Oh my God. You guys get the trophey for stupidity. Where did the man, Scott, said anything about comparing Creed's music to that of Zeppelin's? He was making reference to the hardship found in dealing with the critics. That's it. Stop taking people out of context.

SCOTT STAPP IS A TROLL TOO!

Posted by san:
SCOTT SCAPP IS A TROLL!

Posted by Fin:
OH COME ON!! Stapp deserves to have his balls bitten off, for not just thinking that he has anything in common with Zeppelin, but to actually say it without thinking of how pissed die hard zep fans would be. Come on man! Listen to zep 1 2 or 3 and then the Creed albums if you don't hear a difference then you are retarded!

Posted by thomas:
mmk im sorry but creed sucks and they suck hard. scott sounds constipated when he sings, not only that but he never stands with his knees stright, he says it hurts....makes you wonder what hes been doin to make standing up right a painful experience

Posted by sara:
creed is one of the best bands of all time. it seems to me there are to many jealous people in the world!!!

Posted by joen00b:
For all you Creed lovers out there, I have one question... what is the name of their bass player?

Posted by nay:
Disagree! Led Zep kicks...creed licks

Posted by odinandthe hammer of the gods:
i meant to say over 100 million....still better than that creed shyte!

Posted by odinandthe hammer of the gods:
i meant to say over 100 million....still better than that creed shyte!

Posted by get with it:
The creed fad has already died down...that's what will happen when you write one song and one riff and change the order of notes and try to sell 3 records...it took the stupid buying public 3 records to figure this out. Led zep has been over for 22 years and whenever they come up in the news people crap their pants hoping the reunion rumours are true.got it?

Posted by jaryanforgottosay:
I forgot to say, have any Creed fans heard Stapp's voice in concert? It's horrible! His voice makes my head hurt it's so bad. Lucky for him technology has allowed editors to make his voice sound better on record. On the other hand, each of Led Zeppelin's members are considered masters of their roles in the band. Bonham is considered by almost everyone who knows classic rock as the greatest rock drummer ever to live, Plant with the most influential, psychodelic, screaming voice of all rock singers, Jones proves a bass player can add so much and more, and Page, well, what can I say, the day that anyone from Creed masters his stuff will be when pigs fly.

Posted by jaryan:
The words Creed and Led Zeppelin shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Led Zeppelin is so far above and beyond what Creed could ever dream of being. All you who are Creed lovers need to listen to some Zep and realize what talent and superior musical ability really is. Also, whoever wrote about Michael Jackson being the top seller needs to go to the pop music argument page, we're talking about real rock and roll and blues here (pertaining to Zep) not some pansy grab my crotch and let the keyboard play my music for me kind of stuff. Bow to Led Zeppelin.

Posted by Edgeof:
scott stapp makes me want to stick things in my eye. their albums are just TOO MUCH OF THE SAME THING. they have absolutely NO creativity or originality.

Posted by uppity:
I think they are reffering to sales by a rock band and the beatles hold the number 1 spot followed by led zeppelin.

Posted by Shaun:
I am not too sure, but I believe Michael Jackson is the top seller in records. Thriller was the best selling record of all time (not to mention the best music video), and if you add all his other records, I think it adds up to more sales than the Beatles record sales. Not sure, though.

Posted by Sari:
"I think they shoot coz they want it"

Posted by the hammer of the gods and odin:
hey creed for life you idiot this article is about zeppelin too...that would explain why we're here defending our band...i haven't gone far, and don't have any #1 singles but my band has sold over 200 million records worldwide. You know what that means....second only to the beatles.Calm the f*#k down!

Posted by Creed4Life:
it amuses me that all the haters take so much time and effort not only to read an article about creed but to post responses that are lengthy and ignorant. How far have you gone, how many number one singles have you released? thats what i thought.

Posted by candyangel8:
It's so amusing to strike a nerve. Face the fact that CREED fans will always out number the critics by the millions. We'll laugh with them all the way to the bank and to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame :)

Posted by pardon:
um...i'm sorry i thought i read that wrong...but when i opened up my eyes and read it again i realized that candyangel called creed a living legeng.HA HA HA HA HA HA look sweetheart, backstreet boys have positive messages in songs, are they too considered living legends? Plus you need more than 5 or 6 years to be called alegend.HA HA HA HA.

Posted by candyangel8:
CREED is already a living legend. Some people can't handle a positive message and chose to live in a pessimistic world.

