Own A Piece of Hendrix at Woodstock History!
Submitted reports: A Jimi Hendrix original guitar strap used at The Woodstock Music and Art Festival in 1969 will be put up for sale on December 11, 2008, one of the 500+ items that will be available at auction by Profiles in History. The guitar strap is expected to sell for $25,000-$35,000.

Worldwide bidding for the entire auction begins at 12:00pm (noon Pacific Time). Bids can be placed either in person, via mail, phone, fax or live on the Internet via eBay Live Auctions.

This patterned Ace guitar strap was used by Hendrix at Woodstock as well as the Hollywood Bowl in 1967 and other performances. The strap originally came from David Vega, lead guitarist of the San Francisco funk band, Graham Central Station. Vega had been given the guitar strap from a sound technician who worked at Woodstock. Numerous photographs were taken of Hendrix using this guitar strap, including his milestone performance closing the final day at Woodstock which would become the most talked about rock festival in history and a pivotal moment for an entire generation. The strap is housed in a custom frame with a reissue Woodstock Music and Art Festival poster. A fantastic relic from the legendary guitarist. - http://www.profilesinhistory.com

CBGB's Urinal Lives On!
HeadbangerNYC.com reports: Have you wondered what happened to the urinal from CBGB after the legendary rock club closed? Well, it's safe and sound along with thousands of other music artifacts at the brand new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex in SoHo. While the museum will officially open Dec. 2, the public can get a first look during preview tours starting today.

The 25,000-square feet mini-museum, costing $10 million, sits in the brick-walled basement of an Old Navy store at 76 Mercer Street.. It is the first time the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has extended its brand beyond the main museum in Cleveland, and New York City was the logical choice.

Illustrating this point is a 26-foot scale model of Manhattan located in the "New York Rocks" gallery, which lights up in 24 places marking key locations in NYC rock history. The room also contains a CBGB installation and articles of clothing and other artifacts from New York musicians like The Ramones, Blondie and Patti Smith. - HeadbangerNYC.com

What's Going On at Daryl's House
PR reports: For the 14th edition of Live from Daryl's House, debuting Dec. 15, Daryl Hall joins with Kevin Rudolf, the first-ever pop/rock signing to the famed New Orleans hip-hop label Cash Money Records, founded by brothers Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Baby" Williams, and the home of multi-platinum rap star Lil' Wayne.

In the latest installment, Daryl joins with the charismatic New York City born-and-raised Rudolf, whose first single, "Let It Rock," featuring Lil Wayne, was the most added at Top 40 radio when it was released last September.

That will be one of the songs Daryl and Kevin will perform together on www.livefromdarylshouse.com, along with several tracks from Rudolf's debut album, In the City, including "Welcome to the World," the title track and "I Song," performed acoustically with Daryl Hall and band members T-Bone Wolk on guitar, Eliot Lewis on keyboards and percussionist Everett Bradley. The pair will also join forces on a trio on the Hall and Oates standard "She's Gone" and an acoustic version of the seasonal "Everyday Will Be Like a Holiday," from H&O Christmas album, Home For Christmas. The set will climax with an acoustic version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On."

School of Rock Anniversary
PR reports: The Paul Green School of Rock All-Stars will be heading on a 10th anniversary victory lap this holiday season, personifying the revolution in music education launched a decade ago in a Philadelphia garage by mounting a 14-city, 17-show tour through the Northeast and Midwest between Christmas and New Year's.

That garage is where one man's dream became a national phenomenon. Green's vision has since produced 45 schools nationwide and an explosion of future rock stars, many of whom have traveled quite far along the trail he blazed when he took music instruction out of the classroom and onto the live rock stage by founding the original and premier performance-based rock music school in the country for kids 8-17 in 1998.

The celebration kicks off in grand style Dec. 26 in New York City, when, for the first time ever, all three touring squads of School of Rock All-Stars converge on B.B. Kings for three classic rock shows in one day each headlined by a different group before dispersing on their separate routes for the final week of the year. All touring School of Rock Stars the "best and brightest" embodiment of Green's philosophy that hard work leads directly to applause will reconvene for a New Year's Eve blowout in Asbury Park, NJ, capping a week in which they'll play the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, as well as top clubs in Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, Philadelphia (two shows), Burlington VT and more cities with School of Rock branches. Throughout the tour, the School of Rock All-Stars will be playing classic rock from the 1960s to 1990s, ABBA to Zappa.

Free Blues Download
Black and White reports: BLUES will be releasing their heavily scientific and brutally melodic contribution to the music world, otherwise known as Heavy Sci-Fi with their desert neighbors, 1912 RECORDS.

The tracks are now up for FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD on their Myspace but in the Spring of 2009, they are going to put it in stores and clothe it in a vinyl/cd package that the likes of Jupiter and Uranus have never seen!

Of course, for those still living in the neanderthal days of artistic and musical expression, 1912 will be selling CDs by themselves sportin' similar armor as well as it being thrown up on iTunes. Records, if bought alone, will of course come with a complimentary download code, what 1912 calls an FU CODE. For...various & obvious reasons. So download now and look for it in stores next year! - go download here

. Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N' Roses (Rock Reads)
While 'Watch You Bleed' has some truly unique material in it that makes it essential reading, the book by no means is essential. It's a half-baked affair, which is a shame, this could have very easily been the biblical source for the band with a little more time, care and research. - Read the full Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N' Roses (Rock Reads) review
