Weiland Done With Stone Temple Pilots?
MusicRadar reports: This year Scott Weiland left Velvet Revolver to rejoin his old band, Stone Temple Pilots, and now it seems that he could be saying goodbye to them, as well.

In an interview with USA Today, Weiland spoke about the possibility of a new studio album from Stone Temple Pilots. The bandhas just completed an extensive and highly successful US reunion tour. Fans are clamoring for a new album, but Weiland is on the fence.

"My goal in STP was to leave an imprint," he says. "That was done. I want to move forward and be in control of what I do musically. I have kids, and I don't want to spend my life on the road." - more on this story

Kanye Tells Fan To Eat Sh*t
antiMusic reports: Today's lesson: You can't Auto-Tune insults as MusicRadar shows with this story: Kanye West rebuked a fan who allegedly threw something onto the stage when he was performing in Melbourne on 5 December by repeatedly telling them to "eat sh*t and die".

The star was in the middle of a set at the Rod Laver Arena when the object was apparently hurled, prompting his freestyle retort.

This was made to sound slightly bizarre by the fact that West had his now trademark Auto-Tune effect turned on. The offender must have felt like he was being ticked off by an angry robot.
- Watch a video of the incident. It's really fun(ny).

Labels No Longer Like iLike
Billboard reports: Sony BMG and Warner Music Group have blocked full-song streaming of their music from the iLike service.

The move comes months after iLike struck a deal with Rhapsody, earlier this year, to let users stream a limited number of full songs from the service for free. Rhapsody lets non-subscribers stream 25 songs a month in full before reverting to 30-second samples, relying on advertising to cover the licensing costs.

Several services such as iLike and MOG partnered with Rhapsody for this feature as a sort of ad-hoc full-song streaming strategy. But the record labels say its agreement with Rhapsody doesn't allow third parties to use the service in this way without their express permission, leading to the blocked content. - more on this story

New Black Eyed Peas Spells The End of Album Format?
FMQB reports: The Black Eyed Peas are looking for unconventional ways to release their next album, The END, which is due in March.

Don't be fooled by the album's title: The END does not mean the Peas are breaking up. It simply stands for "The Energy Never Dies," according to BEP leader Will.I.Am.

However, one thing that Will does see coming to an end is the traditional album format. "When it comes out, there'll be 12 songs on it, but the next day there could be 100 songs, 50 sketches, 1,000 blogs all (online) around The END, so the energy really, truly never dies," the Rapper and producer told Billboard.com about the new album. - more on this story
