Leona Lewis Attacker- Susan Boyle Still On Top- Chris Brown Not Blackballed, Just Unwanted?- 'Oasis 2.0- Mariah Carey Remixed and more
The man who punched Leona Lewis at a book signing in London has pleaded guilty to the attack and been ordered to remain in hospital under Britain's Mental Health Act. more

Susan Boyle was surprised with an early Christmas gift on U.K. TV as she received a platinum record for her history-making album sales. The record-breaking disc has sold more than five million worldwide since its release in November more

So much for Chris Brown rant about being "blackballed" by retailers. It looks like that excuse won't work. It just looks like the public just aren't buying it! Billboard reports: A survey and store visits find that Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Trans World, Newbury Comics are all carrying the Brown record and sources say that his album received widespread distribution and promotion by his label, Jive Records, and his distributor, Sony Music Entertainment. Jive shipped over 400,000 units of "Graffiti," and also had it positioned in prime stores space at all key accounts, according to sources. In fact, sources suggest that Jive may have overshipped his record, as sales are slow. "Not only am I carrying it, I am over carrying it, because it isn't selling," says the head of purchasing at one large chain. "I wish I could return it." more

But there is more! MTV had this: Chris Brown's irate state of mind, as displayed over the weekend in a series of angry tweets, came to an end Monday afternoon (December 14) when the embattled R&B artist abruptly canceled his Twitter account and abandoned tens of thousands of followers. more.

And Hits Double Daily has 70% of their total in and at this point they show Chris Brown's new album has sold 60,723 copies in the U.S. this week. Expect that to bump up a little with the final numbers but he's neck in neck with Gucci Mane for 9th place.

Adam Lambert suffered a big dropped again this week. At this point he is sitting at No 34 with sales of 27,181 in his third week, but that number is beating R.Kelly's new one by a couple hundred copies. Who said controversy sells albums?

Meanwhile, Susan Boyle sits a top the chart for a third week, selling an additional 276,009 copies last week. Again that's with only 70% counted so all of these numbers will climb, you can see the latest numbers here

The X Factor was watched by more than 19 million people as Olly Murs and Joe McElderry fought for the title, according to the latest figures. An average of 15.5m people tuned in to watch the full two-hour final on Sunday night. more

Contradiction of the day! Actor Nick Cannon and Atlantic Records are launching a worldwide search for three girls to resurrect Josie and the Pussycats, a band based on the Archie Comics characters. more.

iTunes Picks Angel Taylor's Love Travels as 2009's Best Pop Album
It's been a great year for singer-songwriter Angel Taylor, whose critically acclaimed debut album, Love Travels, has just been named iTunes Best Pop Album of 2009.

Love Travels has been called "one of the top debuts of the year" by the Associated Press, and received three-out-of-four stars in People magazine, which announced Taylor as, "fresh and honeydew-sweet her glowing pop tunes will win over fans of both Corinne Bailey Rae and Colbie Caillat."

Essence magazine raves that Taylor is "heaven sent" and that her "graceful piano driven songs about finding, losing and yearning for love are sure to resonate with audiences of all ages." The music industry's bible, Billboard magazine, has also hailed the 21-year-old singing/songwriting sensation as one of their "15 Artists to Watch in 2009," and The New York Post agrees, ranking her amongst their "6 Who'll Sizzle" this year. - more on this story

Slacker Returns With New CD
Slacker returns with new CD, Start A New Life, which is hitting stores on February 23, 2010. Album created from the heart and in the spirit of classic downtempo and chillout albums from Boards Of Canada, The KLF, Amorphous Androgynous (aka Future Sound Of London), Dusted, Sabres Of Paradise and more.

In his previous life Shem McCauley (AKA Slacker) was considered one of the most prolific progressive house producers in the business. His tracks and remixes were played by the genre's most popular DJs and they landed on the finest mix compilations. However, with the business changing and tastes shifting Shem grew increasingly frustrated with the type of music "the business" was looking for. So he did the unthinkable he disappeared. This UK native moved to Bangkok, Thailand, cut off communication with the industry, started a new job and a new life. So, it's been two years in Thailand and Slacker is back with an album that could have only been created in total isolation from the industry. It's not progressive house, but this is progressive electronic down tempo music.

We hate to make comparisons but Start A New Life really does remind us of those classic UK downtempo albums from the 90's and early 2000's. It makes sense because Shem was a huge fan of this genre but never had the correct forum to release his own music of this type. The influences are apparent and when listening to Start A New Life you'll pick of pieces of The Sabres Of Paradise "Smokebelch II (Beatless Mix)", Cocteau Twins "Cherry-Coloured Funk", Moby "Go (Jam & Spoon Remix)", Coldcut "Autumn Leaves", Boards Of Canada Music Has The Right To Children, Future Sound Of London Accelerator, Dusted When We Were Young, and of course, The KLF Chill Out album. - more on this story

Most Popular Baby Names of the Decade Announced
We figured one or two readers might want to know this, so here you go: Name Your Tune (www.nameyourtune.com), the leading personalized children's music compilation and their customers have spoken: The names Aiden and Madeline for boys and girls were the most popular names chosen by parents in 2009, while Jacob and Emma were the most popular names of the decade.

"We've seen more spelling variations of both of this year's top names than we imagined possible - Aidan has also been Ayden, Aidyn, Aden, and Aaden and Madeline can be spelled Madeleine, Maddelin, and Madalen," says Name Your Tune Creator/Executive Producer Candace Alper. "Parents like the sound of traditional names, but they also want to show the individuality of their children. Parents realize that the name they give their child will become part of the child's identity."

"Variations on the name Aiden are also dominating both boys and girl names Aidan, Jayden, Brayden, Hayden, Caden. These names are gender-neutral and can also be spelled so many ways, hence their popularity," explains Candace. - more on this story