Posted by Voodooboy:
Oh jeez could Creed suck anymore then they already do? Let me think....no, no they couldnt. They suck. Why do they sell so much? Ill tell ya why! Cuz they play theyre gay ass songs on all the radio stations even they cheesy ones that 40 year old moms listen to. All these people like theyre gay music old people and poor misguided young people. I dont like the way Creed has this religious vibe to them, this Christian vibe. But Zeppelin had this Occult vibe to them and man how cool was that? I mean come on whats cooler the Occult or Christianity? hahaha come on people. Anyhoo comparing Creed to Zeppelin is hilarious. Zeppelin was marvelous in every respect. Page was a masterful musician, Plant was a wonderful singer, Bonham a good drummer (but by no means as good as Mitch Mitchell but thats another story) and Jones was a great bassplayer. Zeppelins songs were original, witty, beautiful, magestic they fill you with this great magic feeling when you listen to them. Creed will never be as good as Zeppelin, never. I hope they never get good recognition.

Posted by the Truth:
Maybe Creed has confused themselves with Creedence Clearwater Revival. They really do have some original classics, and, oddly, their musical integrity compared to today's corporate post-rock fodder.

Posted by blue:
oh yeah and e)did we all forget the original classics that were all their own? Please lets not attack zep and take away the important contributions they made for popular music AND 1 MORE THING LITHIUM BLISS SHUT UP!!! what do you listen to?

Posted by blue:
yeah zep ripped off the blues by stealing a few lines here and there but one thing you buttcracks aren't mentioning is that a)they didn't sound anything like the originals b)jimmy page gave them a life with those mindblowing riffs c)jones and bonham created one mother of a sound to pull the whole thing together and d) robert plant (the greatest throatplayer)took plain boring black and white blues songs and gave them life and colour. Creed...are selling a lot of t shirts and are nominated for awards in the same category as n sync. Everything is completely different and therefore the two groups cannot be compared. I get what stapp is trying to say but he should have considered a different example

Posted by is creed the next led zeppelin?:
NO

Posted by joen00b:
Stapp can say all he wants, as long as he gets his 'Jesus Christ Pose' for the new video, he is personally happy. As for the band and the similarities to Led Zeppelin, I really don't see them having as big of an impact as Zeppelin. Sure, they will sell lots of records, and be very successful, but their target audience is women in their early 20's. I see each of their albums becoming more and more soft rock with some kind of morale message. Most of their new releases are relegated to Adult Contemporary radio stations and the Rock radio Stations have added My Own Prison back to the rotation. So, Zeppelin-like, not quite, rich old men, most assuredly.

Posted by milk is good:
rotting tin of cottage cheese-now that;s one i've nevr heard be4 creed aint that bad but but they have a loooooong way be4 they earn the right to mention their name in the same sentence as zep.thanx

Posted by creed smells like a rotting tin of cottage cheese:
HEY SCOTT, THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!

Posted by ha!:
no matter how popular creed becomes mr.stapp has some ego to compare himself to the unparallel talent of led zeppelin. And to the dude that says robert plant's voice sucks- suck mine too!

Posted by cj:
creed are not and will never be like zeppelin but it's ok cause stapp didn't say they are...read it again bozos!!!

Posted by moon:
get over it. scott stapp didn't say "yes world. worship us, for WE are the next Led Zeppelin." he simply made the comment that they were in a similar situation. they don't suck; but if you don't like em, more power to ya. and, about the antichrist, it is doubtful that creed is the antichrist; there is no "cool" antichrist, anywhere. the antichrist denies God. what is cool about that?

Posted by Desdinova:
Besides, Creed is regularly blown off the stage by a band with only 2 surviving members, The Who (also a major Zep influence.)

Posted by Desdinova:
Creed are the antichrist, not the cool antichrist of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath fame, but the real withering death of guitar-bass-drums rock. Led Zeppelin were not afraid to draw on influences such as Cream, Mayall, and Jeff Beck AT FIRST, but they were already growing By LZ III. Cruud's last album was more bombastic whine-rock; LZ III was half acoustic (the quoted reviewer was referring to one of 3 metallic songs on the LP, "Immigrant Song.") Creed may well last as long as Zep has, but not because they're as good as Zeppelin, but because today's whiny, overdramatic teeners think that they relate to Scott Stapp's crass emotionalism and borderline-Pentecostal Christlike posing onstage. In times of material comfort, excess sells. The only reason prog-rock went out in the 70s was because young Brits were facing realities that included the dole and rising unemployment. Until something major wakes them the f--k up or something different (ala Nirvana) comes along, Creed will prosper, only because they are dumbed down and corporate, just the way middle-American teeners like their "rock".

