SYL On Hold
blabbermouth.net reports: Strapping Young Lad drummer Gene Hoglan (ex-DARK ANGEL, DEATH) has issued the following update:

"This past year has been a strange one, but no stranger than the last nine. All the typical band b.s., all the weird road stuff, all the feelings of impending doom, have seemed to kinda just wash away over the last bit of time.

"STRAPPING is on this extended hiatus, and by 'extended' I mean we'll get back together if the time is right. It could be a few months or a year, or it could be never. I sure as f*** don't know. It ain't up to me. So don't ask.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Defective Copyright
music.tinfoil reports: Shawn Hogan has received plenty of attention in the last year for his decision to fight the MPAA over the lawsuit they filed against him, claiming he had shared the movie Meet the Fockers via a file sharing program. The problem? Hogan didn't actually share the movie, has never downloaded it, and actually owns the DVD of the movie in question. The MPAA made it clear that if he just paid them $2,500, they would forget the whole thing -- which certainly has the feel of extortion. So, Hogan decided to fight the case in court to prove they were wrong, and said he wouldn't let them back out and run like they've done in other cases. All this, despite the fact that it would probably cost him over $100,000 in legal fees. Hogan decided it was worth it on principle. However, in preparing for the case, it looks like Hogan and his lawyer discovered that the studio might not actually have the rights to the movie. From First To Cash?
punkbands reports: Atreyu has further addressed the recent departure of From First to Last from their ongoing World Championship tour. FFTL last week described the situation saying that they were "forced to leave." The band explained the situation which predictably revolves around money and lawsuits

Atreyu has been portrayed in a terrible light during the course of this, and we're tired of it. We felt the need to make one final post including the honest truth about the issue. Due to Sonny..s vocal problems forcing him to leave the tour, FFTL would become an incomplete band. In the business of touring, from personal experience, and with the help of management (we have the same management as FFTL mind you), we came to the industry conclusion: ..incomplete band, incomplete money... We offered FFTL (minus the lead singer) a MORE than appropriate amount of money, whereas most other bands would have just asked them to leave all together.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
