Paul Simon Live From Philadelphia DVD
Kayos reports: Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the DVD release of arguably America's greatest living songwriter, Paul Simon, Live From Philadelphia on November 25.

Recorded in Philadelphia's longtime cherished landmark venue, The Tower Theater, in 1980, this 11-song, 53-minute set features Simon on vocals and guitar back by a superb back-up band: drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Tony Levin, pianist Richard Tee and guitarist Eric Gale.

The setlist includes both solo material and Simon & Garfunkel classics. Simon was in a transitional phase in 1980, continually searching for just the right sounds. Touring in support of the soundtrack to One-Trick Pony, he was still three years removed from Hearts & Bones and, more importantly, six years removed from Graceland.

Tommy James & the Shondells Collection Coming
conqueroo reports: If you were a rock 'n' roll fan in the '60s and early '70s, you well remember Tommy James & the Shondells having hit after hit on the charts. 40 Years: The Complete Singles Collection (1966-2006) a two-CD, 48-song set to be to be released on November 25 by the Collectors' Choice Music and Aura labels is a career retrospective of both the band and James' solo career. And, as they say on the campaign commercials, Tommy James has approved this collection, so fans can rest assured there's no "hanky panky" going on.

40 Years contains the A-side of every single James released (with or without the Shondells) on six different labels from 1966 to 2006 (plus an ultra-rare 1962 bonus track) with in-depth liner notes penned by Ed Osborne and Tommy James' biographer, Martin Fitzpatrick, and photos from Tommy's personal archive. As with did the recent Collectors' Choice Jan & Dean Compete Liberty Singles release, 40 Years contains the original single mixes, not the remixed versions heard on previous collections. Fifteen Shondells' tracks and five of Tommy's solo singles are in their original mono mixes, almost all of which are making their CD debut.

Iceberg Slim's Reflections Coming To CD
PR reports: Uproar Entertainment is pleased to release on CD the Spoken Word album, "Reflections" by Iceberg Slim.

Produced in 1976 by David Drozen, "Reflections" is the poignant and memorable recording of many of Iceberg Slim's true life experiences. These stories are not easily forgotten and leave their incredible mark on the listener.

Iceberg Slim started to pimp at age 18 in the brutal Chicago underworld, soon becoming rich and successful in the trade. In his writings, he traced the motive behind and tradition of black pimping to the days when American slaves noticed their white owners' physical attraction to and exploitation of black women.

King Clarentz Soph
PR reports: Day of the Supermodel is King Clarentz's second commercial album release and his first release for Super Sweet Records. Whether he's performing as a one-man band or fronting a combo, King wins the crowd over every time with his unique punk twist on Delta blues and garage rock.

These 13 tracks, laid down with drummer Bobby Lloyd Hicks of the Skeletons in late 2007, are truly true-to-live, and full of the King's unique reflections on topics such as hurricane parties, sex, death, and, of course, Republicans.

"Pea Vine Whistle" and "Empire State" showcase his ability to make even the most traditional songs his own. And "Martha Stewart" and "New GOP" take it even further with modern, witty, yet timeless lyrics. The CD's comic-book-style packaging, designed by renowned visionary San Francisco artist Aaron Farmer, (SF Weekly and Bill Graham Presents/Fillmore Auditorium), illustrates the unique vision behind the words to "Supermodel," which was inspired by one of the King's many trips to 29 Palms, California. A PDF of the comic-booklet is available with full-album downloads on iTunes. - more on this story
