Celluloid vaudeville
PR reports: Amanda Palmer, of the critically acclaimed sensation The Dresden Dolls, will be hitting the road this summer in support of the band's sophomore album, Yes Virginia, with a typically ambitious experiment: Celluloid vaudeville!

A program consisting of short films selected from submissions by the Dolls feverishly creative fan base will be peppered with thought provoking vaudeville antics in cities across America. Amanda Palmer herself will cap off the night in typical piano-destroying fashion, singing songs culled from popular and not-so-popular film soundtracks (expect John Hughes, Pink Floyd AND Disney Classics. Deep Throat? Oklahoma? She's still working on it). [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Cult of Slayer
PR reports: There certainly was a shift in the universe this past Tuesday - the day of 6.6.06 - as commercial radio stations started spinning SLAYER's brand new song, "Cult." Hold on...SLAYER on COMMERCIAL radio? This must be End of Times, indeed.

Some three dozen commercial radio stations across the country started playing "Cult" on Tuesday, including WRIF/Detroit, KISW/Seattle, KXXR/Minneapolis, KEYJ/Abilene and KUPD/Phoenix. As far as we know, none of the stations were struck by lightening, no swarms of locust appeared, and no one showed up to work the following day with the Mark of the Beast. "Cult," which is also available for download at iTunes and will be on Slayer's brand new, as yet untitled album due out July 25[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Rock n Women: Liz Larin
antiMusic reports: Today's Rock n Woman is Liz Larin, here is Morley with why he picked her: One of my favorite records recently has been Wake Up Start Dreaming by Detroit's Liz Larin. Her music is in the realm of say, Bonnie Raitt but much.much better. In fact one of the best things about this record is that there's no filler on here at all. Liz wrote everything on the record except for a Zeppelin cover and beside vocals, she plays guitars and keyboards.

antiMUSIC: What made you cover "Going to California"?

Liz: Well, I worked it up one night before a show and found that I really identified with the lyrics, since I was out in California myself for a while. The dream of California seems to me to be so much greater than the realityI love Detroit and am happy to be back home.

antiMUSIC: You cleaned up at the Detroit Music Awards this year. How important is it to be recognized at home?

Liz: There is so much great music here, music for music's sake. I have a lot of respect for the musicians that I work with here and for all the ones that are known on a national level. To me, it's a great honor to be part of a music scene that has spawned everyone from Stevie Wonder to White Stripes.
