Gay Aiken Regrets
antiMusic reports: The man that sparked the "Gay Aiken" controversy five months ago now says he regrets telling his story to a tabloid. John Paulus, a former Green Beret, claimed that he had met American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken through a gay website and had a one night stand with the singer in December of 2005.

"In an very callow and selfish moment I relayed the story to the National Enquirer," Paulus wrote on his blog last Friday. "The next day I had come to realize what I had done- I defied the trust of someone. I attempted to rectify my error by seeking a solution to stop the story from being printed. Through an entertainment attorney I had a cease and desist letter sent to America Media Corp, the owner of the National Enquirer. The story had been stopped temporarily until it was leaked to Billy Masters by one of his sources inside of Star Magazine. Billy Masters went on to provide the information to the New York Post which ran it as a blind item." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Hater Jesus
PR reports: Everclear is back with a great new album (Welcome to the Drama Club; to be released September 12th), a new single ("Hater", which is THE break-up song of the summer) and a video for "Hater" which is bound to be the most talked-about clip of 2006.

Hater is a brutally honest look at shattered relationships and for the video, the song's theme was broadened to rail against those who justify hate in the name of religion as represented by the crude & violent exploits of the clip's fictional "Hater Jesus" character. This video is certain to stir passions on both sides and must be seen! The Hater video will premiere on iFilm this Thursday, June 22nd at NOON EST/9:00 AM PST.- Click Here for the Full Story

Artic Monkey Quits
thetripwire reports: About a month ago we reported that Arctic Monkeys' bassist Andy Nicholson decided to take a break from touring due to exhaustion. Well, it seems that this temporary break has turned permanent, as the band has announced that he has officially left the band.

The band broke the news on their official website, where they said: "We are sad to tell everyone that Andy is no longer with the band. Nick O'Malley, who stood in for Andy while he was absent from the recent tour of North America, shall carry on playing bass for the remaining shows this summer.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Aerosmith/Motley Crue's Evil Tour
antiMusic reports: Some bands are loners and some can't stand the idea of going it alone on the long hard road of touring. Aerosmith fits that last category and after sharing the stage with bands ranging from Cheap Trick to KISS in recent years, the band has decided they needed a bit more decadence for their next tour so they are teaming up with Motley Crue for a co-headlining run at North America this Fall dubbed the "Route Of All Evil Tour".

The dates have been announced and the debauchery will commence on September 14th in the rock mecca of Holmdel, NJ and conclude with a 'hanging chad' celebration on November 24th in W. Palm Beach, Florida. Tickets to the first few dates go on sale Saturday. [see full story for dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

Pixies CD on Hold
Gigwise reports: Pixies front man Frank Black has revealed that he has dumped all the new material he had been writing for the band.

Rumours have been rife since the band reformed in 2004 that they were readying a comeback long player but Black seems to have put that on the backburner now.

He told Billboard that he had been writing new songs for the last six months "in an attempt to convince one of the Pixies to make a Pixies record again. I can't say who she is." Erm, we wonder?[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Mars Volta Tracks and Art
antiMusic reports: The Mars Volta has announced the tracklisting to their forthcoming album 'Amputecture'. A solid release date is not yet known but they are expected to release it around the time they hit the road with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in August.

The band also announced that they have enlisted artist Jeff Jordan to design the album cover. [you can check out some of his work at the full story link. Our favorite is the walrus chicken in a boat in the sky with the naked woman. It has sort of a Norman Rockwell on Quaaludes meets Salvador Dali quality to it.]

Here is the Amputecture Tracklisting: 1. Vicarious Atonement - 2. Tetragrammation - 3. Vermicide - 4. Meccamputechture - 5. Asilos Magdalena - 6. Viscera Eyes - 7. Day Of The Baphomets - 8. El Ciervo Vulnerado- Click Here for the Full Story

AFI Fire Sale
antiMusic reports: You know when a band moves from a small indie label with very little promotion to a major label with a lot of muscle behind them and end up with the biggest selling album in the country; chances are someone will do their best to profit off of the previous releases from the indie label. Such seems to be the case with AFI and the site Interpunk.com. Punkbands found their AFI sale a bit of a rip off. They are selling the Nitro era AFI cds for $10 bucks but one reader thinks they are selling them at cost since most Nitro releases retail at $12.99. Does it really matter? Like punkbands, it was a bit of a slow news day but it is interesting to see punk commercialization in action. That being said, our very own Matthew Hastie just turned in his review of the new AFI album 'Decemberunderground' and he felt so strongly about it he gave it 5 Stars. He also noted that the move to bigger label opened creative doors for the band but didn't lead to a sell-out as it appears they are making the music they always wanted to. Of course, that's all conjecture and subjective but you can read the review at the full story link and if you wanna sample their older material to compare and contrast, hey they are on sale at the above mentioned site.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Ion Dissonance Voiceless
antiMusic reports: Montreal metalcore band Ion Dissonance will soon be voiceless and Gabriel McCaughry announced that he is leaving the group. "It's over... and it's probably the hardest decision I had to take in my entire life. There are so many reasons... to be totally honest with you, I don't even know where to begin with this. Basically the Passion was slowly slipping away, but of course its not that simple. Over the years, several concerns (problems) began to spawn in my mind and concerned only me I guess, my personal views on how I was picturing myself doing in the band. And therefore my views on how I perceived Extreme music in general which differed from what Ion Dissonance would become. And I cannot deny the fact that it also had to do with some intra-social issues within the band itself." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
