Bobo Vs Aids
hecklerspray reports: Bono is such an easy target for mockery - a tiny, middle-aged Irish man dressed as a teenager with ridiculous sunglasses trying to save the world by going "doo doo doo" on iPod adverts.

So it sort of annoys us when Bono does something smart and kind and decent, like roping in a number of huge brands to create Red, a superbrand which will dedicate a portion of revenue to help fight AIDS in Africa. It annoys us, because we can't really take the piss too much.

What's that? You'll be able to buy special Bono-style Red sunglasses so you can fight AIDS while looking like Bono? That's ridiculous. Oh thank God.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Charly Manson Punkers
Press Release reports: Wellspring proudly announces the DVD release of LIVE FREAKY! DIE FREAKY!, the outrageous stop-motion animation musical-comedy retelling of the Manson family crimes directed by John Roecker and voiced by a legion of alternative rock icons, including Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day (the band that recently swept the MTV Video Music Awards) and Rancid/Operation Ivy's Tim Armstrong. The film is the first from Tim Armstrong's production company Hellcat Pictures. "Live Freaky! Die Freaky!" will be release on January 31, 2006 On DVD (With Bonus Complete soundtrack)

LIVE FREAKY! DIE FREAKY! gleefully pushes the boundaries of good taste as it tells the story of a young man who discovers a copy of Helter Skelter (the definitive book on the Manson killings) in the year 3069 and decides to interpret it as a biblical tome, with Charles Manson as the Messiah. The film flashes back to 1969 and presents a hilariously debauched portrayal of Manson and his followers though the trials and tribulations of teaching the world better living through "music, murder, and mayhem." It is safe to say that never before has so much sex, violence, and ribald tongue-in-cheek humor appeared in a stop-motion animated production. Paper Magazine recently called it "the most deliciously tasteless piece of filmmaking since John Waters' PINK FLAMINGOS."

A-Hole Secrets
tinfoil reports: If the controversial Analog Hole bill makes it into law, US technologists will have to obey a law whose most important details are a trade-secret.

The entertainment industry, always a bastion of media savvy, has proposed its "A-Hole" bill as a legal means of limiting the conversion of analog music and video to digital files. Under the bill, every maker of a device that can convert analog signals to digital ones (like iPods, camcorders, and PCs) would be required by law to be built with a detector for a proprietary watermarking technology called VEIL (the use of free/open source in these technologies would be outlawed to prevent the removal of VEIL detectors).[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
