Trail Of Dead Vs Interscope
Gigwise reports: ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead main man Conrad Keeley has launched as scathing attack on his band's former label Interscope Records. The band have recently parted ways with the imprint having released their last three albums with them, including their latest tour-de-force 'So Divided.'

However, it appears the parting was not very amicable, with Keeley using a blog post to take a swipe at the label and its staff. Clearly frustrated by the apparent lack of publicity the label gave Trail of Dead, Keeley wrote: "At the expense of a massive debt to them of half a million dollars, they really helped us to grow.

"They've taught us about the worthlessness of A&R people, how to yell at idiots running an art department, and how to shake hands with smiling retailers who have no idea who you are. Furthermore, their idea of marketing (was) keeping it a secret that we'd released a record." - more on this story

Ozzy Blames MP3s for Sagging Sales
Metal Underground reports: Ozzy Osbourne spoke to Cameron Adams from Australia's Herald Sun recently about a number of topics including his current album Black Rain. While Black Rain made No. 3 on the US Billboard charts, like everyone else, Osbourne is battling lower sales in the modern era.

"I've been suffering terribly from people downloading it. If they don't find something to stop it, people won't be able to make records. There won't be any new bands. How are they going to survive?

"I'm an old-timer, I've been doing it 40 years now, but new bands are going to suffer. It's ridiculous, you could be doing it for nothing. Sharon said I'd be astounded to find out how many bands are touring because you can download a record but you can't beat a rock show.
"I've never done in a long time as many live shows as I'm doing now. This year I've done 90 shows."
- now witness Ozzy contradict what he just said!

How Slash Became Slash
PR reports: Slash's (Velvet Revolver, Ex-Guns N' Roses) longstanding stage name was coined by veteran character actor Seymour Cassel. The guitarist was born Saul Hudson and has been a friend of Cassel's son since childhood. Cassel decided to name the then-teenage, wannabe musician Slash - because he was so struck by the scheming youngster.

Slash explains, "It was a nickname that Seymour Cassel used to call me. I used to be (and) I'm still good friends with his son, Matt, so I used to hang out over at their house and he always used to call me Slash.

"Basically, he says it was because I was always in a hurry and I was always scheming, I was always hustling, this and that. He always saw me on the go, on the fly. So he used to call me Slash and it just stuck. My friends started calling me that and it just became a permanent nickname." - Pr-inside.com

Days Between Stations Debut
PR reports: Progressive Rock is alive and well and residing in Los Angeles with the eponymous debut CD release by Days Between Stations. Founded in 2003 by guitarist Sepand Samzadeh and keyboardist Oscar Fuentes, the Californians named themselves after the novel by Steve Erickson and have devoted themselves to, as they say, 'Art Rock' and 'Post Prog' music that reflects their varied influences, as well as a shared disregard for stylistic boundaries. The duo's new CD, released in October on Bright Orange Records, was engineered by Evren Goknar of the Capitol Mastering team who is best known for his work with Queensryche, Heart, Sammy Hagar and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Although some music critics have been quick to tout the band as the "new Pink Floyd", guitarist Sepand is adamant that the band's music stands on its own and Pink Floyd was barely in their mind-set when the album was conceived. "Pink Floyd broke so many boundaries and introduced so many ideas, that it is near impossible not to be influenced by them.the same would go for The Beatles. The influences are certainly there, but the music is Oscar and I in our purity. The range of emotions you hear are borne only from our thoughts and experiences."

The Maine Go Fearless
PR reports: The Maine joins the Fearless Family and will release The Way We Talk, on December 11, 2007. Heading straight for your ears are the new kids on the block; The Maine.

The Maine was determined to do something different and stand out as originals. The band did not want to follow the screamo trend occurring in Arizona but wanted to play something new. They began drawing inspiration from 90s radio rock bands who happen to be their strongest influences and mixing it with their own original style and writing.

"The Way We Talk is a collection of songs that revolve around the theme of communication while in a relationship and how it changes as we grow up. This EP really begins to show how we are transitioning musically and demonstrates our new attitude toward writing," says John. - more on this story

Rise of the Infidels is quite a lame way of saying goodbye to one of the most inspirational crossover bands ever, which is rather disappointing considering how important S.O.D. was.
