Wilco Extend Tour
Filter reports: Wilco must be rolling along in the most comfortable tour bus known to man. Or, maybe they just really dig being out on the open road, enjoying the vast sky stretched out ahead of them, partying at festivals in beautiful locations.

Whatever the reason, they've tacked some additional U.S. dates onto their seemingly endless tour. The band will play in Duluth, MN on August 14, meander through Canada a bit, and then reappear in Seattle on August 21.

In other news, guitarist Nels Cline just released a new solo CD, with some assistance from drummer Glenn Kotche. Jeff Tweedy recently lent his voice to the folks at Comedy Central, playing the voice of God on the new animated series Lil' Bush.

Maiden Crooner Does Not Have Anthrax
PR reports: In a brand new, exclusive interview conducted by Rock N Roll Universe with original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno, the legendary singer discusses his new album 'The Living Dead,' his days in Maiden, the chances of that band being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, his dream of recording a classic crooner album, plus much more. A short excerpt from the interview follows below:

RNRU : Several months back there was an online petition started by fans of Anthrax to get the members of that band to consider you as the next vocalist for the band. What's your opinion regarding that, and if you were asked by the band, would you consider joining?

PD : I don´t mind. Anthrax is a great band, and Scott is a great bloke. But I don´t think I´m the man for the job.

RNRU : You've been in the business for over three decades now. Are there any goals, musically or otherwise that you'd still like to achieve?

PD : I really want to make a classic crooner album...some old Elvis tunes, Sinatra...I´m not kidding!- Read the full interview here

Bad Brains Recruit SOAD Shavo for Video
PR reports: The Bad Brains first video off of Build A Nation has been finished by director and System Of A Down member, Shavo. Shot at Sasquatch Festival and also Portland Oregon by famed cinematographer Danny Hiele (U2, Green Day, Kanye West), the concept caputures and merges punk and reggae.

Thus, the main punk video "Give Thanks And Praises" is seen merging into the dub reggae of "Jah Love." It's a concept Shavo felt did justice to the band as being innovators of punk rock:

"I really wanted to respect this band and bring out and capture what they are about, which is a certain intensity...yet, also bringing out all sides of the band. So, the brutal fury of the first video merges into this beautiful dub song. It is some of the most stunning cinematography from DP Danny Hiele I have ever seen. Glorious film style," says Shavo.- Still shots from the video shoot at Sasquatch Festival

"Jade and I have been working together for 6 months or so, and his incredible skill and dedication to extreme drumming and groove has made him the perfect drummer for Hate Eternal. We gel on everything from all the old songs to the new and the creativity process has been amazing. Working with Jade on the new songs, there is so much diversity and signature drumming to the melodies and riffs.- He's not done yet and also drops a hint on when the new CD will be out.

Nothing Left for As I Lay Dying
PR reports: AS I LAY DYING has just completed shooting the video for "Nothing Left," the first single off of their highly-anticipated album, AN OCEAN BETWEEN US. The new CD is due in stores on August 21, 2007.

The bleak, futuristic clip was shot in Van Nuys, California at Sound City Studios with Brian Thompson (Killswitch Engage, Angels & Airwaves) lending his directorial talents. "The high concept storyline mixed with the bands ripping performance should make this video a metal favorite," says Thompson.

The story, which was conceived as a collaboration between the band and Thompson, follows a female character through a series of events which takes place within a decaying, future landscape.- comments?

Finally An Honest Band!
DiR reports: Let's end to the week on a fun note. So we got an email from a regular reader, Brian Farrelly. Seems that he and his friend have come up with a cartoon about being in lame, go-nowhere band. It's called naturally enough Our Band Sucks and according to the YouTube page it is in response to Bon Jovi's "Runaway" video.

The cartoon is pretty short, so even those with short attention spans from years of watching MTV should be able follow along. We also hear that Roadrunner is eager to make a deal with the band but couldn't find them at the mall when they looked. RCA also reportedly showed an early interest but the band didn't suck enough for their standards.- Enuff said, check out the cartoon here
