ASHES dIVIDE Week: Day 2 "Enemies"
antiMusic reports: Billy Howerdel made a big name for himself with A Perfect Circle, but he's not one to sit around as his APC bandmates tool around with other projects. So Billy started ASHES dIVIDE and their debut album, 'Keep Telling Myself It's Alright,' hits stores this week. We caught up with Billy and asked him to tell us a little bit about his favorite tracks from the CD.

Here is Billy with today's song "Enemies": This is a good old fashion fight song to that that I wrote on my own. It was initially about a good friend of mine that I grew up with when I was a kid and kind of imagining what that guy would be like running into him today. A lot of the stuff he was going through that was pretty tough. A lot of the songs on this record are kind of in groups to me- there are a few groupings you can go with. One of those groups is not feeling worthy, and what happens as a result of that, for a lot of people that are either put down or don't love themselves enough and therefore lash out, and that feeling of being empowered. You want to be empowered in some kind of way, and if you don't feel empowered or embraced in some way, there is usually an explosive opposite reaction to that.

Learn more about the album and the band, preview some of the songs, and grab tour dates (they're on Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour) - right here!

Rage Against Anti-Flag Tour
antiMusic reports: Anti-Flag let slip in an interview with MTV that they will be supporting Rage Against The Machine on an upcoming tour this summer. But they didn't mention where they would be touring.

MTV News producer Matt Elias reported that he was on set last week "in Glendale, CA at Moonlight Rollerway, where Anti-Flag is shooting a video for their single, 'Bright Lights of America.' Tom Morello's a guest in the video, sporting a fake mustache that is AWESOME. He's the middle one in the picture. He's playing coach of Team USA for a troop of very badass roller derby girls

He managed to grab some time with a couple members of Anti-Flag and Morello between takes and reports, "while Morello was very mum on confirming rumors that RATM are back in the studio recording a new album, the Anti-Flag guys let it slip afterwards that they're most likely going to be opening up for Rage on a tour happening this summer." - ... not any more... Pulitzer Bob
antiMusic reports: The 92 annual Pulitzer Prizes were announced Monday by Columbia University and while they might as well rename them the Washington Post Awards, the Pulitzer board did announce a special citation award for Bob Dylan.

They singled out Dylan "for his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power." It only took the stuffed shirts a half a century to recognize a rock artist. They tend to favor the ubber popular classical music genre. - more on this story

Feist Wins Five Knocked Up Teenagers
antiMusic reports: The organizers of the Canada's version of the Grammy Awards are probably wishing that stripper-turned-screenwriter Diablo Cody had selected another name for her film about a knocked up teenager. Perhaps Cody was a fan of Bryan Adams or Cealion Dion and decided to name her film after the Juno awards? Nevertheless, the 2008 Juno Awards were held last weekend and Feist was the runaway winner.

Feist won knocked up teenagers for Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year,Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, winning in every award she was nominated for. Feist didn't just win, she performed her hit song "Sealion" during the two hour broadcast on CTV. We're not sure if the song is a tribute to her fellow country woman or not.

Blue Rodeo nabbed the awards for Group of the Year, Adult Alternative Album of the Year, and Video of the Year. Paul Brandt won the knocked up teenager for Country Recording of the Year. And let's not forget the corporate sponsored awards, because nothing says Modern Music business like associating music with products! Michael Bubl won the Doritos Choice award, Wintersleep won the Best New FACTOR and Canada's Private Radio Broadcasters award.

Reunited proggy rockers Triumph were also on stage for the Canadian Music Hall of Fame induction. More info on the knocked up teenager awards can be found - here

Kelly Clarkson Sucks the Leaky Internet
Hecklerspray reports: Why does Kelly Clarkson hate the cyber-realm all of a sudden? Because it went behind her back and stole some of her new unfinished tracks, that's why. Then what did the internet do? It went and shared them, with the entire world. The unimaginable bastard.

