PR reports: Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc., is proud to announce that on November 10th it will publish LAST WORDS, the memoir of legendary comedian George Carlin written with the help of best-selling author Tony Hendra. The book will be a poignant and hilarious look at Carlin's extraordinary 50 plus year performance career, his body of work, and his personal life story.
For the last 14 years of his life, the brilliant and hilarious George Carlin, who died in June of 2008, worked on his autobiography. When Carlin died, Hendra approached Carlin's family about releasing the book. Based on hours of taped interviews, drafts, and polished chapters from their sessions, LAST WORDS is George Carlin's life story as it has never been told before. Even after his death, Carlin is apt to prove, he is still one of the funniest men who ever lived.
The voice in this book is pure Carlin with all the wit, charm, and mischievous insight that made him one of the most iconic and admired comedians of all time. The book is an irreverently funny, yet deeply honest, story about George's life, from birth to his childhood in Manhattan to life on the stage, blending his signature humor with never-before-told stories from his life to give us an honest look at a true genius at work.

rephlektor reports: It was only a matter of time. Two genre-defining artists together…pop music and dance music's most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. DJ Hell's "U Can Dance" is an interpretation of an unreleased Bryan Ferry song, but it's one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
Hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of Teufelswerk, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. One that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. Ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as ever—recording a new album, performing in places as far afield as Siberia, opening up the Cannes Film Festival...basically just being Bryan Ferry.
And now here they are together...It all started in 2006 when Hell dropped in to meet Ferry at his West London studio. At first they discussed Hell remixing an old Roxy Music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (U Can Dance).

PR reports: If John Denver believed sunshine on your shoulder would make you happy, then electronic dance group Marrow is convinced they'll deliver even greater joy by pumping some UV dBs where the sun don't shine. Sunshine Enema is the follow up to Marrow's debut, Quiet Desperation, which fueled a two-coast tour, built a national fan base, and inspired the fan-remix album, "Remix Us Miserable".
Called a "local band, but more so, an experience," by the San Francisco Chronicle, and "Band of the Week" by the Contra Costa Times, Marrow is shipping Sunshine Enema in both CD and collectable Marrow-monogrammed 'posterior pill-shaped' 1GB USB flash drives, both replete with dance beats guaranteed to flush out any impurities in your system. While Marrow's limited edition Sunshine Enema CD includes "special audio surprises", it's the USB version of the Sunshine Enema Master Cleanse kit that's bound to blow the most sonic smoke up your soon-to-be-dancing derrière.
The Sunshine Enema Master Cleanse kit, shipped in prescription bags with daily dosage aural ingestion instructions, contains eight original tracks in digital formats, smartphone and desktop wallpapers, along with other goodies that are perfect for brightening you up from the inside out. Other Sunshine Enema merchandise, such as t-shirts, buttons, baby clothes and Flip camcorders, are available through the band's website.

PR reports: Because Christmas is a time of tradition, it is only fitting that this year's crop of holiday music offers a look into "Christmas Past" with classic artists such as Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond interpreting old standards. And, of course, there are re-releases of quintessential yuletide fare such as the Jackson 5 Ultimate Christmas Collection and Phil Spector's A Christmas Gift for You.
In sharp contrast, one artist has his sights set on "Christmas Future" and outer space. With his new album, Cosmic Christmas, Eban Schletter creates a sonic vision of yuletide spirit adrift far into the galaxy. Not content to simply record Theremin versions of Christmas songs you might have heard thousands of times, Schletter created a concept album which takes the listener on a journey through a strange and poetic tale worthy of The Twilight Zone. The mise-en-scène: a military satellite finds itself in the midst of a musical "transmission" which forces it to rethink its primary directive. Original songs, like "What Will Become of Christmas" (sung eloquently by Grant-Lee Phillips), melodiously underscore the evolution of this artificial intelligence.
This decidedly "artsy" turn may be surprising to those who know Eban Schletter as the man behind the music for TV shows like SpongeBob Squarepants, Mr. Show with Bob & David and Drawn Together. But those familiar with his score to the indie film The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari and his previous CD releases, in particular Witching Hour, The Civilian and Frontiers, will no doubt find this a perfectly logical addition to his eclectic repertoire.