Posted by Olli:
Led Zepellin are the band I mean THE band of all time surely, so that doesn't mean that Creed aren't good if they don't measure up. Listen to any band on their merits. The music is more important than a bunch of windbags (oh... like me) I am in a new band called ZOTHIQUE and we draw our influences largely from the Likes of Led Zeppelin, not because we want to be derivative but because that is our fave kind. If we wanted to sell records and nothing else we would write R'n'B and get a bunch of beautiful kids to sing it for us. We, just like Creed want to do what we want to do and guess what we dont give a s*** if 99.9% of the world's population thinks we suck as long as the other half a million buy our first album.

Posted by rain:
first of all I don't really care about whatever Stapp said, he wasn't really comparing the sound of the bands so that s fine, what I do care about are all the diot fans who elaborated on that statement and ARE comparing the two's music. There is a HUGE difference, people were turned off from Zepplin(in my opinion) because they had integrity and were making something different, while critics hate creed because they are doing something totally UNorigianl. I DO play giutar and you huge dumbass who said the musicianship was just as good in Creed. People are fooling themselves if they want to pretend that Creed are talented, morphing yourself into a clone isn't talent. but hey, you can like them, everyone has their own right to an opinion. Just don't fool yourself so to make your love of cliche music. they lyrics sound and image are cliche and to me sickening. There is great music out there today, there are bands/artists with integrity and talent, they are just more difficult to find. Some people said there wasn't any music left today that was original, well yeah maybe not on MTV, SO STOP WATCHING IT! look somewhere else and you'd be surprised.

Posted by The Jester:
Just because Creed is despised by many critics and music fans, and rightfully so, it doesn't excuse a comparison to artists at the level of Led Zeppelin. I could care less about the apparent similarity in the way their early work was received; so what? Good music is about one thing: good music. Billions of pubescent girls buy records such as Britney Spears, N Sync, and all that other crap on MTV, including Creed. And rappers with egos ten times the size of their skills are millionaires. Screw TRL; I'll listen to Carson when real art sells. Record sales and talent have no real correlation, especially anymore. Creed makes multi-platinum albums; good for them. If I could sell out to MTV and the rest of our musically bankrupt generation, the lure of that success might be hard to resist. But if I did, I certainly wouldn't try to maintain that I was something I wasn't. Creed is nowhere near the level of Led Zeppelin and they probably (at best) never will be.

Posted by Scott:
What a coincidence that the critic who compared Creed to Led Zeppelin was from MTV.

Posted by The Voice Of Reason:
Creed? They were on MindlessTV the other day! I rest my case.

Posted by L:
How this idiot has the audacity to compare his band to Led Zeppelin is beyond me. In my opinion, Creed is worse than the worst alternative bands of the 90's that it so unsuccessfully tries to imitate. Led Zeppelin had an original sound. There will always be critics who will claim that a band is copying another band who influenced it. However, Creed's "sound" is not influenced by anyone. It is a horrible, whiny, pathetic attempt to capitalize on something original (Nirvana, Pearl Jam) that took place in the early 90's. This band is led by an egotistical, talentless mannequin who is more interested in appearing tortured than really exploring any true emotion. I do not foresee that this band will ever come up with anything original or inspirational.

Posted by Stapplets4Linzzz:
My my my! Let me start off by saying that I have been a serious Creed fan since I first started to get into music 3 years ago. I'm not a huge Zep follower the way I'm a follower of Creed, but I know they are legends and I'm pretty into their music. I've read and done research about them, as well. I was sooo gladd to read this article!I've been saying this comparisson for about a year now, before I even knew that Stapp had said it. Not once did Stapp or did I, say that Creed is better then Zep or that they will take over or that they will surpass Zeppelin in any way, shape or form. The comparisson, in both our cases, was meant about the situations taht both bands aare.were put in with the critics and "haters" as they are called. I fyou don't like Creed, that is just great. I'm happy for you. Don't listen to them. Change the station when they are played on the radio, or whatever you want to do. This is America and you have the right to do that becasue we have the freedom of expression and speech. But there is no denying, especially after this article, that Creed and Zeppelin are in the same boats. No one liked either of them till their 3rd and 4th album, and those who did like them before they were excepted are the diehard fans taht will stick beside them whether they are liked or not. And in this industry, that is what a band wants: to have their creativity andtalent influence just a few people. If they reach more then that, that is even better. It's always been about the music. And I must say this... whoever said that Creed was pop music, you must be one of those annoying people who never research anything before they say it... you know the kind, the ones no one really listens to. My point? If youcan say that, you must never have listened to anything that isn't played on the radio. Creed has so much diversity packed into each CD. Weathered is the most diverse though. If you think they are pop, listen to songs such as "Ode", "Illusion" "Unforgiven" "Bullets" "Freedom Fighter" "Signs" "what If" and "torn". That's some hard rock, my friend. No, it's not industrial noisy crap, it's REAL hard rock, the kind that can push the limits, yet still be musical! THE BEST KIND! Stapplets4Linzzz is my AOL screename, so if you wanna argue more, then let's do it. I love a good debate, which is why I love posting to these boards and why this is my favorite web site. Talk to you guys later!

