Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan Was Blown Away By Axl Rose

(hennemusic) Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan recalls meeting Axl Rose for the first time in a new video preview of his documentary, "It's So Easy And Other Lies: Live At The Moore."

"Axl let out one of his screams and it was like nothing I'd ever heard," says McKagan. "There were two voices coming out of him at once. I suppose there is a name for that in musicology, but all I knew in that instant was that this dude was different powerful and serious."

Directed by Christopher Duddy, the project sees McKagan telling his life story in a live performance setting at the famed Seattle venue in 2013. The Seattle appearance was part of a promotional tour by McKagan in support of his 2012 memoir, "It's So Easy (And Other Lies)", which debuted on the New York Times' Hardcover Nonfiction Best Sellers list at No. 17.

The documentary is being screened in 50 US cities now ahead of the its theatrical release in Los Angeles on June 3. McKagan and Rose will regroup with Slash to launch a partially-reunited Guns N' Roses summer stadium tour of North America at Ford Field in Detroit, MI on June 23. Watch the video here.

Gucci Mane Gets Early Prison Release, Celebrates With New Song

(Radio.com) Gucci Mane released new track called "First Day Out Tha Feds," on Friday (May 27) which was recorded mere hours after he was released early from prison last week (May 26).

Produced by Mike WILL Made It, the track begins with a swirling, moody melody that builds into a strong beat. That melody resurfaces throughout the track and provides the basis for the over minute-long outro.

Gucci's verses aren't long. He raps about his time in prison as well as what took place to the people he loved while he was locked away. He mentions his mother turning her back on him, losing three people he loves and someone shooting up his home. "But I bend, I don't break / I don't ask, I take," he raps towards the track's end. Listen to the song here.

Volbeat Take New Direction With 'Seal The Deal' Album

(Classic Rock) Volbeat have taken a new direction with their forthcoming studio album Seal The Deal And Let's Boogie, according to singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen.

After the band announced that their guitarist, former Anthrax axeman Rob Caggiano, would not be producing their next record, Poulsen says he didn't feel obliged to carry on in a similar vein to 2013's Outlaw Gentlemen And Shady Ladies.

He tells Music Radar: "I decided to stay at home for half a year and write. I took my time to get the details right and just followed what I had in my heart.

"I wasn't thinking too much about whether I needed a rockabilly song or a metal song or a country song - it was more about getting into the essence of Volbeat." Read more here.

Korn's Head and Munky Feel Really Connected On New Album

(TeamRock Radio) Korn's Brian 'Head' Welch says he and fellow guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer have connected like never before while recording the band's upcoming 12th album.

Welch returned to the fold ahead of 2013 album The Paradigm Shift, having left in 2005. And after spending three years on the road in support of the release, he says he and Shaffer are performing at the top of their games.

Welch tells 95.5 KLOS: "Me and Munky have connected in a way that we haven't, literally, in years and years. The last record was awesome, and I love it. But we connected at Carolina Rebellion in 2012, I played one song with them.

"Two weeks later, I was on the phone with Munky, and then a couple of weeks after that, I was in the studio with them. So it was, like, 'Hey, you wanna come write with us?'

"So we've had time to hang out and jam together for three years on the road. And so me and Munky really have connected as guitar twins, guitar duo, whatever you wanna call it. And so this is a really guitar-heavy record.

"And for the first time in our whole career, we recorded our guitars at the same time, facing each other and just jamming, riffing out." Read more here.

Phish's Trey Anastasio Open To More Grateful Dead Shows

(Classic Rock) Phish frontman Trey Anastasio says he's open to playing more gigs with the Grateful Dead. Anastasio guested on guitar with surviving Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir on a run of dates in 2015, under the banner of the Fare Thee Well tour.

The shows were said to be the last time Hart, Lesh, Weir and Kreutzmann would appear on stage together, but former basketball player and long-time Dead fan Ball Walton hinted in April that the group could perform again this summer.

Now Anastasio has added fuel to the fire. Asked whether he'd return if invited, he tells Rolling Stone: "I'm open all the time. I had such a good time playing with Bob and hanging out with Bob. I spent a week out at his beach house before the Fare Thee Well tour. The two of us just played.

"We sat on two little stools in his living room and just played and talked and it was fantastic. He's such a good guy, and really fun. And I got to go to Phil's and spend time with him and his family before the shows. Billy came to New York and played drums with me.

"So, I mean, I love those guys, and I'm always open. I'm grateful for the opportunity." Read more here.

Linkin Park Release New Studio Videos

(hennemusic) Linkin Park have released two new officials video from the recording studio as they continue work on their new album, the follow-up to 2014's "The Hunting Party."

The footage shows Mike Shinoda reviewing the process of layering sounds with others in the room as they appear to be preparing for a song mix. "We just started narrowing down to some of our favorite songs, and we're starting to put our first 'final' vocals on them," Shinoda shared recently. "As I listen through them, I feel like these songs are really personal and revealing. We have really poured our hearts into the words and melodies, and it's starting to show as we approach recording the 'keeper' vocals.

"With that said, we've got a lot of material to choose from, and decided to get votes from all six of the guys in the band, to see which songs are rising to the top. We clearly have an album in there." Watch the videos here.
