Dylan CDs Suck
hecklerspray reports: Getting old is a lot of fun because you get to look back on the past and declare it all to be uniformly better than it is now even though there were no computers back then and everyone died of dysentery at the age of 36. Bob Dylan is the latest old man to be exploiting this right. Even though he makes a lot of money broadcasting music from a radio studio up into space where it's bounced off a satellite back into a few million handheld digital devices, Bob Dylan has had it with technology. For example, in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine Bob Dylan says that every piece of music made in the last 20 years has been "atrocious."

"I don't know anybody who's made a record that sounds decent in the past 20 years, really. You listen to these modern records, they're atrocious, they have sound all over them. There's no definition of nothing, no vocal, no nothing, just like static Even these songs probably sounded ten times better in the studio when we recorded 'em. CDs are small. There's no stature to it." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

blabbermouth.net reports: Reactivated Swedish black metallers SHINING have issued the following statement regarding the widespread rumors that the group's leader, Niklas Kvarforth, has committed suicide: "There have been many rumours saying that our front-man, founder Kvarforth is dead. We wish these speculations to be put to an end by telling you what we know: A couple of days ago, we received a letter from a person very close to Kvarforth telling us that Kvaforth had decided to leave this world behind and also introducing as a kind off last will, a new singer to replace him for future events of SHINING.

"All that we know for 200% is that Kvarforth has been missing for the past four weeks and might be dead; we don't really know.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Mega Delay
SMN reports: The next MEGADETH album has a title -- "United Abominations" -- but that's about it for the time being.

"We're putting the finishing touches on it," reports group leader Dave Mustaine, who's also preparing for the Sept. 6 start of the second Gigantour traveling heavy metal festival. "We've got a little more work before it's finished, but it should be out some time next year."

Mustaine says an initial Oct. 31 release date for the album, MEGADETH's first as part of a new deal with Roadrunner Records, was "wishful thinking," and both the group and label felt a 2007 release was preferable to November or December of this year.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Police DVD Release Set
PR reports: EVERYONE STARES: THE POLICE INSIDE OUT, the directorial debut of five-time Grammy Award-winning composer and drummer Stewart Copeland, will be released on DVD exclusively by Universal Music Enterprises in September 12, 2006.

EVERYONE STARES is a first-person account of The Police's ascent from obscurity to worldwide fame as well as an astute and sometimes hilarious commentary on the pop culture of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Culled from over 50 hours of Super 8 movies he shot during the acclaimed trio's heyday, the film offers an insider's perspective on touring, the other band members and the adoring fans that puts the audience in the drummer's seat. Copeland's kinetic and artful camerawork forms a visual ode to the rhythm of the road: a surreal swirl of hotel rooms, bus rides, press conferences and record signings punctuated by nightly flashes of electrifying on-stage exhilaration.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
