White Crunk
Pitchfork reports: White Crunk! How about that for an unexpected new genre? And no, it's not a bunch of Southern boys ridin' around in their pick-up trucks blastin' Skynyrd remixes and beating down mailboxes. It's how Kanye West refers to Franz Ferdinand's dance rock, which the rapper says has influenced his new album, Late Registration.

Kanye and the band met a while back at the MTV Europe Awards. At the time, head Franzie Alex Kapranos said, "We've been talking a lot about production and we really feel the most cutting-edge stuff is being done in the world of hip-hop right now. Kanye West's a good example. I think that's maybe where we'll look for inspiration on the next record." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Tommy Lee a Hit?
ie marketing reports: Tommy Lee's "Tryin' To Be Me," the first single off his new solo album, was the #1 Most Added Song at Mainstream Rock and #2 Most Added at Active Rock last week. This week shows even more promise with a debut at #35 on the Active Rock Billboard Chart as "Tryin' to Be Me" is the #2 Greatest Increased record of the week. The single has now been added at over 70 stations in the first two weeks of release and already pulled Top-5 requests across the country. The album will satisfy rock devotees and others with its solidly constructed hooks and guest performances by such artists as Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction), Joel Madden, Carl Bell (Fuel), Deryck Whibley, Andrew McMahon (Jack's Mannequin / Something Corporate), Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys), and Butch Walker. Metal Blast 2005
Chipster reports: In the annals of rock 'n' roll, few theatrical stage shows have shocked, horrified and entertained America as much as W.A.S.P.'s did on the Los Angeles-based band's 1983-84 debut tour Now, W.A.S.P. is resurrecting this not-for-the-faint-of-heart spectacle of blood and gore for the first-ever American Metal Blast 2005 tour. This uncontrollable onslaught, with W.A.S.P. planning a "greatest hits" set, comes exactly two decades after the band's scandalous, meteoric rise spooked the nation to the point where it was vilified by an out-of-touch Congress and hopelessly misguided Parents' Music Resource Center (PMRC).

Joining W.A.S.P. -- vocalist/guitarist Blackie Lawless, guitarist Darrell Roberts, bass guitarist Mike Duda and drummer Stet Howland -- on tour for this celebration of heavy metal are L.A. Guns and former Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy. Metal Church will appear on select July dates. The second leg of the tour, which runs from August 18 to August 28, will feature all four bands. DVD Orgy
ABC PR reports: "No one has seen this side of us, the behind-the-scenes reality of Orgy," says Bobby Hewitt, the band's drummer and director of their retrospective DVD, TRANS GLOBAL SPECTACLE, due August 23 on D1 Music/DLC Records. "Most of our fans have only seen us onstage, in videos and in magazines, but this is the real us."

In addition to clips for "Blue Monday" and "Stitches" (counted among MTV's "Top 100 Videos of all Time") from Candyass, "Fiction (Dreams in Digital)" from Vapor Transmission, and "Vague" from Punk Statik Paranoia, complete live performances of "Blue Monday," "Gender" and "Dissention," and four exclusive audio remixes of the forthcoming single "Pure" (which are currently being serviced to rock and alternative radio stations across the country), the DVD reveals five guys from L.A. as they really are - rude, crude and socially unacceptable but also funny, frank and always united in appreciation of their fans. - Click Here for the Full Story
