Bon Jovi Threaten Tribute Band
antiMusic reports: Tribute bands beware. Flattery may get you sued! Metal Underground has this tale of woe for a all female Bon Jovi tribute group: A legal letter from the law firm Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman to the girl group Blonde Jovi has surfaced and states, "It has recently come to our attention that your band is using the mark and name Blonde Jovi in connection with live musical performances; more specifically, a Bon Jovi tribute band.

Our investigation also uncovered that you are using BJP's "Heart and Dagger" Logo trademark prominently on your website. Unfortunately, and despite the fact that our client appreciates the reverence that your band pays tribute to Bon Jovi, as a tribute band, our client nevertheless is charged with the duty of enforcing its trademark rights. In this regard, BJP cannot allow your band to use the mark and name Blonde Jovi (or any other BJP trademarks), as such use creates a likelihood of confusion with our client, and capitalizes on the goodwill and reputation of its well-known marks."

Blonde Jovi posted a statement on their Myspace page about changing their name after receiving the letter: "Due to threatened legal action by Jon Bon Jovi's attorneys, we will be changing our name. The name Blonde Jersey is temporary, until we come up with a new one. If you have any name suggestions, please email us! Nothing containing Jovi, or anything similar to JOVI may be used so Blonde Giovi, Blonde Joe V, BLONDE JOVIE, are not options. Thanks for your support!... Too bad we didn't go with our original name idea of Boob Jovi!" - More news from Metal Underground

Aerosmith Teaming Up With ZZ Top
antiMusic reports: Aerosmith are teaming up with ZZ Top this summer. That's the good news for Aero fans, the bad news is the group's new album plans have been delayed. Here is part of Billboard report: Health issues and touring commitments have combined to postpone Aerosmith's next album, according to guitarist Joe Perry. Perry tells Billboard.com that the record sessions - for the group's first album since 2004's 'Honkin' On Bobo' and first of all-original material since 2001's 'Just Push Play', were delayed when he had to have surgery earlier this year to clear out an infection in his knee replacement.

Then, last month, singer Steven Tyler came down with pneumonia, after which the veteran Boston rockers "realized there wasn't any chance of getting it finished before we hit the road for the summer. So basically we had to push (the album) back, and when the band gets off the road, that's when we'll pick up the Aerosmith record."

Aerosmith's tour, the group's first since 2007, starts in June with ZZ Top. Perry says about 40 dates are set so far for North America, with South America, Europe and Japan also under consideration. The itinerary should be announced soon. - more on this story

Singer Not Laughing At April Fools Death Joke
MusicRadar reports: Do you remember the band Space? Well, they've just had their most press in years but only because an April Fool joke claimed singer Tommy Scott had died.

A fake press release was sent out earlier this week, pretending to be from Scott's current label Antipop Records. It claimed that he had expired from heart failure at the age of 37, on 31 March.

Scott, now performing with The Drellas, immediately reacted angrily when local radio subsequently reported on his supposed death. "I can't say how angry I am about this. I'm alive and well, but to have my mum believing I was dead was beyond a joke. I just can't believe this has happened. The phone hasn't stopped, but now we just want to find out who is responsible. There's going to be hell to pay". - more on this story
