This Time Next Year Stranded in Missouri
antiMusic reports: This Time Next Year had a bit of bad luck and are hoping fans can help them out. Here is a statement their camp sent over:

Last night we lost the transmission in our van, spent the night in the 24 degree weather, spent the day at the mechanic and now we are in a small town called New Florance in southern Missouri. Luckily everything can be fixed within a few days but, now we are stuck with a huge mechanic bill.

We are asking for donations to help us through this. If you can spare any money - please send it via paypal to [email protected] - If you are not able to do that please head over to Taco Bell's www.FeedTheBeat.com and vote for us. That will at least save us money on food and right now we need all the help we can get. -

Britney's Father Knows Best Says Judge
TMZ reports: Lawyers in the Britney Spears conservatorship case have just asked the court commissioner to make her conservatorship permanent. And the judge said she would grant the request. [the conservators include her father Jamie Spears and several attorneys according to AP].

The conservatorship was scheduled to end on December 31. Sources say one reason why Brit & Co. wanted to extend the conservatorship is that it makes it easier for her to regain custody of her kids -- the family law commissioner will feel more comfortable giving her added face time if there is a safety net.

The conservators will now also be responsible for handling her business affairs and career opportunities. As for why they suddenly asked for a permanent conservatorship -- we're told the commish doesn't want to keep extending temporary power...that it makes more sense to make the conservatorship permanent and then just lift it when Brit is safe and sound. - more on this story

Apples In Stereo Star Announces Children's Music Album
PR reports: Robert Schneider, the mind behind one of indie-rock's seminal music groups, The Apples in stereo, will be releasing his debut children's music album under the character name Robbert Bobbert for the Little Monster Records label on January 20th, 2009.

The album, entitled Robbert Bobbert & The Bubble Machine will include a humorous comic book designed by artist Todd Webb, introducing kids and parents to his inventor/scientist character, Robert Bobbert.

"Recording music for children is an amazing and fun experience," Schneider explains. "It forces me to be extra creative because you are writing for an extra creative audience. Kids' ears are very tuned in to unusual sounds, so I threw many of my regular instruments out the window in order to come up with a whole new palette of colorful noises and wanted to make super-pop music that kids will like to sing along with." - more on this story

. Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman - Fabled City
Most of these tracks are generic and boring, "The King of Hell" sounds like Veggie Tales with its hokey/corny/lame chorus of "The devil is not the king of Hell!" but "Whatever It Takes" is old school Tom (meaning it has a riff in it.) (2.5 stars) - Read the full Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman - Fabled City review

. Backtrack: Let There Be Rock
They don't make rock singers like Bon Scott anymore. They don't make rock guitarists like Angus Young anymore. No wonder it takes a nostalgic video game to get people interested in rock these days. Bon never said, "Let there be Wii!" (5 stars) - Read the full Backtrack: Let There Be Rock review
