Tenacious Denial
blabbermouth.net reports: Cindy Pearlman of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that comedian Jack Black tried to use LED ZEPPELIN's most famous song title, "Stairway to Heaven", in his new movie "Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny". Permission was granted by the band but after the scene was filmed, the ZEPPELIN members demanded to pull their song title from the gag.

The scene is in a mock Rock and Roll Hall of Fame set in California. The deal was: All rock groups depicted in this faked museum had to give permission to use their name, likeness, music and/or song titles. Black and his "D" partner Kyle Gass have a moment when they climb a huge staircase with a flashing neon sign "Stairway to Heaven."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

WiFi Defense
music.tinfoil reports: At Broadband Reports, Karl picks up on an OUT-LAW.COM report noting that Tammie Marson of Palm Desert, California responded to a file-sharing lawsuit from the RIAA by stating that her wireless network was not secure, and that therefore the file sharing seen on her network could have been from any passerby.

"The defense worked, and the RIAA dropped the case," Karl writes.

As an El Reg article points out, "If this becomes a popular defense, it could seriously hamper a huge number of file-sharing lawsuits taken in the US against individuals. It also looks to be a trend in defense against movie file-sharing lawsuits." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

you've been reading my blog
PR reports: A recently widely-circulated surreal video clip from the daytime TV show "All My Children" curiously name-drops Ipecac Records founder and Fantomas/Peeping Tom vocalist extraordinaire Mike Patton -- but neglects to mention Otto Von Schirach! Patton hand-picked and sequenced his own mix for the Miami based IDM composer, Von Schirach, resulting in the critically-revered album Maxipad Detention released this September on Ipecac. The video clip that caught fire on YouTube in September -- circulating faster than you can say "fat kid with a light-saber" -- was culled from a bizarre scene on "All My Children" in which a pair of marketing executives attempt to connect with an unimpressed and abrasive alternative artist by mentioning Mike Patton and his bands Faith No More and Tomahawk. The artist perks up at the mention of the singer's name, absurdly sneering, "you've been reading my blog!"[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Dionysus Fairytales And Reality
Kayos reports: Spain's Locomotive Music releases Dionysus' Fairytales And Reality today. Taking their name from the Greek God of Wine, Dionysus embraces the wine, women, and song lifestyle and expresses it using the vehicle of Melodic Progressive Metal. In 1999, a true meeting of the metal minds took place to form Dionysus, with the collaboration of singer Olaf Hayer (vocalist of Luca Turilli's solo albums), former Sinergy drummer Ronny Milianowicz, keyboard player Kaspar Dahlqvist (Yngwie), and Nation guitarist and bassist Johnny Öhlin and Nobby Noberg. Having two previous studio releases under its belt, Dioynsus is ready to make quite an impression with their most mature effort to date.- Click Here for the Full Story

Drake Bell's Time
PR reports: Universal Motown Records will release Drake Bell's highly-anticipated record, It's Only Time, on December 5th. For a 20-year-old, Drake Bell is an old soul when it comes to the music he listens to and plays on his Universal Motown Records debut It's Only Time. Songs like the first single, "I Know," which sounds like it could have come off Rubber Soul, and the empowering, Elton John-like rocker "Do What You Want" boasts a bittersweet pop sound, with catchy harmonies and plenty of exuberant vocal hooks, which is no wonder considering the Newport Beach, CA, native, whose mother is two-time world champion pool player Robin Dodson, was raised on the classic rock of the '60s. Learning how to play guitar from The Who's Roger Daltrey, with whom he worked in the 1998 movie Changing Destiny, Drake proved a natural student.
