Sanctuary reports: For their latest album Earth To America (Sanctuary/Widespread Records, June 13), Widespread Panic wanted to try something new- a new producer, a new studio, even a new country in which to work. It's what brought them to the Bahamas to work with producer Terry Manning, an inspired pairing that yielded some big rewards. Says Todd Nance (drums), "It's like he was waiting for us to touch upon what he was thinking. It was effortless; there wasn't a moment when we didn't know where to go or what to do." Adds John Bell (vocals, guitar), "He brings out some really heavy and rich tones." Sometimes, those results took the assistance of a few surprise gifts.

Crash Kelly CD/Tour
Black and White PR reports: Liquor and Poker Music has set a July 25th release date for the sophomore recording by Toronto rock quartet CRASH KELLY, the Gilby Clarke-produced Electric Satisfaction. A track from the new album, "Ride The Wire," is currently posted on the band's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/crashkelly.

On May 1, CRASH KELLY kicked off their Electric Satisfaction tour in grand style with a series of Canadian arena shows alongside Alice Cooper (whom they honor on the album with a cover of the Alice classic "Cold Ethyl"). "Playing with Alice Cooper in an arena setting was the culmination of many teenage fantasies, and it really felt like the beginning of the next phase for CRASH KELLY," Sean says. "The songs I write are designed to capture the feeling of the best of the 70s arena rock giants, and to actually share the stage with one of those giants was an immense pleasure and privilege." Hopeless/Sub City Records donates 5% of the retail list price from the sale of each compilation to the Kristin Brooks Hope Center.

US Gojira
Prosthetic reports: Prosthetic Records has enetered into an exclusive licensing agreement with France's Listenable Records to release the new album from French metal titans GOJIRA throughout North America. The band's latest opus, From Mars To Sirius, will be released through Prosthetic on Aug. 22.

Mixing technical proficiency, heavy-as-concrete riffs, and socially-conscious lyrics, GOJIRA truly is a thinking man's metal band, combining fierce aggression, varying tempos, and intelligent observations into an all-encompassing 64-minute voyage throughout From Mars To Sirius. Blabbermouth has already dubbed From Mars To Sirius "massively heavy but varied and suprising, never monotonous," with Decibel hailing the record as "monstrous, alien endgame chords, forged in fires of ice and honed to hyperjazz perfection." Spooky CD
Press Release reports: Arguably DJ culture's most intellectual turntablist, DJ Spooky links his personal roots together with his inimitable taste in music by hand selecting 34 of his favorite tracks from the Trojan Records archives and compiling them into one collection, In Fine Style: 50,000 Volts of Trojan Records (in stores June 27th). A heady experiment where he plucks important and influential songs from the venerable Jamaican record label's rich vaults, DJ Spooky sets out not only to create a new mood for the club scene but to take clubgoers through the vital history of Trojan and its direct impact on DJ and club culture to this day. "This mix is a combination of the old, the new, and the in between," he explains. "That's kind of the point: DJ culture in the 21st century is as much about the soundsystem as the playlist. I wanted to make a mix that reflected that: old and new."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Staff Meeting: Jofo
antiMusic reports: A lot of people work hard to make antiMusic what it is. So with our 8th anniversary we felt it was time to spotlight each writer so you can get to know them a little better. Over the next few weeks we will be posting a small portion of each staff person's new profile page. So let's get to know Joannie Foney a.k.a. JoFo a little better.

JoFo is from somewhere in Indiana and has been with antiMusic since Rocktober of 04. The first album she purchased was Metallica "Creeping Death" Picture Disc and the best concert she attended was Ozzy with Metallica opening. She refused to list her Top 10 Favorite artist by saying "I generally don't like anything put in any top ten list sponsored by VH1 or MTV or commercial radio in their pitiful attempts to keep foisting on the masses garbage & puke masquerading as music." Her musical pet peeve is "Bands that go from great to a parody in their quest for money." Her favorite parts of antiMusic are "Keavin's sarcastic comments on the news & his ability to give everything a snappy title. Talent like that is much needed & under appreciated in the world. I think Pres Bush should send him massive subsidies simply based on that." Click the full story to learn more about Jofo and discover which metal legend she thinks should be giving college commencement addresses, who she would smack for "giving a job & respect ability to Bob Rock" and a lot more!
