Diddy Assault
TMZ reports: TMZ has learned Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly attacking a man at a Hollywood Oscar party.

Gerard Rechnitzer was at a post-Oscar bash Sunday night with his fiancee at Teddy's at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. At around 2 AM Monday morning, the 27 year-old Rechnitzer was on his way to the parking lot when he made a pit stop in the bathroom. When he walked out, he notice his fiancee was surrounded by six men, including Combs. We're told the 5'7", 140 lb. Rechnitzer watched as Combs chat up his girl for about five minutes, and then asked his fiancee to leave with him.

At that point, Combs allegedly told the woman he was having a party and invited her to come. Rechnitzer persisted and asked his fiancee again to leave with him. Combs then allegedly socked Rechnitzer in the jaw.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Jamiroquai Not Over
[update, the band's official site offered the following correction to this widely reported story]OK, so there is a story in today's Mirror implying Jay is quitting the music business: Needless to say they've got it completely wrong! You see, in a quick chat with one of the paper's journalists following his record breaking Gig in the Sky yesterday, Jay mentioned he was taking time out to update his home studio and take some time off before the band go back in to start writing a new album later in the year. He also talked about working on new arrangements of songs so next time they go out on tour they have fresh take on the tracks they play live perhaps incorporating strings or horns. Perhaps they should listen next time! When they gonna learn? On seeing the way his chat was reported today in the Mirror Jay said "As usual they got it wrong for a cheap headline! All I said was that we're taking a bit of time out to get the studio refurbished and we'll be back making music in a few months time. There's no way I'm quitting the music business - now I am out of my long contract with SonyBMG we have so many options open to us we're just going to take our time and get it right - its just getting interesting!" Chris Cornell CD Pushed Back
PR reports: The release date for Chris Cornell's forthcoming solo CD Carry On (Suretone/Interscope) has moved to June 5, 2006. Here is a little info on the CD. Steered by Grammy Award-winning British super-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Morrissey, Dave Matthews Band), Carry On is a mature and content departure from the acrimonious artist who brought us Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

The new album's fourteen tracks offer the bluesy and soulful "Safe and Sound," psychedelic "Scar On The Sky," country-flavored "Finally Forever"... paeans to persistence in "Disappearing Act" and a slow-grind cover of Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" that gives the familiar song a completely new feeling. More personal selections include "Ghost," "Arms Around Your Love" and "She'll Never Be Your Man" and alt-rock experimentations ("Killing Birds" the anthemic "Silence the Voices"). Fans of Soundgarden and Audioslave will appreciate the harder edge of "No Such Thing" and "Poison Eye" and the redemptive "Your Soul Today."- Click Here for the Full Story

Otep Vs Metal
Blabbermouth reports: Mike Meyer of the Illinois Entertainer recently conducted an interview with OTEP frontwoman Otep Shamaya. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On the fact that that most of OTEP's new CD, "The_Ascension", waves goodbye to metal music:

"Alternative is what we do. We're the alternative. If there's anyone trying not to stay within genre limits or be defined by a specific idea, it is definitely our intention to do exactly that and not be considered a metal band. There's this bubble that metal lives in that is very restrictive and exclusive, even though it's now supposed to be the outlaw music. It's just a big frat club. I don't need any of that."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

RIAA's New Web Strategy
Idolator.com reports: The RIAA has launched a Web site for people who want to settle their file-swapping lawsuits, and it's exactly as cutting-edge as you'd expect. Not only does it have lots of drop-shadow graphics (check out that reflection!) and mazelike navigation, it has a schoolmarmish FAQ for confused litigation targets:

If I promise never to do this again, do I still have to pay?

Yes. The settlements are designed to recoup a very small piece of the massive damage inflicted on the music community as a result of piracy.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