The four songs in question go by the names of Close Your Eyes, Ready, One Day, and With a Little Bit of Luck, which sound less like chart-topping pop classics and more like George describing the rabbits to Lennie. Hecklerspray for one eagerly awaits the next big Clarkson single: I Done Killed Some Girl By Petting Her Hair Too Hard (feat. Justin Timberlake).

What are Kelly Clarkson's thoughts on the whole thing? She had this to say: "I write all the time - lots of stuff not meant to ever be released, just working on ideas. The fact that people have heard music that's not ready yet sucks, but I hope they like it." - more on this story

Coldplay The Sleeping Pill
antiMusic reports: Travelodge just wasted money conducting a survey to find out what we could have told them free of charge-- Coldplay will put you to sleep. The hotel chain conducted a survey of 2,248 Brits to find out what helps them go to beddy bye dreamland.

According to Reuters Coldplay topped the list of music that acts as the perfect sleeping pill replacement. James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones were also high on the list.

Sleep inducing music wasn't the only topic polled. Reuters reports, "But those who prefer to be tucked in with a book at night judged celebrity autobiographies as the most effective sleep aid, with the life stories of glamour model Jordan, soccer star David Beckham and Sharon Osbourne ranking at the top." - Read the Reuters report.

What About the Music?
antiMusic reports: We received an interesting email last week from a PR company about Leona Lewis, who's new CD 'Spirit' hits stores today. While most emails we receive about new CDs tout the CDs with quotes from the same three pubs that send us running a 100 mph in the opposite direction, this email tried to get our attention with this line "I've included some info about Leona's recent birthday (April 3rd) that you might find newsworthy."

Before we get to this "newsworthy" info it is interesting to note that there was not one mention of the actual music on this CD (not even her history making hit single). And what follows is what was actually sent to us and demonstrates just how Paris Hilton (e.g. shallow and mindless) pop music has become in the age of Idol.

Here is what the publicist thought we might find newsworthy about Leona Lewis: *Leona's fave shop in the US is PlanetBlue - great clothes and accessories! *Leona went out to party at Opera and her dress split in the car so she had to diy fix it with safety pins before going into the club ! *Leona's girlfriends and family have flown to NYC to spend her bday with her which she has off - they'll be spending the day shopping and having a big birthday dinner in a really fun restaurant. She has to be up at 5am on Friday to perform on Good Morning America so she can't be out too late on her birthday night!!! *Leona hasn't asked for anything for her birthday, as all she wants is to spend time with family and friends! * Leona got a beautiful charm bracelet from Simon which she loves and will enjoy wearing!

Kind of makes you want to drop everything and run out and buy the CD! If that doesn't do it, then maybe knowing that Tyson Ritter from All-American Rejects told Buzznet that he really wants to collaborate with her. - Read about that here

Sweet Dreams Are Made of Zombies
PR reports: Known for his visionary work in the recording studio and his creative entrepeneurship, Euyrthmics co-founder Dave Stewart is shaking up the world of comics with ZOMBIE BROADWAY, the outrageous horror-comedy-musical graphic novel.

With the un-dead causing mayhem and New York City in shambles, the President has his finger on the button ready to nuke Manhattan Island. There remains only one hope, one way to avert another disaster and save the city a good cheery new musical!

Unlike the zombie films of yore, ZOMBIE BROADWAY imagines zombies as not so different from regular folk; they eat candy and junk food and even enjoy a nice evening out at the theater. Somehow, Broadway show tunes sedate their violent ways. Could a Broadway show starring singing and dancing zombies be the key to saving the City? You'll have to read the book to find out.

Ashlee, Britney and Pavarotti
antiMusic reports: What do Ashlee Simpson, Britney Spears and the late Luciano Pavarotti have in common? They've all been caught lip-synching. AP has this report about the opera legend's last appearance:

Luciano Pavarotti, in severe pain months before his cancer diagnosis, lip-synched his last performance, according to the maestro who conducted the aria at the opening ceremony of the Turin Olympics.

The late tenor's manager said Monday the bitter cold made a live performance impossible at the 2006 Winter Games. - more on this story
