The pop star was said to have been found passed out in his car at a set of traffic lights in Cricklewood, London by police who had been alerted by worried motorists.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the 43-year-old will appear at Brent Magistrates' Court in London on January 11 after being formally charged just before Christmas. [Let's hope for George's sake he gets Pete Doherty's judge� see full story for more breaking music news]