Posted by itssomethingnew:
Creed is Creed. Zeppelin is Zeppelin. There is nothing I hate more than when people compare bands sounds to that of other bands. They may be similar but no two bands are ever excactly alike. To call creed the next Zeppelin makes no sense. Zeppelin already happened. They were a brilliant band, they made rock history and influenced many great rock acts but theres no telling whether creed will do the same. Time is the test.

Posted by Mr. huh? saying, "My Generation Sucks!":
You idiot, you are. Or else why would Creed try to cop your first album for their whole career.

Posted by Pearl Jam:
I wish we were as good a band as Creed.

Posted by spunkava 656:
stryder, what i was trying to say is that to play the way led did with ALL their music at the same time together, creates harmoney, and the sound is so good that it is sickening. Creed is good, but won't ever be better than led. you don't need to play the guitar to KNOW about music and sound. You gotta have a good ear, and that's all you need. weather you play the guitar or not doesn't matter whatsover. no offense, but it's true. a good ear is all it takes.

Posted by stryder:
Look guitarman2002, i know you're entitled to your opinion but you don't need to know how to play the guitar to conclude that page and tremonti are like night and day. All you need is a good pair of ears. When i think of page the words versatility, genius and in a class of his own come to mind. When i think of tremonti i think of repetition, lack of creativity. Tremonti has his moments but he is NOTHING like page. Sorry man but if you play the guitar you should be able to see that

Posted by spunkava656:
how can people compare these two groups and critisize these groups????they are in two different time periods, with different stles of music and writing. led zeppelin undoubtedly is the best over creed, but you have to remember that rock does change over time, within decades.not everyone is going to be like zep or creed, even in the next 10 years their will be more and more sh^t comming at us. creed is a good rock band. they are solid, and they don't write about bulls^hit.zep is the same. both are great, but i will say that noone will ever be able to play the way zep did with their guitars, and all the other instruments. it takes real talent to accomplish that. you gotta be real good.

Posted by jayne:
seeker, I said LED ZEPPELIN is the greatest not creed or muhammed ali. DUMBASS!!

Posted by the seeker:
JAYNE!!--creed is not the greatest. muhammad ali is the greatest. don't you watch boxing?

Posted by the REAL God:
creed is bad. very, very bad. blasphemous, gluttonous, and loathsome. there shall be no place in heaven for them if they don't change their ways. how's about looking up to heaven and praying for some talent?

Posted by fed up with posturing rock idiots:
oh creed, tsk tsk tsk. you and your fans shall soon join the ranks of britny fox, cinderella, nelson, ratt, faster pussycat, etc. don't remember these bands kids? that's because these mediocre "talents" were thankfully erased from our cultural landscape. creed shall meet the same fate.

Posted by guitarman2002:
How can any of you not see the obvious similarities. How can any of you call Mark Tremonti's playing elementary, apparently none of you all play guitar. Anyone who doesn't see the similarities between Mark and Jimmy page should be shot and never allowed to listen to rock music or pick up a guitar because they are truly idiots and will only disgrace the music if you don't agree with me mistaB784@netscape.net

Posted by grangad:
gotta agree with suki. yeah plant was whiny at times but his voice is a f**cking original and it still blows me away listening to it.

Posted by suki:
ROBERT PLANT DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD VOICE????? WERE ALL YOU ASS WIPES DROPPED ON YOUR HEAD AT BIRTH. I WAS JUST ON SOME WEBSITE RECENTLY AND PLANT WAS VOTED THE BEST ROCK VOCALIST OF ALL TIME. IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM PERSONALLY FINE...BUT DON'T SPEAK ON OTHER PEOPLES BEHALF

Posted by VAN ZEP:
Look. To Compare Creed to Led Zeppelin is to compare Limp Bizkit to Black Sabbath. Creed do not push themselves musically or try to break out of this boring grunge rock that has been festering on the music industry for the last 12 years. Led Zeppelin started off a new musical style-hard rock- throughout each album they brought fresh, new music to the world.Through Zeppelin's catalog you can hear folk rock, blues, acid jazz, reggae, latin, acoustic music and even the earliest sounds of heavy metal. How can any popular band today live with themselves knowing that as long as they stay to the same basic sound and spend a lot of money on film clips, plastic surgery and marketing, the cash will continue to roll in from underdeveloped and gullible 16 year old's whose no.1 priority is fitting in with 'the crowd' TAKE AWAY CORPARATE GREED(CREED) AND BRING BACK MUSIC!
