A Perfect Borland Nine Inch Filter
No it's not a new tool from Craftsman or a plumbing term, it's a new supergroup. MTV had this little tidbit.

MTV.com reports:  A strange clash of artists is set to appear on the soundtrack to the vampire flick "Underworld," which hits theaters September 19. The Damning Well, the eclectic combo of former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, Filter's Richard Patrick, A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese and Nine Inch Nails' Danny Lohner, lead the charge with "Awakening," followed by the equally inventive teaming of David Bowie with Tool/APC's Maynard James Keenan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante on "Bring the Disco King." The LP, due September 2, also features contributions from Skinny Puppy, Finch and Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano.

Dark Side Of The DVD.
Rolling Stone.com reports: A new DVD, Dark Side of the Moon Classic Album will look into the making of Pink Floyd's classic 1973 album.
The film will break Dark Side down track by track, offering commentary about its nine songs from Floyd principals singer/bassist Roger Waters, guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason, keyboardist Richard Wright and engineer Alan Parsons.

In addition to commentary about Dark Side, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in March, the DVD (due August 26th) will feature bonus footage, including Waters performing a stripped-down "Brain Damage" and Gilmour's acoustic "Breathe."

But they still won't release a DVD version of The Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of the Moon as the alternate audio track.  - Click Here for the Full Story

Grade 8 Saved By Sobe
Reports of their demise were a bit premature. Sobe came to the rescue of Grade 8, who were just about to leave the Ozzfest.  The PRP gives us the details: Grade 8 have now managed to stay onboard for the rest of this years Ozzfest trek, thanks to the help of their sponsor Sobe. The latest statement reads: "After much talk of having to drop off of Ozzfest, Grade 8 have managed to stay on the tour with the help of Sobe. Raise your glasses during Grade 8's set in Philly!"

The band were originally set to drop off the tour, as a statement was released from the Ozzfest camp earlier that read: "Grade 8 will be dropping off of Ozzfest. The band has had some conflict and they have requested to be let off the remaining shows. Today's show in Scranton will be their last show on the tour. A replacement may be named shortly." Grade 8 seem to be on shaky ground as of late as their label Atlantic pulled the bulk of their promotional budget last month, while this latest near-cancellation is highly rumored to be a result of their touring support being pulled as well.  - Click Here for the Full Story

Britney The New Oprah
It's not rock related but it just shows you where television is going. Britney Spears is looking at her own talk show.

MTV.com Reports: Spears is working on plans for a TV show of her own. Negotiations are ongoing for the singer to executive produce a daily syndicated talk show, which she would occasionally appear on, her spokesperson said. The format would likely use elements from news-magazine programs as well as traditional talk shows. Spears, however, will not be hosting, and no other host has been selected yet. -  Click Here for the Full Story

Ticketmaster Sued By Band
Reuters Reports - Colorado jam rock band String Cheese Incident has filed suit against Ticketmaster in federal court in Denver,  charging the No. 1 concert ticket retailer had tried to cut off direct ticket sales to fans.

At issue are the blocks of concert tickets typically held back for sales to die-hard fans, a practice successfully pioneered by the Grateful Dead and now common for many acts including Pearl Jam, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith and others.

In the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, SCI Ticketing, a company formed by a partnership between the band and Madison House, a booking agency, charged Ticketmaster had used its "monopoly power" and "a web of long-term" contracts to cut off its supply of concert tickets.

A spokesman for Ticketmaster said the company does not comment on pending lawsuits as a matter of policy.

The lawsuit asks for damages and a court order barring Ticketmaster from the alleged anti-competitive practices. Click Here for the Full Story

Haste La Vista, Davis?
Normally, we wouldn't even bother with this but since we've reported on some of the more "interesting" celebs running in the Ca. Gov. recall election, we have to add two new names to the list.

Haste La Vista, Davis? That's what actor Arnold Schwarzenegger hopes when he vies for a total recall of Davis to terminate the Governor from office.  (sorry couldn't resist).

Schwarzenegger announced on Wednesday that he is running in the recall election. He had earlier given indications that he would not run. But now he's the running man.  Ok enough stupid puns for one news blast.

Also on the ballot, is none other than Gary Coleman. The former Diff'rent Strokes star announced his candidacy on Wednesday and offered up his "short" platform of a of balanced budget, and legalizing gay marriage and marijuana.  One report quoted Coleman saying he wanted to "drill for oil in every national park."  Go Gary Go!  Choo Choo!

We may be broke in California but this election is sure turning out to be entertaining!
