Otep Ink Deal

Metal Underground reports: KOCH Records has announced a new revenue-sharing partnership with OTEP. The deal is a multi-album, worldwide deal. The first release under this new agreement is the band's highly anticipated new full-length album, "The Ascension," slated for release on Tuesday, October 30th, 2007. 

The Ascension is their third full-length album, and the band challenged itself to avoid clichés and classifications and find a new landscape of sound and vision. "We said 'genre limits and music fads be damned, let's write music that is important to us and that motivates us," explains Otep Shamaya, the band's namesake and driving force. "I wanted to write songs we believe in and let nothing stop us from building the album we want to make."

Look for the band to tour soon in support of The Ascension with band members Brian, Aaron and eVil J. The band just completed a National tour with Static-X this past summer and is set to begin touring in support of the album in the very near future.

Bee Gees Greatest Coming

PR reports: Rhino Entertainment will reissue the Bee Gees Greatest on September 18, 2007. The Bee Gees were already established hitmakers in the U.S. and the U.K. when the group became an unstoppable musical force in 1975. 

In four short years, Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb rose to international superstardom as they recorded a string of worldwide hits, sold 180 million records worldwide and helped define an era with the Grammy-winning SaturdayNight Fever soundtrack. The Brothers Gibb capped their amazing run in 1979 with the multiplatinum Bee Gees Greatest, a double album spotlighting the group's meteoric run of R&B dance hits between 1975 and 1979. 

Out-of-print for five years, and in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever, Rhino will reissue the monumental collection as a two-CD deluxe edition that contains two previously unreleased tracks -- "Warm Ride" and an extended version of "Stayin' Alive," originally a 12" promo vinyl -- along with four contemporary dance remixes of classic Bee Gees songs by some of today's hot club DJs. - more on this story

Tupac Assassination Gets UK Release

High Def Motorhead

PR reports: Get interactive with Motörhead. Their Stage Fright DVD, an extraordinary look at the band's life, was released in the US earlier this year, but is now getting an upgrade - It is the first music HD DVD to feature online functions. The HD DVD production, released on SPV and produced in collaboration with Authoring Studio Imagion AG, is due out October 10, 2007 and will be the first HD DVD worldwide to use HD DVD-standard online functions. 

Since the US saw the arrival of the first two HD DVDs featuring online functions in early July, Motörhead's Stage Fright will be the first music production to follow suit and join the roster of dynamic HD DVDs. As defined by the HD DVD standard, each player will have a network interface to expand the pressed disc with additional contents.- more on this story

Cobra Starship Soph

PR reports: dance-punk sensation Cobra Starship has disclosed details of their new album, entitled "¡VIVA LA COBRA!" The album - which follows the band's 2006 debut, "WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS" - will arrive in stores on October 23rd. The sophomore release was recorded in Brooklyn, NY in July and was produced by Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump. 

"¡VIVA LA COBRA!" was written in its entirety while the band was on a North American tour with labelmates Fall Out Boy. About the writing experience, frontman Gabe Saporta says, "We were always bored on tour because we played these enormo-domes outside the city. There was nothing around for miles, so we started writing songs on our laptops." Patrick Stump, a long-time friend of Saporta's, saw the tour as the perfect opportunity to collaborate with the band. - more on this story

Lionel Richie DVD Details

PR reports: Live In Paris, Lionel Richie's first concert DVD, which premiered on PBS television pledge drives across the country this month as part of the prestigious Great Performances series, will be released commercially by Island Records on September 11th. The concert, taped at the Bercy Arena in May 2007, will be available on DVD (with 19 live songs), and also as part of a deluxe package coupled with the 10-song audio CD counterpart 

Live In Paris is a feast for Lionel Richie fans, as it intersperses his litany of career-refinancing Motown hits � among them "Running With the Night," "Endless Love," "All Night Long (All Night)," "Hello," "Say You, Say Me," "Dancing on the Ceiling," and more � with signature tunes from his years with the Commodores � "Easy," "Still," "Lady (You Bring Me Up)," "Three Times a Lady," and more. deSoL Adds Dates

Fionn Regan US Tour Part II

Dan In Real Life Sounds

PR reports: On October 2nd, Capitol Music Group is set to release the original soundtrack for the upcoming Touchstone Pictures film Dan In Real Life. The soundtrack - produced by Sondre Lerche, Mitchell Leib and Dana Sano - features 13 tracks recorded exclusively for the movie, including four new songs penned by Lerche and seven cue tracks from the score, which he composed as well. The collection also includes appearances by two rising new artists: A Fine Frenzy and Regina Spektor.

Norwegian singer-songwriter Lerche's Faces Down, landed on numerous critics' "best of" lists, including Rolling Stone's "The 10 Best Debut Albums" and "50 Best Albums of 2002." His fourth and latest full-length album, Phantom Punch, has been equally well received. "Shimmering melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and chord structures that veer from Brazilian pop to punk. What more could you ask for?" asked Interview while Entertainment Weekly said it "Evokes '80s Britpop at its zenith, with Duran Duran-ish guitars and synths underpinning lyrically self-aware ditties like the title track." Alter Bridge Set Release

PR reports: Out of the chaos, tumult, and uncertainty, Blackbird, Alter Bridge's sophomore album, was born. In the time between One Day Remains and Blackbird, Alter Bridge have found a new label, tapped the songwriting skills of Myles Kennedy, and funded their own record. Putting all the chaos behind them, Alter Bridge are set to follow up their gold record with a new album that uses the full musical arsenal of the band, on October 9th.

Alter Bridge recruited producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Incubus, Chevelle, Three Days Grace). The recording process began in Nashville in February 2007. With no label to back the band they put up their own money to make the album they wanted and needed to make. 

The first single off Blackbird, "Rise Today" asks the personal question: Could this world be a better place? With a true collaboration between the former members of Creed and Myles Kennedy, Alter Bridge is ready to take their fans on an emotional journey that shows what combined efforts of the whole band can do.
