for those who werent aware of this id suggest you check out bad taste and dead alive. bad taste was his first film to hit theaters and took a little over four years to make with actors working weekends and a budget of about 11,000 dollars ($4,000 was donated by the new zealand film institute due to lack of funds to complete the project). its not exactly scary or for that matter be considered horror, but a must see for any kind of horror fan. dead alive has been called the goriest horror movie of all time and was peter jacksons third movie or fourth movie to hit theaters. this to me was the greatest zombie movie of all time. its about a cursed monkey rat whose bite can turn people into flesh eating zombies. it sounds typical but will turn even the toughest of stomachs. if you have any desire to see zombies having sex than check this one out. if not than see it anyways, these movies to me are definate cult classics.

Someone help me, what was that one where the kids are on a school bus and it drives through a toxic cloud and it all goes to hell from there? I remember that one as a kid. GM, dude MOTEL HELL!! That movie rocked! "I lied, we use perservatives"... Damn I'm gonna have to see if they have that one on DVD.

I miss White Zombie - the band. La Sexorcisto and Astro Creep 2000 were such awsome albums. Please reform. Children of the Corn is up there for me. I got a kid that lives next door to me who looks just like Malichi. He gives my wife and I an evil look every time he sees us that makes me want to sleep with one eye open. My wife is seriously freaked out by this kid. I'm gonna flash a cross at this kid the next time I seem him to see if he hisses at me.

Vampire Ryan : I own Fright Night. Its decent--- certainly not one of the most memorable of Vampire flicks, but fun to watch every once in a while. You should really check out "Near Dark", if you already haven't--- great vampire movie. Outside of the "horror" aspect of vamp stuff, look into "The Hunger", with David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. I think it was made in '83. Very disjointed ( what else would you expect from Bowie? ), but very visual. The opening shot features Bauhaus performing "Bela Lugosi's Dead".

SLEEPAWAY CAMP ROCKS. Period. Oh wait, Chucky baby, Chucky. Children of the Corn 2 & 3 are pretty good but the rest suck. Don't forget your Michaels, Jasons, and Freddys people. By the way, Fright Night was a great flick. Underrated vampire stuff.

It is the real Rob Zombie. Those are the ones he listed when we asked him and those are his responses. And no they are not the exact same movie. Come on Lith Dawn is very different than Night.. Haven't see the others so I can't say on those.

Night of the Living Dead, Evil Dead, The Exorcist, the first Halloween, the Shining, the Tenant ( more disturbing than "horror" ), the Hills Have Eyes, Amytiville, the Omen, Near Dark, Salem's Lot, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Pumpkinhead, Bloodfeast, ANY old Boris K. or Vincent Price flick--- I don't know if I could pick a favorite. There are simply too many classic horror flicks.

Hands down Evil Dead is my fav. Real low budget but it was just freaky. Exorcist and Price of Darkness are cool too but I also have a special place for the first two Friday the 13th's and The Shining
