Before the Bling: A-Plus Reflects
PR reports: In the latest edition of the Hierocast (Hiero Imperium's official podcast), Bay Area hip-hop authority ID sits down with rap legend A-Plus to discuss his "long and illustrious career." Going all the way back to his first rhyme in 1982 at the age of 8, A-Plus gives you the inside scoop on his elementary schools days with Del the Funky Homosapien, Tajai, and Casual; Souls of Mischief's successful but frustrating time as a major-label artist; the evolution of Hieroglyphics; and the ups and downs of running your own label.

In addition to his new album My Last Good Deed, A-Plus lets you in on the large number of upcoming projects he's involved in. These include a new line of Hiero Jeans, recording and producing a full length LP with Del, working on a Hiero album in the studio, and finishing a Souls of Mischief album (with a yet-be-announced super-producer). With all of this in the works and more, A-Plus jokes that right now he has "enough to keep me busy." For those truly interested in the Golden Age of Hip-Hop and the struggle that A-Plus and Souls of Mischief underwent during their time at Jive Records, this Hierocast provides never-before-heard stories straight from the man who lived it. Check out part I at the full story link.

iPod Coverage Week: iClear Photo
Keavin Wiggins reports: 5+ years and 100 million iPods sold. The era of the iPod is in full swing and these cool little devices are addicting! But it doesn't just stop after you buy one; you have to outfit it for your lifestyle. Charges, speakers, and adapters. We're here to help you a little with accessorizing your investment in the iPod. (Which isn't cheap by any standards.) We'll kick off with the only essential accessory: iPod cases. After spending over $200 on an iPod the last thing you want to do is damage it and trust me those screens can get scratched easily. And what happens when you drop your iPod? We won't even go there as this isn't the Apple 3! (computer historians will get that bit). This week we'll be looking at a variety of iPod cases (for 5g / video iPods) with brief reviews (many of these cases have Nano versions so don't worry).

iClear Photo: Griffin took their best selling iClear case and added the option of letting the user add a photo to the back of the case for personalization (I used a tribute photo to Dimebag). The cases themselves are very sturdy hard plastic to protect against some drops, with all of the openings to allow you access to your ports. These come with backs for the 30gig and 60gig iPods so both are covered. For contrast we put the iClear photo up against the Contour ISEEV30 (30 gig iPod). The iClear beats the Contour in ease of opening once your iPod is in (the iClear is a little less difficult to open. I found the use of a dime worked great but it can be opened with a fingernail) and the iClear seem to stay a bit cleaner with use. There is nothing worse than trying to watch video through your own finger prints. Both cases can scratch with use since they are hard plastic but iClear is a lot less smudge prone. The iClear offers solid protection for your iPod but you'll have to remove your iPod to fit into most speaker systems etc. The photo feature works easily- simply put the photo with the included backing into the case, add your iPod and then close. If you buy only one case for your iPod the iClear, and iClear photo are affordably priced and offer good protection. The one advantage that the Contour case has over the iClear photo is the inclusion of the belt clip. However, the clip comes at a price since theContour is selling for twice as much at Amazon. Both cases allow your iPod to be visible to the world since they are clear. The iClear is a great everyday case for your iPod if you don't need anything beyond protection. We'll cover some of the more fancy cases this week, so tune in tomorrow for more iPod coverage. If you want to buy the iClear photo online click the full story link. - Click Here for the Full Story
