Red Hot Van Hagar Supergroup Chickenfoot Tour Sells Out
antiMusic reports: Demand for the first Chickenfoot live dates has led to a record sellout. The new supergroup, featuring Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar of Van Halen, and guitar legend Joe Satriani, had this to say:

Beyond our expectations, the public on-sales for the nine road-test shows sold out all tickets in record time. The band was blown away by your response and can't wait to take the show on the road!

CHICKENFOOT will be back in August and September to play a major North American tour and there will be sufficient tickets to meet your demands. Due to the size of the venues for these shows, we do not forsee any issues with pre-sale availability. - more on this story

Eminem Reveals Drug Inspired Album Art
MusicRadar reports: Eminem's just-released artwork for his upcoming album Relapse makes us long for the days of the vinyl LP. What better way to take in the prescription pill-laced collage of Slim Shady?

The artwork is a close-up head shot of Em over a black background, with his face being a mosaic of hundreds of little pills and capsules.

Eminem has spoken publicly about an addiction to prescription drugs, which included a well-publicized stint in rehab and a later relapse - hence, the title.

On his own Twitter page, Eminem himself writes "This is getting very real..." and includes a link to the image that you can see - here

Pixies Boxsets Coming
HER reports: Some rock bands sound as fresh and valid today as when their albums first dropped. A perfect example would be the Pixies, acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering band of the late '80s alt/rock movement. Over the course of five studio album releases from 1987 through 1991, the Boston-bred group - which included singer/guitarist Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal, and drummer David Lovering - created a body of work that spawned many alt/rock radio standards, and influenced countless subsequent bands, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Radiohead.

Now, these five classic releases are going to be reissued as both Limited Edition and Deluxe Edition collector's sets entitled Minotaur. Spearheaded by Jeff Anderson, founder of A+R (Artist in Residence), who has put together expansive and eye-catching versions of releases by Nine Inch Nails, Beck, and Sigur Ros - Minotaur will be available for pre-order at www.ainr.com beginning Monday, June 15, 2009. The Minotaur Deluxe Edition will retail for $175, while the Minotaur Limited Edition will be priced at $450.

The Deluxe Edition will include all five Pixies studio albums - Come On Pilgrim (1987), Surfer Rosa (1988), Doolittle (1989), Bossanova (1990), and Trompe le Monde (1991) - on 24k layered CD and Blu-ray (five discs total), with reinterpreted artwork by Vaughan Oliver, the graphic designer who created all of the artwork that accompanied the Pixies' studio albums. Also included in the Deluxe Edition will be a DVD of a Pixies 1991 performance at the Brixton Academy in London, the group's videos, possible live tracks, and a 54-page book, all housed in a custom slipcase. The Minotaur Limited Edition version will include everything in the Deluxe Edition, as well as all five albums on 180 gram vinyl, a Giclee print of Oliver's artwork, and a 72-page hardcover book, all housed in an oversized custom clamshell cover. - more on this story

The Black Dahlia Murder Set DVD Debut
Metal Blade reports: The Black Dahlia Murder are set to release their first ever DVD, Majesty, this May. This side splitting peek into the hard working band's humor laced brand of daily life will have you smelling the funk of the van from coast to coast and keep you coming back for more. Stay tuned to the band's MySpace page or Metal Blade's site/MySpace page as we will be releasing teaser clips taken from the DVD up through the release of Majesty.

Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments, "The Black Dahlia Murder DVD entitled Majesty is finally finished and ready to be unleashed on the world. Diehard fans will recognize that the title has been plucked from the chorus of Nocturnal. It was filmed and edited by our good friend/drinking partner Robbie Tassaro, whom we have worked with in the past for the filming of our 'What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse' video. Robbie is a hilarious man in himself, and probably the only person we could trust to really capture the essence of the band. Doing a DVD was something we were very apprehensive about... doing video stuff is always a risk when you can't afford the luxuries that the MTV darlings can... I mean look at the majority of death metal videos on you tube... the comments are all people laughing how cheesy they are. For Christ's sake, look at our video for Funeral Thirst! That's ghetto metal fabulous. - more on this story
