Westlife Officially Suck
hecklerspray reports: Westlife, Lee Ryan, Lisa Scott-Lee. All names that fill normal, intelligent people with fear and hatred. But fear not - these three acts are now officially really bad; the Naomi awards say so.

The Naomi awards are named after super-tard Naomi Campbell and her short-lived music career (she released a single called Love And Tears in 1994). It is a 'light-hearted awards ceremony' - which really means that they completely mean everything they say, but claim it to be 'fun' to avoid legal action - run by digital channel Music Choice to find the very worst in bad music from the last year.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Restricted Idol
TMZ reports: TMZ has learned American Idol' producers have applied the brakes to contestants who think they can become the next William Hung.

TMZ is privy to the "exclusivity" clause that season five contestants have signed. It basically paralyzes contestants from doing anything showbiz related until three months after the grand finale. The contract prohibits contestants from entering into "...any talent management agreement, talent agency agreement, recording contract, songwriting contract, acting contract, modeling contract, sponsorship contract, or any merchandising contract ....until three months following the date of the first broadcast of the final episode announcing the winner of the competition."

The exclusivity clause goes on to say that if a contestant signs a deal in violation of the contract, A.I.' producers "shall be entitled to injunctive and other equitable relief." Translation - a judge could quash the deal.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Digital Mellowdrone
Sony reports: Mellowdrone emerged a little battered and bruised after filming a video for "Oh My," from the L.A.-based quartet's Box marks a first for 3 Records/Red Ink. The album will be released digitally on March 7, and then will be available at regular retail outlets April 4.

"Oh My," directed by Vince Haycock (Vitamin Pictures.TV), the surreal clip features Mellowdrone band members falling from the sky and crashing into the desert floor in hyper-slow motion. To capture the unique visual effect, Haycock used a specialized camera originally used for scientific testing - one that shoots thousands more frames per second higher than a traditional film camera - to film the band members falling off a 15-foot platform.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

5 Greatest American Rock Bands
Trent McMartin reports: After five weeks and twenty-five bands, the final five acts of the 30 greatest American rock bands of all time are about to be revealed. The previous part (Part V: Numbers 10-6) saw the likes of The Pixies, R.E.M., The Grateful Dead, Parliament/Funkadelic and the Velvet Underground. The bands that make up the final five positions on this list are familiar (and obvious choices) to a majority of music fans. But that doesn't mean the selections won't cause a stir among those whose favourite group was not included or who denounce this list as being subjective. Again, this is not a definitive rock and roll ratings list -- no list is -- only a means to encourage discussion among individuals passionate about music.

5. The Doors
4. Sly and the Family Stone
3. The Ramones
2. Aerosmith
1. Nirvana
