Sevendust Records
Chipster reports: Sevendust is teaming up with innovative record label WineDark Records which is distributed in the U.S. by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD), for the upcoming release of their latest record, Next. Sevendust is the Atlanta, GA-based rock group who clawed their way through the late 1990s and early 2000s with a string of hit albums, forming the backbone of a sound and attitude that defies genre classification. Beginning with their 1997 self-titled debut and continuing through to their most recent record, Seasons, Sevendust, despite a self described "roller coaster ride," has sold nearly four million units in the US alone and is poised to expand it's domain to the rest of the world.

Bono Challange
Reader Submission reports: A Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter who donates ten cents each time her group's music is downloaded has challenged Bono to give one dime from each U2 download to Africa.

"In November of 2001 you came here to Los Angeles on tour, and from the stage you challenged us in Hollywood to come up with innovative ways to begin solving some of the enormous problems our world faces. You reminded us that our ideas are spun out to the entire world through the mass media we so dominate. And although I know you were talking to the audience in general that night, I took what you said to heart and have thought about it a great deal. I know that you're not the 'King of the Music Business,' though you might enjoy thinking yourself so from time to time. But you are one of the industry's most iconic and influential figures. And that Bono, is precisely why I've decided to make this appeal to you. You, with your celebrity friends, acquaintances and associates, have the power to make benevolence, compassion and generosity part of the transaction when music is legally downloaded. You and I share a deep love and respect for the late John Lennon, who asked us to 'Imagine.' I'm much more practical and pragmatic. It's 2005 and while 'imagining' is a great start, we need to take things to the next level." See full story for the entire "letter" to Bono. - Click Here for the Full Story
