The Witching Hour began as a collection of songs written by session musician,
Kenny James. Known internationally as a drummer with George Clinton, The
Samples, and many others, his songwriting was put on hold. Lurking within this
“behind the scenes” drummer is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer
with an agenda known only to him.
Until now.
“There’s room devoid of light except for the smallest hint of it way back in the
corner, the one thing that would get anyone’s attention in total darkness. The
Witching Hour lives in the darkness and guides the willing in the direction of the
light. There are turns along the way so ya gotta watch your step.”
The Witching Hour became a reality as Kenny discovered something he feels all
people have; an alter-ego. His other personality is the colored contact
wearing/rock star wanna-be frontman simply named Kennedy, who is the only
person Kenny could imagine fronting the project. Again, Kenny is behind the
scenes. And although Kennedy shares in the philosophies of mutual respect for all
and not judging a book by its cover, he’s not a political/sociological spokesman.
He leaves that to Kenny who speaks freely on the subject.
“It seems simple and I’m sure we’ve all heard it before but we need to respect
each other regardless of skin color, religion, sexual preference, etc. Stop killing
and hurting each other just because one person’s different from you. The more we
continue to do these things, the wider the cracks between us become until we’re
all so separated that there’s no support and we completely fall apart, self destruct.
Call it what you will, judgment day, armageddon, the witching hour, it doesn’t
matter. The point is that we’re all so judgmental and separated now that time has
grown short for healing. But yeah, there is still time to mend the cracks. We just
can’t keep judging without knowing anything. The content of a book is so much
cooler than the cover, that’s why there are pages in there. Read ‘em first, then
pass judgment.”
