Linkin Park Bling-Bling
I thought we could start this Thursday off with a non-story that says tons about today's popular culture.

DayInRock.com reports:  So ya'll wanna be down with da latest Linkin Park bling-bling when you're cruis'in the malls?  You're in luck!  Sort of, Linkin Park made the big announcement on their website

"Thanks everyone who participated in the LP Jewelry Poll. They have taken your votes into consideration and launched the jewelry section of the store. "

But when you gaze upon the offering there isn't much Bling-Bling to be had. In fact, all they have in the bling-bling department is a belly button ring. Not a LP Gansta gold chain in sight.  Not much of a jewelry department. They do have hats (you must wear them sideways or you will not be admitted to Hot Topic which 'buy' the way is now selling clothing bases on that ubber punk icon "Hello Kitty"), ear plugs (so you won't have to listen to the music) and a really groovy wallet (to carry the cash to the record store to buy their next regurgitation, opps I mean remix CD).

Looks like LP hanging out with Limp Bizkit this summer rubbed off on them, they are now creating news items with no substance. And we thought we would pass this non-news on to you!

Used to be that the SharonFest second stage was a way to launch a career, now it seems it's the best way to break up a band or get a band dropped by their record label. Is it the Curse of Sharon?

Desperate Crazy Town Singer Turns to 902-Pimps and Ho's for Help
Blabbermouth reports: CRAZY TOWN singer Shifty Shellshock has teamed up with Rick Solomon, who once dated actress Shannen Doherty, and producer Zack Bautzer to release "Beverly Hills Pimps and Ho's", a DVD series that shows some of Hollywood's hottest actresses in compromising positions, according to MTV.com.

CRAZY TOWN's sophomore album, "Darkhorse", moved less than 13,000 units in its first week of release in November 2002 and was widely considered to be one of the biggest album flops in recent history. Burning Up The Bands, Not the Charts
siN's metal news reports: It's reported by Eclipse Records' website that FIVE FOOT THICK's rehearsal complex burned to the ground with all of their equipment. Here's the full story:

They forgot to mention Poison's truck fire that was reported in the Day In Rock a couple a days ago, in which one reader commented in the fanspeak "Too bad Sum 41 didn't burn up with the Poison's gear". Ouch!

Bizkit Loves Press
Seems Limp Bizkit just loves to get press, even when they simply regurgitate previous announcements. Then again, we keep reporting this stuff. But that gives us a chance to poke fun at frontmonkey Fred Durst, which is always fun.

Blabbermouth reports: LIMP BIZKIT held a press conference prior to their show in Amsterdam, Holland Tuesday night (September 2). Check out pictures from LFI.

LIMP BIZKIT's new album, "Results May Vary", is due on September 23 through Flip/Interscope Records. The group's free concert at London's Finsbury Park this weekend will be broadcast live by MTV Europe. The September 6 broadcast from the 40,000-capacity venue will be called "A Night With Limp Bizkit", and will be preceded by a 60-minute special featuring exclusive interviews with the band about the making of their new album. Highlights of the concert will also be shown on MTV's 10 European web sites. - Click Here for the Full Story

This brings up two questions: 1) If a tree fell in the forest, did it fall because of Fred swinging from it? 2) If there wasn't slow news days, would Limp Bizkit get any press? Of course, we would report it, because we so love calling Durst the frontmonkey.  (Kudos to Mr. Huh? for coming up with that title for Fred).

RIAA Broke the Law?
Wired reports: Lawyers for a New York woman accused of unlawfully sharing music over the Internet suggested Tuesday the recording industry acted illegally when it investigated her online activities and that a search of music files on her computer may have been unconstitutional.

The lawyers Richard Ugelow, Glenn Peterson and Daniel Ballard are asking a federal magistrate to delay at least until Sept. 10 ordering the woman's Internet provider to turn over her name and address to the Recording Industry Association of America, the trade group for the largest labels.

In court papers, the lawyers said they may argue that the RIAA violated state and federal laws by intercepting the woman's Internet address as its investigators scoured file-sharing networks looking for songs to download.

The defense team said it also may argue that the music industry was improperly affiliated with law enforcement and thus its perusal of music files on the woman's computer violated Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches.

Matt Oppenheim, RIAA's vice president said, "The Fourth Amendment clearly doesn't apply to private parties. You learn that in first-year law school."

An outside lawyer agreed..- Click Here Full Story

What are they up to now special: Boy George The Musical.
Yahoo reports: NEW YORK - When it comes to "Taboo," Rosie O'Donnell has put her money where her mouth is. The former talk-show diva is the producer and sole investor in the $10 million Boy George musical, opening on Broadway Nov. 13.

"I always think: Go big or go home," O'Donnell said Wednesday during a news conference at a Times Square Internet cafe to kick off Web site ticket sales for the production, which begins preview performances Oct. 24 at the Plymouth Theatre.

"Taboo," O'Donnell said, is "a legitimate, knock-'em-down, leave-'em-screaming, worth-a-$100-a-seat Broadway show." She confidently predicted it would win the Tony Award for best musical next June.

"Taboo," which had a 15-month run in England, focuses on two members of the early '80s London club scene: performance artist and designer Leigh Bowery and a young singer-songwriter named George O'Dowd, who became George.

O'Donnell saw the show during its London engagement and thought, "`If I can make this happen (on Broadway) it would be unreal.' The score was brilliant. All I felt that was needed was ... some of the real story of what happened to these people being more accurately reflected."

Euan Morton will play George, the role he originated in London, and George will portray Bowery. - Click Here Full Story

Travis Returns
From Epic: From Worldwide Success To A Near Tragic End Travis Makes A Triumphant Return With 12 Memories On October 14

The one-time 'invisible band' - Travis return after an absence of some two years with their fourth LP 12 Memories on October 14th.

12 Memories is Travis at their most powerful, poignant and effecting. It is an album that sees Travis explore lyrically darker themes the forthcoming single Re-Offender, to be released in the UK on September 29th, tackles the hidden crime of domestic violence. Musically, too, there is a sea of change: Travis have rediscovered a spirit of adventure and set sail on courses new. This is a far edgier and brooding set of songs than anything that has gone before. Yet, Travis still possess an eloquence and an ear to a fine tune.

12 Memories is the Travis album that almost never was. Just over a year ago drummer Neil Primrose sustained a spinal injury. Medical opinion was that Neil would be unlikely to walk again. For Fran, Dougie and Andy, there were no 'ifs' or 'buts' about it. No Neil. No Travis. They subsequently cancelled all plans.

Travis are expected shortly to announce a set of shows to coincide with the album's release.

12 Memories Tracklisting

Spineshank "Smothers" Rock Radio
From Roadrunner Records: New York, NY: SPINESHANK's brand new single, "Smothered" has suffocated the competition at Active Rock Radio. The song is taking off, and is about to get a major boost, thanks to its featured appearance on a hotly anticipated soundtrack!

The track, from SPINESHANK's third album, Self-Destructive Pattern, nabbed #2 Most Added honors on R&R's Active Rock chart, placing them above new tracks by Seether and Sevendust, and just inches behind Chevelle's new track. That's good company, and SPINESHANK and the song certainly rose to the occasion.
